  1. Damn that dancer's flipping annoying! Any tips? I've tried everything - covering up everything except her foot, her shadow, staring at it for minutes on end, trying to imagine her switching legs or one arm being in front, going in a arc, nothing's working!
  2. Yeah I was gonna say, don't we kinda all want to get it now, recover, and have immunity to it, so we're better prepared when it's mutated and comes back in the winter?
  3. Yes! Done that several times, I haven't taken it for about a year though, when I got a 5-ish I think.
  4. There's been quite a few cases in London, most notably 9, I believe, confirmed cases at a school in Dulwich, and everyone who could have come into contact with the virus has been issued with Tamiflu and advised to stay at home, to reduce spread of the virus. I was wondering if it doesn't seem logical that we actually want people to contract swine flu now in England, while it's a mild disease and easily recovered from, and we know it'll kill practically no-one? (I know things are different in Mexico though). That way we'll be so much better prepared if and when it returns in six months time, and I've heard it'll be much more serious then. Can anyone shed some light on this?
  5. Nah... Never looked at porn, but there's too much stuff I've said and written. Including stuff about my parents somewhere, I'm sure...
  6. Haha yeah me too, I bought it on holiday in my first year of secondary school. It's gorgeous, creamy with flowers on it <3: kind of a weird shape though. And it's getting holes in the bottom, so who knows, might have to get a new one sometime soon!
  7. Alleynes in south London's shut for the week... and I'm in south london. We have SATs this week too... argh.
  8. Jeez reading all of this is so depressing. I barely ever run anywhere. Only time I ever ran a mile took me about 8/9 minutes... that was last summer at school -.-
  9. I'm not sure it would scar her for life, but it would probably have quite an effect on her school life. It's so unprofessional... teachers are supposed to teach and support, not perform strip searches. Isn't that the police's job? And for such a trivial thing too? That's absurd. and they didn't even call her parents first?
  10. :o I thought that was Tim Berners-Lee?Seriously? You didn't know Al Gore invented the internet, even after all his ramblings about it? No.. :?
  11. PLAYING DEVIL'S ADVOCATE HERE! DONT CALL ME A RACIST PLEASE. and I don't support the BNP either. Discussion here seems to be pretty one-sided, so... From the BNP website: Is there really much wrong with this? Racism - discrimination against a person or group of people purely on the basis of race. But the BNP don't discriminate against people purely on the basis of race, do they? Maybe things have been different in the past (certainly there was racist things said by now old BNP members) but from the above, their concern seems to be with 'preserving' British culture, not blindly hating people who aren't British. There's a difference. Like I said... just putting another argument across. Their whole attitude is far too nationalistic, but do they really deserve to be labelled racists? I dunno.
  12. :o I thought that was Tim Berners-Lee? Smartest person ever, eh... As Stilev said, there's numerous answers, just depends what fields you're thinking about when you say 'smart'. Right now I have great admiration for Philippe Petit (saw Man On Wire last night... : ) Da Vinci, maybe...
  13. It's sought, not seeked. :P
  14. Just out of curiosity, what is it about Darren Shan you enjoy so much? I just really don't get them.
  15. That gets so frustrating. I went camping for a month, and no one brought watches. It was fall, so it got dark early, and you never knew what time it was. Like 7pm seemed like 9:30, since it was pitch black, and you couldn't tell the difference at all. Not knowing the time, coupled with not caring about what time it is, is an amazing feeling. Yeah it should be, depends what you're doing though... on a day when you can slob around doing whatever takes your fancy, sure, but what if you have work, school, an appointment? You'd just have to leave whenever it felt right and accept you could be hours early or late... Plus I never feel totally... secure... unless I know the time. Just helps keep things in place if that makes any sense!
  16. There was a member of a cabin crew flying back from Mexico to London who was suspected of having it but apparently tests were negative. I don't think there's been any others... two in France though I think?

Eat a chili 9. Take a krav maga class :P 10. Ride a camel 11. Make a bonfire (this might not sound like a big deal but it'd be cool) 12. On the same note, learn how to start a fire with flint or twigs or however you do it. 13. GLASSBLOWING! this has always fascinated me and I think you can do workshops which would be pretty cool! 14. Attend tomato-throwing-festival in Spain ( ) 15. Pass grade 5 saxophone (again, may not sound like a big deal) 16. Convince someone above the age of 12 to believe something absurdly stupid. 18. Be an extra in films 19. Plant a tree... like an oak or yew... something that will last years and years even after I'm gone 20. Witness a full eclipse (even if I had to travel halfway around the world to see it) 21. 18. Really? Kill anyone who takes more than they put in? Go ahead and bring up Godwin's Law on my [wagon], we all know what's coming next. Oh, calling me a Nazi. Mature. Economically speaking, anyone who requires more input than the output they provide shouldn't exist. You are a sick, sick child You are a sad, sad person. You said so yourself - that's 'economically' speaking. What about morals, ethics, human rights?
  19. Do you think incest is okay? Depends. No, personally... but then again, between two consenting adults? Not anyone else's business, is it? Why do you ask?
  20. What ticks me off about this is that she can't provide any reason for her beliefs beyond "That's how I was raised." Is that really a valid reason for anything? That's just laziness, isn't it? And no opinion (especially one as 'controversial' as this) should be the product of laziness...
  21. Sorry to change the topic slightly but the mother said in the first link : If that's true (that the baby can do all of those things) that's... bizarre. Babies can't smile before 6 weeks and can't hold their own heads up for a long time. Is what she said not true or could it be related to the anencephaly?
  22. London is expensive but amazing. Incredible experience if you can afford it.

The Hoosiers' song Trick to Life has a great message to it I think - "the trick to life is not to get too attached to it". So true... if you worry about ruining everything all the time or being 'unsafe' (fine line between safety and obsession) life wouldn't be enjoyable. There are so many ridiculous things happening atm in the name of hygiene and safety. I'm all for both of those, but taking it to the point that being safe is more important than having fun? Is that from that film... no idea what it's called... and there's a film festival and this guy puts on this really boring pretentious film and everyone's falling asleep, then the video changes and there's a woman and it's summer and everyone wakes up and cheers?... /random thoughts, sorry "I disagree with what you say, but would defend to the death your right to say it." Summary of some of Voltaire the french philosopher's ideas by... some other random person. Anyone know who said this? :D "D'you reckon the Queen of England's ever pulled up her bedcovers so just her head is showing and gone, 'Philip! Look at me! I'm a stamp!' "
  24. Anyone know the game Cutting In? Two or more people on bikes try to force the others to put their feet on the ground while keeping themselves balanced. I've only played once but it ended badly - my friend's handlebar got wedged under mine and we both fell onto the ground on my side. My face got pushed into the concrete and I ended up with a black eye, fat lip and grazes all down one cheek. Looked like I'd been beaten up... teachers at school took me aside to ask who'd done it...
  25. "Love actually is everywhere" I guess love is such an integral part of being human it's not surprising it's such a common - essential, even - element of every film, song, TV show, comedy sketch. Something we can all relate to in some way.
