April 3, 200719 yr Thats right, Microsoft has announced that Halo 2 will be released on the PC. The catch? :| It will only run on Vista... -.- Ahahaha! (Im trying to find the article at the moment, but it was printed at PC Gamer magazine.) Well I guess thats Microsoft for you... =D> The Enrichment Center reminds you that the weighted companion cube will never threaten to stab you and, in fact, cannot speak. April 3, 200719 yr And you just found out about this? It's been up on Bungie since it's been announced >.< And I don't mind about Vista, I'm glad it is good enough that is only capable of running of Vista. :) Quality is number one in my book. April 3, 200719 yr Wow, the ability to play a 3-year-old console port designed to run on a 733MHz machine with 64MB RAM will definitely draw me to vista!
April 3, 200719 yr Wow, the ability to play a 3-year-old console port designed to run on a 733MHz machine with 64MB RAM will definitely draw me to vista! Woohoo! *rushes off to buy vista*. Yeah I heard this a few months ago. IMO I don't think its exactly going to rake in the sales for vista :/.
April 3, 200719 yr What would be nice, would be if it was made so that I could play Halo 2 (even Gears of War  ) online on my PC, against my mates who would be online with their 360's...

April 3, 200719 yr I think your missing the point. XP isn't powerfull enough to run it. Either it comes out on vista, or it doesn't come out at all! Bull. It was on the xbox so it isn't even running off the Direct X 10 drivers. They could release for xp if they wanted to.

(Live Anywere) Sorry what? I'm not into all the Xbox 'lingo'. Are you saying I can buy a game for my PC, have my friends buy the same game for their 360's, and then be able to play them online with it? I was under the impression that only one game has ever done that, and its not even out yet (vaguely remember some futuristicy FPS on Gamer TV once...) Sounds awful crazy to me maaan [/paranoid, high, black man voice]

However, it will be the first to utilize Live Anywhere (you can join up for 50 bucks a year, so you can talk to people on Xbox360's and get achievements :\). However, the first game to have actual 360-PC playability will be Shadowrun, which I believe ships later this year. And as for XP not being powerful enough to run it, that's a joke. XP can run Crysis, a game too demanding for an Xbox360, but it CAN'T run a game that ran smooth on 360's predecessor.
April 4, 200719 yr The port's gonna use DX10. More physics. OK?!?!?!??! MORE BOOM. Everything in Halo 2 was pretty static, I don't think more or less physics would matter much. :-s

April 6, 200719 yr *sigh* It's just called Halo Vista, i doubt very much that it will just be available to vista users... Deviant Art Account2 Signatures | 6 Photographs | 1 Other
April 6, 200719 yr I think your missing the point. XP isn't powerfull enough to run it. Either it comes out on vista, or it doesn't come out at all! Like Nadril said: bull. I already posted the system specs of the Xbox that it was designed to run on. They are almost on a par with my phone, CPU-wise (HTC Universal, 520MHz & 32MB RAM). It is just that they are deliberately making it incompatible to force those who want to play it to buy vista. Hell, I bet one could even emulate the Xbox version well enough if such an emulator existed. It has diddly squat to do with the power of XP. It has everything to do with MS trying to force people into using a certain OS.

Xbox's and computer specifications are a lot different because there is nothing eating up the resources on an Xbox, but on a computer there is tons. Espicially for Vista. And if you've seen the screens, it has a lot better graphics than the Xbox version.

Vista is a huge resource hog compared to XP and would make no sense to put it on Vista. Who cares about upgraded graphics? I highly doubt it is going to be using Direct X10 specific features and, even if somehow it does, it should still be able to run on DX9 with those features turned off.

You have said nothing to refute my post about vista being no more capable of 'handling it' than XP. If anything you have supported my argument by stating how vista has more resource-hogging services.

No because your saying you can run it on a PC that has like 700mhz and 64mb of RAM. Your the god damn idiot. April 6, 200719 yr No because your saying you can run it on a PC that has like 700mhz and 64mb of RAM. Your the god damn idiot. You have the comprehension skills of a 5 year old. Read the sentence of mine that you quoted. I never said that. I said the game was designed to run on a 733MHz CPU with 64MB RAM (it was designed to run on a system with that spec - the Xbox). I made no mention of being able to play it on a PC with that spec. You're the 'god damn' idiot.
