The Dreamweb - my first attempt at fiction in English
Surprise :D Part 10 With hands that were trembling with panic, the Doctor stuffed books, data discs and research reports in the old duffel bag. His mind still tried to comprehend the data the Chirurgeon had showed him. He couldn̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t believe he had been set up for failure. His mind drifted back to Tetra, all alone in the rainy night. He forced himself to ignore the involuntary twinge of sympathy that surged up inside him. There was still a 0,83% chance that she would complete her mission exactly as instructed, but the Doctor never did allow himself to be blinded by hope. If he didn̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t get out now, he̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢d be dead. No, he had to try to leave the Facility. His brilliance was too great to be wasted on a meaningless death. As the Doctor rushed down the pristine white hallways, all Facility employees seemed to ignore him. Of course, a man with his security clearance was rarely bothered with. As he turned the corner to head for the lift, he wondered if he should go for the Chirurgeon first. After only half a second of thought he decided against it. Her report mentioned nothing that could possibly shift blame on her, and the delay would probably cost him the only chance he had to make good his escape. At the end of the hall, the lift waited for him. He walked as fast as he could, encumbered by arthritis and the bulky duffel bag. Finally the Doctor felt the cool glass of the elevator̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s control panel pressed against the palm of his trembling hand. The cabin quickly zoomed down the shaft until it came to rest at the floor it had been summoned to, doors sliding silently inward to let the frightened old man in. He struggled to regain his composure, knowing that all elevators were monitored by security cameras. The journey down to the garage level seemed agonizingly slow, although it didn̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t take any longer than usual. Finally the doors opened, and the Doctor let out a sigh of relief. A sigh that was quickly stifled. ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬ÅGoing somewhere?̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬ÃâÃ

I was just thinking.....
Wouldn't that be a vicious circle? You're unhappy, you eat, you get more unhappy because you eat, you eat more because you're getting more unhappy, etc.

Banned xbox commercial
While I can see the humour in that commercial, it's probably a good thing they didn't air it. It wouldn't help the general ignorance surrounding video game violence at all.

Proofreading
I'm afraid I don't have time for this, but I must say I'm glad somebody is willing to step up :D

The Dreamweb - my first attempt at fiction in English
Part 9 Thomas sighed as he walked down the street. Club Wonderland still looked the same, a grimy, filthy mess. The sign still hadn̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t been fixed. The music was still bad. It̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s clientele still existed of misfits and losers. He trudged through a pool of rainwater, the cold liquid immediately seeping through the cracked leather of his boots. He ignored the numbing pain, walking ever onwards towards the club. He would get new ones once he got his payment. The second mind had been almost as hard to retrieve as the first. The information Tetra had provided him with conveniently omitted that the target was a member of a violent street gang ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ a violent street gang that was waiting for him. Still, he had managed to get in and retrieve the mind from the Dream machine without being noticed. As he put his right foot down he winced at the painful twinge that shot up his right thigh. Getting out without being noticed had proven harder, and he had to run for his life. He had managed to avoid most of the gunfire, but one bullet had grazed his leg. With no money for medical treatment, his only option had been to patch the wound up himself. Now, every step was a wince. Still, he was used to physical discomfort so he managed to ignore it. Now, with the two trappers nested inside his coat pocket, Thomas stepped into the crowded main area of the club. He cringed as the flashing coloured lights hit his eyes, pulsating in sync with the music. He had worked his body and mind too hard for the past few days, and he was beginning to feel it. More than ever, his body felt weak, useless. When this was all over, he would look into taking a vacation. Finally he arrived at the booth Tetra̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s email had directed him to, the same booth they had sat in a week ago, when he had been given his arduous task. She still looked young but confident, small yet strong. She was dressed in exactly the same clothes, wore her hair in exactly the same style. It was as if Thomas had simply walked out and back in immediately, even the unnerving scent of freshly mown hay still clung to her. It took him a few seconds to realize that he was staring. ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬ÅGood evening mister Gaelen, I see you̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢ve found my message̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬ÃâæÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬ÃâÃ

It's a different version of a famous Greek philosophical dilemma: "All Cretans are liars," said the Cretan.

The reason Jagex added Rule 13.
*expects a tripling of RS players within the next two weeks* :P Seriously though, seems to me to be just another case of lack of comon sense...

Help a true gamer in his time of need
That's no excuse. This is just another attention seeking thread in which nothing new or original is being said. If you want to know which console to buy, just try them all. It's not like people on an internet forum can generally tell you how a console/game will feel for you.

Statler & Waldorf: From the Balcony
http://movies.go.com/moviesdynamic/muppets/index Has anyone seen these reviews? They still have the old Statler & Waldorf humour, even though they haven't been recorded with the original voice actors: "50 cents plays an inner city drug dealer who turns to rap to avoid a life of crime..." "...though the real crime here is that the movie got made!" "In the Goblet of Fire, Harry and his pals face the most terrifying monster yet!" "Yeah, puberty!"

{MFAI}WELCOME! Learn and ask your questions about Islam here
Alright, I have a question now. It's been pretty clearly stated that non-Muslims can also go to heaven, if they have led 'good' lives. Is there any clear definition of what 'good' is? Is it just living by the rules stated by the Qu'ran without actually declaring the Shahadah, or is Allah more lenient towards non-Muslims in subjects like alcohol because of their 'ignorance'?

{MFAI}WELCOME! Learn and ask your questions about Islam here
i really don't think they meant it that way. is there any proof that they didn't mean it that way? Literature, especially in ancient times, is thick with metaphores. For example, approx. 1500 years before the Qu'ran was written, Homer's Oddesey spoke of "words escaping from the hedge of your teeth", which basically means "saying something stupid." A metaphore is simply a way to make a text more interesting for the listeners/readers.

{MFAI}WELCOME! Learn and ask your questions about Islam here
Wow, that's a very impressive post. While I don't have any questions right now, I really hope this thread won't be run over by ignorant flamers and trolls, so much hard work doesn't deserve that, and you really seem sincere about informing people about your beliefs. Good luck with it :)

HAPPY THANKSGIVING! (fake image)
It's a really nice fake, but maybe you should think about redoing the text. It looks kinda amateuristic next to the actual image :?

Metal bands - Recommendations?
Right, I guess that's my cue. Power: Try Dream Evil, they're a Swedish band that has some very cheesy songs/lyrics, but solid musicianship. Also, Concero Moon. They're a Japanese power band. Their main weakness is that the production is sometimes quite poor, but they can be enjoyable. Progressive: Dream Theater. Nuff said. Besides that, try Ayreon. There are many influences in their metal operas, but Prog is usually the dominant sound. Note that this isn't a band, but a series of projects produced by Arjen Lucassen with a wide host of guest musicians, most notably Bruce [bleep]inson (Flight of the Migrator) and James LaBrie (The Human Equation.) Gothic: No idea if you're looking for the more traditional stuff (Lacrimosa) or more directly metal-orientated bands (Tristania). Death: Not really into that, but early Therion material might be what you're looking for, probably the EP "Time Shall Tell." Can't really help you any further than that. Some other bands you might want to look into... Oomph!: German industrial band, allong the lines of Rammstein, although they've been around a lot longer. A good album to start with would be Wahrheid Oder Pflicht. Haggard: Symphonic metal band with 18 members. They use a lot of classical instruments, and a lot of their instrumental parts are written along the lines of traditional classical music. The classical elements, along with some slight folky influences and a metal base provide some pretty solid music. The vocals are a mix of traditional operatic vocalists and death metal grunts. (More when I get home)

Mario Kart DS
It seems like Mario Kart DS has the potential to do the same to this system as Tetris did to the original Gameboy. Does anyone know if there's a bundle out yet? Christmas is coming up soon...

Harry potter and the GOF, possible theory*spoiler*
The underlying messages about racism, and to a lesser extent class society, were pretty much obvious from book one, where Harry first met Malfoy as he got his robes tailored, where Draco warns Harry to stay away from certain families.

The Dreamweb - my first attempt at fiction in English
Part nine should be done by the end of this weekend, if I can get my shoulder fixed up properly... *kicks a nasty combination of writer's block and homework overload.* I'd kick the stairs too, but I'd just fall down again :|

Covers VS. Originals
Arjen Lucassen and After Forever - Who Wants To Live Forever Never released on any album, the file floats around under both that artist tag and Ayreon and After Forever if you look for it. The way they changed the song into a duet is brilliant.
-
Bullet For My Valentine - The Poison
To be honest metalcore isn't really my cup of tea, but it's more listenable than most albums in that genre that have come out for the past few months.

How fast can you beat Solitare?
42 seconds on three cards is my personal best. Can't remember the score though.

Oi, we were cheated out of it twice, 1974 and 1978. Especially in 1974, wrongful penalty.

Australia in the World Cup, Curse Broken
After today, it's official that four Dutch coaches will be leading a team for the world cup: Guus Hiddink - Australia Leo Beenhakker - Trinidad & Tobago [bleep] Advocaat - South Korea Marco van Basten - Holland I wonder if any other country has that many coaches on the tournament...
