Runescape today is, in my opinion, what the USA was in the 1980s - the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. There is such a gap between the rich and poor that it's plainly pathetic. You have dip[cabbage]s like Chessy018 hoarding all the rares for themselves and good, honest runescapers spending hours just to buy dclaws or a whip. It pisses me off. Thoughts?

I heard that Chessy018 is very powerful on the RS blackmarket, just rumors though.

When the changes happened in 2007 all of the old stakers etc dumped their phats into the GE thus they started falling. Everyone else who had one as an investment sold it out of fear. This made them essentially worthless to players. Some very wealthy, smart (yet very selfish) people knew that if they bought discontinued items at that time, they would eventually recover and become valuable again. So while the hats were falling in price, some players were quietly sucking up as many of them as they could. Then they started to recover and the street price went up so the common folks started buying again. Then when the PVP statuettes came out there was massive inflation and in time that money all filtered up and the wealthy got wealthier. Thus, there are more people with MASSIVE cash piles that choose to invest in rares. Junk. Items that have GE value but no 'street value'. Essentially, they are items that are limited as to how low they can go in the GE (because of price floors or because or corosponding items). Also, there is 'crashing junk' which are items that had a very high value before, but are now worthless and are falling in price in the GE. Most of this is just items that have been manipulated by clans and just been dumped. Every time Jagex makes a move to eliminate bots, botters take two steps forward. So, as hard as Jagex tries they will never get rid of botters. But the 2007 updates did help lower the RWT impact in-game (it's coming back though) as well as in real life with things like Credit card fraud. Also, how did the update take away anything fun? The only things that suffered were staking for cash, PKing (BH came out with the removal of PKing which was exactly the same but a smaller space, and with recent changes, it's better then it was before), and free trade. So unless your only idea of fun is killing players or item scamming, then nothing else changed (much). Thank you. You rock for giving such a great response. :thumbsup: But my idea of fun was pking, staking mils, and luring with the champs. I know I'll get flammed for saying this, but they were the glory days of RS. I loved pking the green dragon botters and I also loved luring the poor, gullible noob. It was great.

I returned to RS after taking a year break and I see that phats are 1.5bil+ on the street? Wtf? And can someone tell me how they do this? Also, what's with all the complaining about botters, didn't jagex take care of that already with their stupid,idiotic, and just plain annoying update that took away almost everything fun in RS?

If bots were ever truly gone, you would be begging for them back. No. I hate them, they ruin prices. If bots were gone, people could make money from skills like fishing, woodcutting, mining. Amounts of money over the current 15k an hour or so at yews. I wouldn't mind paying a bit extra for resources. Bots make stuff crowded. Bots clog up the servers. How could bots possibly help me? (Not rhetorical) Protip: everything bots clog up is [cabbage]ty money even when their not there. Yews will NEVER be decent money, sharks will NEVER be the best money maker, mining bots are irrelevant get 77 mining and it wouldnt matter if theres 1 bot or 500. When you stop doing the stupid money making methods like those and train skills the fast way (ivy for woodcutting, LRC for mining (easiest way), barb fishing for fishing, and have a half decent money maker on the side, you will get more money and more xp per hour then doing "profitable" skilling. Also because theres so many bots you can buy tons of yews for cheap and get your fletching up, get prayer up for cheaper then otherwise, now even herblore with the ranaar spawn. Bots hurt only those who hurt themselves already. They will never be decent money if bots are still there. If bots are gone, yews will double in price and be empty. That is when they become profitable. The main reason they're not profitable now is the botting there. And as you said, they're still clogging it up. Remember a time when green dragons were good money? No. Because of the bots. Sharks won't be the best, but they will be better. And the methods you said as alternatives are for training. And about prices, I couldn't care less about paying more. Ever heard of inflation? My items would be worth more, so I could pay more by selling stuff. I'd be able to use the new moneymaking methods like yews and green dragons as well as my old ones to make up for it. even if yews doubled in price they'd be under 400k p/h at 99 :rolleyes: With reasonable stats bots help you at green dragons, as you can get the kill almost every time. I don't see what inflation has to do with this and yews are definetly not a moneymaking method. This. Sword you can easily make over 600k an hour with your crappy stats. Collecting raw recources such as yews will NEVER be good money maker, and if they double in price (which they wont its stuck where it is because of alch price) then guess what it STILL isnt good money If there werent bots Green dragons would be excellent money! But dont a thread about prayer being ridiculously expensive. Level 99 costs 500mil? no that wouldnt be an exageration. However you STILL can make better moeny then green drags on an empty world. Dozens of methods that are extremely good money and no bots are near you. Its ironic that your melee stats are only marginally lower then mine and your knowledge is still vastly inferior to mine, not to sound like an elitist by saying that, but its just goes to show levels =/= knowledge You're right. I'm not entirely certain; however, I think it's because school is about to start for some players who happen to be rich. Usually, before school starts, players dump their items, sell them, until they return to play during vacation.

I've came back to tip.it, though I joined in 2006. I hope to positively contribute to tip.it in the days to come.
