Why does Jagex dislike pures ? do they?

Well, many times we can notice how jagex does things to bother pures, or just shows some sort of dislike to pures in their game.

But I was wondering why they do this? Pures are usually second accounts of paying members, people who make pures don't often stop paying for their main, and some people even make 3 or even more accounts to have all different kinds of pure, AND pay membership for all of them.

So what I was wondering, if jagex makes so many chances to attract new members, why not promote making pures? They would double their amount of members if everyone would make at least 1 pure.

Discuss if you have any idea what they really have got against pures, or if we are really just imagining them to?

EDIT: I REPEAT: I do not think jagex discriminates pures or anything because they can't wear the armor with def requirements -.-

please just read all posts before replying ty :) or just don't reply, since this topic isn't really going anywhere, I was hoping to get some good reasons about why jagex didn't like pures but only jagex knows so nvm.

1.like a huge percentage of pures drop trade from the mains (not trying to offend any pure owners, just saying). And I'd guess only 5% of pures made are actualy made members at some point.

Andrew said that they dont not like them.

He actually said something like "it's not in the spirit of the game" and I agree with that. I don't think a level 40 archer with 99hps and 99 range should be able to kill a lvl 90.

You said some pures are secondary accounts so therefore jagex has no reason to dislike them.

But what about pures that are primary accounts? You didn't address that.

Pures don't get certain features because they don't train certain skills, and then rant about how it's unfair. I get called a def noob, and how it's soo much better to have defence, yet they don't train it.

i 2nd that

Barrows drops: ahrims staff (2), karils coif, karils xbow, torags plate body, veracs helm.

uhm kenshi: you might be pretty close with that percentage, but only because there are some people who make 40 f2p pures and then leave them (like my lil bro  ) Other then that, there are MANY paying pures, believe me. I've seen them :P

And why is it not in the spirit of the game that a lvl 60-70+ because it's not very possible at 40 can kill a lvl 90 if the pure is better prepared for wilderness combat and spent more time training his stats?

adam, I don't know what difference there would be with primary pures? they are still paying members, and I don't believe there are many pure accounts which are that persons only paying account. but there may be some, I wouldn0t know why jagex would dislike those either though :S

smapla, I completely agree on you that pures have no right to rant about not getting certain features or calling people def noobs just because they chose not to get def, which of the two options is better though is not for you nor me to decide. But that still doesn't explain why pures aren't liked by jagex :S

I am seriously wondering why they wouldn't like pures, or IF we are really just imagining it.

say 1 def pures were given fighter torso berserker helm and barrows gloves they would be insanely overpowered imo so its more likely that jagex is just trying to keep it fair, so if they decide they want to have a higher str level and lower def then they also have to have a lower str bonus

That's not a joke btw. Pures do suck.

Doesn't jagex only hate the pures that drop trade? I remember hearing that somewhere.

I acidently posted on this because I though it was that 99 topic, then I knew it wasn't so I just posted...well spam

I think pures are powerful enough, that normal characters should be able to obtain additional items to compensate for it.

you also are just generally ranting, blah blah us poor pures. Can you name some specific things that are done to show that jagex doesnt like pures.

I'm one of those accounts :D, but I believe the whole "Jagex hates pures" is just something created by the pures themselves as they continually complain about not being able to do certain things and therefore complain. And for those who say "omg i hate pures they should not be allowed", its part of the game and the wildy, avoid the wilderness, avoid fighting them, or maybe train your defence so that they will never hit you  .

And using a cliche here, if you cant beat them, join them! :)

thnx for actually adding to the topic here screech :) But you are one of the very few ;) I do think that we partially imagine jagex being against pures but they have definitely mentioned and shown their dislikes against pures every now and then.

ohw and bobbaldrick

1) where and how am I ranting about US pures? since when am I a pure ? maybe visit my blog and check ;) ohw and yeah I used to have a pure account and never felt offended by jagex for being a pure.

2) About those specific things, the point of this topic was also to discuss whether jagex disliking pures is just our imagination so don't ask me to name specific things -.-

Jagex has said that they didn't think pures were the spirit of the game (as stated above -.- ). And I can really see why they don't like them. When RS was first made, they probably did it to let people have some fun. train all their skills, go questing, etc. However, they didn't ever imagine some guy drop trading 100m onto his new pure staker (to train no skills but the desired) and Get 99 mage/range at a ridiculously low cb lvl (which is ridiculous IMO <.< ).

Well you can earn 100mill without drop trading no problems, not to mention, you dont need 100mill to get 99 strength, you even make money while pcing for it. And I can't see what's wrong with it either, seriously you shouldn't think it's easy to get 99 strength on an account with 1 defense, I should know, I trained up to 87 strength at experiments :ohnoes:

and if their objective really was to let people have fun playing their game, then why not let the people decide on how they make their fun? and I really don't think they care that much about fun as they do about money (can we really blame them? we do the same thing, remember the poll about new skill etc.) and since pures make them lots of money....

I would say that they dont like pures because they are essentially deceptive. the combat level is much lower then the total fighting ability and effectiveness. in addition, pures are a form of emergant gameplay and while Jagex isnt outlawing pures, they dont have to support them or make pure's easier.

Anyone who thinks Jagex "doesn't like pures" is missing a fundamental point -- Jagex is the only reason there are pures at all.

They exist because Jagex made a combat level formula that favors their creation. If Jagex really wanted to get rid of them, all they have to do is revise that formula.

They don't.

How do you figure? I have a pure that I would never even consider making a member.

Anyway, I think that Jagex likes pures and sees it as a way of emergent gameplay.

srry that had to say at least 1 paying pure, I'm off to correct that.

well we've seen through time that jagex at least show disliking to pures "not being in the spirit of the game".

and qeltar, come on, you really think jagex can change their combat formula right now? :shame:

sniper, I agree they don't have to support pures, but them being "deceptive" isn't really true, they have more attacking ability then cb lvl shows, but a lot less defensive skills then cb lvl shows, and even it they were deceptive, people would know how to recognize a pure and its stats by now.
