  1. Actually, I wouldn't mind being cooped up in a giant fishbowl like that for at least a while (with the breathing aperatus of course), can you imagine how surreal the experience must be?
  2. Sorry dude, we can't look inside your skull to see how much you've actually thought of. You're going to have to be more specific :?
  3. Actually, I'd say only 50% of what's currently on my list is downloaded... My slightly updated playlist >.>
  4. I like the bands, but I have to say you're not giving us much to discuss here :?
  5. From my childhood, it'd have to be a book called '400 degrees in the shadow' (it hasn't translated to English). It's about a young girl born into a breeding tank to work on a mining colony in Mercury, which is basically a huge walking city. The title refers to a scene early during the girl's childhood, when they went out to the surface of Mercury during a field trip. They had to find a safe place to put the cage for the class rabbit. They put it under a cliff where they were sure it would be in the shadow when the sun came around. Then they headed back to their classroom to watch the rabbit on the monitor. Of course even though they had put it in the shadow the temperature inside the cage quickly reached 400 degrees centigrade. The rabbit was slowly cooked, and all the kids were forced to watch to teach them why they should never let themselves get exposed to the sun. The book wasn't much, but it's probably the book that sparked my interest in sci-fi.
  6. I can tell right now from looking at the URL that that won't make any difference...
  7. This was already posted a while back. Also, if you're going to put a logout link in your sig, make sure it doesn't return an error message ;)
  8. Ok... back on topic :? I honestly don't think you can judge the game's graphics from a ten second clip of the balancing system of a grind. The game still in the early stages of development, and the compression rate used in the creation of this video probably also caused some loss of quality.
  9. Part 17 Thomas and Tetra walked quickly, trying to ignore the beady eyes that stared at them from all directions. The rats were a curious lot, but also fiercely protective of their territory. It had taken them years to accept Thomas, and now he was bringing in a stranger. Nearly everyone in the city had witnessed Tetra jumping down the fifteen foot drop with seemingly no trouble at all. The tension Tetra had caused was palpable, but Thomas tried to look as calm as possible. He knew full well that if they chose to, the children could rip them to shreds. Between Tetra and the machine gun they could probably put up quite a fight, but the rats were fully aware of the fact that they had the advantage of sheer numbers. Thomas could only hope that their respect for him and uncertainty about Tetra̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s power would keep them at bay, at least until he had spoken to their leader. Finally they reached their destination, the only building in Muripolis made entirely of bricks. It was larger than the other hovels, although any attempt not to make it look like it was constructed of garbage and rubble like the rest of the buildings had failed miserably. Thomas and Tetra had to stoop low as they entered the child-sized palace, closely followed by the ever vigilant Scipula. The inside of the building consisted of a single room, about nine feet wide and ten feet across. The room was lit by a few oil lamps and candles that cast flickering shadows on the irregular walls. Mismatched wooden planks were laid out across the floor. One side of the room was covered with a pile of blankets that seemed to be arranged in a crude nest. A low table standing near the far wall was arranged as a desk, complete with several pencil stubs and a stack of papers that contained the rudimentary administration system the rats used to keep track of resources. Sitting behind the desk was the leader of the rats, a boy only a few years older than most of the children that called him their leader. Still, by their standards he was ancient, as the dangerous and violent lives the children led rarely lasted past the first few years of puberty. A long puckered scar run across the side of his face and all the way down his neck, just one of the many signs that his life hadn̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t been every bit as violent as that of the other children. Nobody knew the name his parents gave him. He had been called Reston by the other rats for as long as he could remember. More than anyone else in the gang he was a survivor, and it was only natural that he succeeded the previous leader when she mysteriously disappeared two years ago. Under his reign Muripolis had thrived. Outside of their territory, the gang had become less violent and more reliant on scavenging for their survival. Their territory itself was fiercely defended however, and any trespassers were usually attacked without warning. By choosing to be aggressive only when their territory was invaded, Reston had ensured that the rats were left mostly alone by the other inhabitants of the poverty-stricken city districts where they made their home. Thomas had been one of the few strangers he had grudgingly allowed to travel through the rats̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢ territory. Tetra however was new, and newcomers were usually ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¹Ãâencouraged̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢ to leave at their earliest convenience. It was only because of Thomas̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢ company that she hadn̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t already been attacked. Still, unless something was negotiated now the peace wouldn̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t last long. Thomas stepped forward, signalling for Tetra to remain quiet. Just as he was about to speak Reston stood up, his beady eyes regarding him sharply. ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬ÅShe̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s an outsider, and you̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢ve brought her into our city. Give me a good reason not to kill her now, or you for that matter.̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬ÃâÃ
  10. What they said. It would probably save you a whole lot of time. There's a forum for pretty much everything out there these days. If you do want to create a succesful forum, you'll need to pick a general subject that hasn't been covered sufficiently yet, yet still holds your interest up to the point where you can maintain it at least semi-activly. Good luck with that :?

I said that he could have saved himself a lot of time by just using Google.

Apples and oranges dude... :? Even if this topic wasn't done to death, it should be in the Music and Movies board...
  13. Even if this wasn't spam, this should go in the Forum Games board...
  14. Necromagus replied to nk6's topic in Off-Topic
Y'know, even if this is the non-RS section of an RS-related board, don't you think you'd be better off just looking at one of the many dedicated sites?
  15. Wheee, another stupid clickwar game to muck up the forum servers

I've been trying to get FFVII running on my pc, but even with the Windows XP patch the game always crashes when leaving the screen where you learn how to climb ladders :|
  17. It's Planet Hell by Nightwish. It's available on the album Once or the single for Nemo. http://darklyrics.com/lyrics/nightwish/once.html#4
  18. Heh, bet the big lug didn't see that one coming :P
  19. I found a teaspoon once, does that count?
  20. Oops, must have missed that  The N.Y. Times wrote a pretty good article on the whole ordeal...
  21. I really don't have time to rewrite all of it at the moment, although I think that one or more fallen sirens might be interesting enemies later on. They're not too magical, as they lack the ability to form any kind of rational thought most of the time.
  22. Hehe, my dual monitor thingy uses my TV :P
  23. Here's my suggestion for an additional 'race': The sirens A siren is a short-lived semi-physical manifestation of the soul of a recently deceased sea elf. The sea elf is reborn as a siren when he or she gets killed while carrying out a mission to protect the oceans from any number of threats. They stay in the physical world only long enough to complete that mission. Once they're done, they pass on into the afterlife. The powers of a siren are defined by their skills during their lifetime, but they all channel their powers through magical songs. The three general classes of sirens are warrior, illusionist or fallen siren. The body of a siren in the physical world is a semi-transparant manifestation of what they looked like during life. Their skin is a deep blue. Their eyes can be any colour the sea takes. Their hair is usually silver. Warrior sirens are usually larger and more muscled, while illusionist sirens are more slight and fragile looking. Fallen sirens are far more feral in their appearance. Their hair and eyes are black, and their skin is flushed with dark shadows. The longer they manage to stay in the physical world, the more their appearance shifts to resemble their predatory nature. They can grow claws, horns and long and jagged teeth. Their mutations tend to be highly erratic. A warrior's song reverberates with power, inspiring valor in the heart of friends and fear in the heart of enemies. An illusionist's song is usually more subtle and complicated to match the nature of their magic. The song of a fallen siren is hardly a song at all, but more of a banshee-like howl. Warrior sirens are predominantly male souls that channel powerful combat and shielding spells through their battle hymns. Their songs can be used to improve the battle skills of both themselves and those who stand by their side. However, once their shielding spells are broken they tend to become highly vulnerable, so they always tread with caution and never pursue an opponent who leaves the field of battle. Illusionist sirens are predominantly female souls that tend to sing more complicated songs than their warrior counterparts. As long as they can maintain their songs, they can channel their powerful magic, altering the physical world to suit their needs. The more pure the song is, the more powerful the magic. However, when their songs become disrupted they are even more vulnerable than muted warriors, so they rarely come closer to their enemies than they have to. Fallen sirens are quite rare and quite dangerous. A sea elf becomes a fallen siren when the family of the deceased fails to provide a proper burial ritual. They become trapped in the physical world for a while until they can no longer sustain their presence, after which they fade into oblivion, as the world beyond won't accept them. To avoid this fate they agressively attack mortals, as they can expand their lifespan in the physical world by draining the spiritual powers of others. They have lost all care for morals or values or even rational thought, only survival matters. They become spiritual predators. While they are generally benevolent spirits (with fallen sirens as the only exception), they are still spirits and as such quite vulnerable to any magic that specifically target the undead. Furthermore, travelling and manipulating the physical world without the help of their songs can be very draining for them, especially when they're on land. When their songs are muted they become nearly powerless. Some notes on creating a player profile: Name: Sirens retain the name they held during their life as a sea elf. Birth place: This is the place where the sea elf died and the soul was released into the world as a siren. Race: Just siren will do. Age: This one is a bit tricky, as sirens rarely stick around for longer than a few months. You should also mention the age of the sea elf when he or she died, as they retain their appearance, so an old elf would create an old looking siren and vice versa. Appearance: Describe what the sea elf looked like when they died, then apply the general guidelines of a siren's appearance given in the description of the race. Occupation: Warrior, illusionist or fallen, with some specific notes where needed. Standard outfit/inventory: Sirens rarely carry anything besides what they were carrying when they died, as these items passed over into the next life with them. These items may include, but aren't limited to, weapons, armour and magical items. Due to the nature of their new bodies they are unable to effectively handle any other items, and their items can't be handled by anyone else as they are directly bound to the soul. Back story: The most important thing here is the mission the siren was carrying out while they died, because completing that mission would be their goal in their new life. Since sirens are defined by their previous lives, you should list some info on what their favourite weapons/spells/skills were, since those would be used by the siren as well. Other things to pay attention to are things like their disposition towards strangers, their general character and any other relative information about their previous life, as well as some info about their current life up to the point where they enter the story. --- I'm working on a profile for a siren myself, I'll post it once you've approved it, otherwise I'll think of something else.
  24. Actually, that's just the performance during the contest, this is the actual music video.
  25. There's a music video now... We can only hope that the zombie cheerleader squad tags along to the actual competition, it would blow all the other background dancers right out of the water.
