Some fake Magic cards I made.
While they are very funny, the quality could be better. There is software out there that can help though, it has all the card templates and symbols and the the official font, so you won't have to edit existing cards. I'll see if I can find it...

Paris Hilton Releases A Single! Not A Joke!
Her manager had the recordings for that atrocity hanging in his office in a red box which read "in case of lack of publicity, break glass". There used to be three of those boxes, the first one held the sex tape. Nobody knows what the third box holds, but verily, the apocalypse shall soon be upon us should it be broken.

They got rolled up by Italy (4-1) in the friendlies. In case you forgot, they didn't make it past the group rounds at the Euro championship of 2004, and they haven't really improved much. They got lucky with their relatively weak group, but that won't save them once they reach the knockout rounds.

United States will be lucky to make it past the group rounds. Their top players play for bottom of the barrel European clubs like ADO Den Haag, or in the completely talentless mess that the American national competition is. Sweden are a bunch of brainless vikings. If you can outrun them and their battleaxe-like tackles, you'll leave them stuck in the mud while sitting on a comfortable 2 or 3-0.

Honestly, Germany won't get past the quarterfinals. The Mahnschaft is at an all-time low. They'd have had a lot of trouble qualifying if they weren't the hosts this year.

Penny Arcade's ESRB adds
Ehrm... I doubt these are actually going to be on game boxes. Like it was said before me, they're meant for magazines, maybe posters at game shops, but I don't think the ESRB has the authority to claim that much box space.

WWE!
K, I'll admit to occasionally watching the video clips at WWE.com when I get bored late at night... I even have a Wrestlemania game, but that was a gift from my brother so that doesn't count... Anyway, my favourite wrestlers would have to be the highly technical ones like Rey Mysterio or Rob van Dam, or monster heels like The Great Khali or Mark Henry. Can't stand wrestlers that just rely on gimick though.

Penny Arcade's ESRB adds
Has anybody seen these yet? They're part of an advertisement campaign for the ESRB, the Entertainment Software Rating Board, that gives out ratings for videogames depending on their content. The goal of the campaign is to target gamers in stead of parents, to make them more aware of what the ESRB does for them. There will be characters for every possible rating, and these are the first two. While I think that these illustrations will appeal to gamers in general and their target age groups in particular, I kinda wonder why they chose to make the text follow the contour of the characters. When you're 8 or 9 years old and not that good at reading yet, it's obviously going to be very hard for them to read the message. Other than that, I think this first attempt by the ESRB to address gamers directly could be succesful.

Hehe, reminds me of those videos from Soul Calibur 3, stuff like Chuck Norris vs. Jesus and Vin Diesel vs. Hitler. Very well made :P

I really don't see Sweden getting any further than the quarterfinals. Also, what little hope there was for France was broken along with Ciss̮̩'s shinbone.

where do people find pics for sigs?
Well, you can look into stock image archives like DeviantArt and sxc.hu, their stock material is generally free of copyright, although some restrictions may apply. Also, doesn't Will McDermott's name end with a double t?

Most addicting songs ever.
The song A Midnight Gathering by Haggard, the outro to their And Thou Shalt Trust The Seer album, is highly addictive for me. Its composition is very simple. The song starts with a very constant and very deep drumming, followed by the sound of horns blowing in the distance. At about 30 seconds a light flute begins playing, and after that the choir kicks in, and the rest of the song is pretty much alternating between choir and flute, with the drums constantly playing in the background in the same rythm. It's very haunting, yet for some reason very soothing at the same time.

The Myth of Atlantis in Modern Society
Actually, it's very likely that Plato's Atlantis had a strong foundation of truth, most likely in the fall of the Minoan civilization, which was based on Crete. The Minoans emerged as a civilization around 3600 BC. At the hight of their power their technological prowess was unmatched in the known world. They had their own written language, they produced pottery and murals of extremely high quality, they had flushing toilets, and they controlled a network of trade that spread out all along the Mediterenian. Greece and Turkey lie in a geographically unstable area. Earthquakes frequently shake up the area. Many of the Minoan sites show signs of earthquake damage. The eruption of the Thera, a volcano in the area, has been linked directly to the downfall of the Minoans, because tsunamis from the pyroclastic flows and caldera collapse would have completely wiped out their navy and ports - something that would have been devastating for a people that depends entirely on their seafaring skills for survival. There is a full millenium between Plato and the fall of the Minoan civilization. During that time, there was roughly four centuries of chaos, where written language was lost and most of Greece was ruled by powerhungry warlords. Very little knowledge or history survived that period, and what little information did last (Homeros' epic poetry) was highly distorted, although there has been plenty of archaeological proof for the core of the stories, the Trojan war. The core of the Atlantis story was that a highly advanced culture was destroyed in a cataclysm. There is evidence of the existance of such a culture, the Minoans, and we know that volcanic eruptions and earthquakes are frequent to the area. Of course 1000 years of distortion through people who believed that gods controlled every aspect of their lives has distorted the story greatly, but in the end it's not unlikely that it's rooted in historical events.

WTH?! #2
I'm sorry, but did you have to link to Newgrounds? Besides the ads they have for adult material they occasionally link to very intrusinve spyware. I just spent 5 minutes clicking away windows from something called 'Errorsafe', which somehow completely messed up Firefox.

Politics- Republicans and Democrats
The problem with a district-based system like America, you're basically always chosing between the lesser of two evils. If you don't vote for whoever wins your district, your vote will not be reflected in parliament, which pretty much means you're ignored. It also means that none of the political parties would be willing to take any kind of controversial stance, out of fear for losing voters. I'm very grateful that my country has a system where my vote counts no matter where I vote. I honestly can't stand the thought of having to choose between just two parties, especially if neither of those parties really reflects my political view.

The most awesome race?
Yeah, Jedi are cool and all... except... y'know... they aren't a race... sorry... The Tyrants from the Resident Evil games, now those will have me screaming like a little girl. Especially the Code Veronica Tyrant, which you have to fight inside the cargo bay of a plane, with the back hatch open, while 10.000 feet in the air

Actually, I'm impressed that he was still polite enough to ask first, even if he should have just PMed an admin or mod.

Funniest Comedians
George Carlin is funny, although he lost some of his edge since he came out of rehab. He also reuses too much material sometimes. Bill Hicks was great, but he died too soon. Richard Pryor was entertaining too. Aside from that, I really enjoy traditional Dutch cabaret, but it's a bit hard to explain to foreigners :P
