With tip it being quite a close community, has no-one thought of using Ventrilo at all? Ive been playing a few other MMORPGS over the last few months, and in each one, Ive gound Ventrilo can make training and playng a real treat at times.

 

 

 

No idea if this has been mentioned before, anyone any thoughts on the matter?

Just realised some people might not know what I mean. Ventrilo is like Teamspeak, you can talk to others using a microphone and the amount of people is decided depending which server you are on. Its a free program and there are a few public channels that you can use for free.

 

 

 

Some games use it for just chatting, or when on quests/hunts/dungeons, or any other reason you'd need to chat in real time with someone.

- My skills are now really, really lame ! Time to fix that! -

This is less a post on WHY we dont have one, more of a , would anyone be interested post. All games have chat, but the RS chat system is very restricted compared to most imo.

I've always felt as if I'm the only person who can understand the concept of sarcasm on the internet.

Its extremely useful for clans. Too bad that the clan war system in RS is pretty much static. People gather in two spots, count opts and start slaying each other. With teamspeak you could take tactics much futher. Like split your clan up in divisions. Then cordniate all theese by a team leader over teamspeak. Would make trapping, attacking and retreating much easier. Maybe evolve the clan war system a bit.

I had TS for a game called Planetside. Pretty good, just sometimes you have no idea who is talking (TS Overlay solved that). I know an Overlay system wouldn't work for RS unless you ran RS in the program (Kind of like that one 3rd client for RS, forgot the name :oops: ). They'd probably deem it illegal though.

 

 

 

A chat would still be cool.

Just a question for any other linux users here, does Vent wine well? Or do we have a version that connect to either TS or Vent, Messenger style... ?
