new piece wip (update #6)

APERSON

Recommended Posts

This is a new piece I'm working on. Kind of a first for me with this comic book style art. Open to any c/c or comments :) I'm slowly clothing her as I go along, when I'm done hopefully she will be fully armoured.

[hide=First Draft]d-sig-pose-1.jpg[/hide]

OK worked on the body shading some, gave her a little more deffinition, fixed some of the facial problems and changed her hair. I also shaded her bikini some too even though they will eventually be covered by armour anyways...

[hide=Second Draft]d-sig-pose-2.jpg[/hide]

Worked on the face shading some, finished her left leg and added some of the chainmail of the torso armour. Really kind of curious what you all think about the mail. Again, not finished but getting closer :P

[hide=Third Draft]d-sig-pose-4.jpg[/hide]

Fixed neck, added some plates to the chainmail, added some belts, smallish update I guess...

[hide=Fourth Draft]d-sig-pose-5.jpg[/hide]

Upper torso armor done, that leaves me with weapon, arms and cape to finish this piece...

[hide=Fifth Draft]d-sig-pose-6.jpg[/hide]

Haven't had a lot of time to work on this so I just have a smallish update, worked on the eyes some and have gone through several versions of a sword, am having a hard time shading it, but I'll get it figured out.

[hide=Sixth Draft]d-sig-pose-7.jpg[/hide]

Here's another update, shaded the sword and added some speculars, hope I did it right :wink:

Your Anatomy is beautiful APERSON, love how this is turning out, pretty different to your previous work (from what I've seen) but yea really nice so far.

My main problems with this is that it requires a bit more attention to the facial structure, imo I think the eyes are slightly too high giving her a stretched look and along with the nose it just seems slightly out of place considering you've got the body down pretty well.

edittk3.jpg

I've made an edit if you don't mind, not exactly a pro at this but I am used to working with pixels so I shouldn't be making too much of a fool outta myself. Just moved the eyes a pixel down and straightened the nose out a bit.

The eyes are maybe a bit too felinine'ish, theres no need for the eye lashes to come to such a point. The jawline too just seemed like its just too masculine, tried to soften that up.

Oh and atm maybe your colours are a 'bit' too dull, don't be afraid to knock up the saturation a tad, with the style I think it'd be a shame with it so dull.

Keep it up, looking forward to how this turns out.

The facial anatomy looks a little odd as Terley said... I wouldn't have noticed if he hadn't said anything lol, I didn't really pay much attention to the face...

Sorry, but the armor doesn't look like their on her, they look like they're just stickers slapped on to a picture, if you don't understand what I mean.

Othat than that, it's going by pretty good. :-w

if your saying that the girl looks cartoony and the armor looks more digital and that why it looks wierd i agree, but yeah looking awesome so far, i cant wait to see future updates :thumbsup:

Hmm.. Ok, you say this is a work in progress? It's great so far, I love it! :mrgreen:

Some hopefully helpful critique:

As one guy put it, the armor just seems slapped on. If you haven't already, shade behind the armor on her legs, just a little though, because of your light source. Anatomy wise, it's wonderful.. Though, the shoulders and hips should be a bit wider. I love her hair.. But it does seem kinda plastic... Or is that just my monitor acting up on me again -_-;; *Hit*

One more thing.. Her private parts are too triangular.. Just pointing it--*shot*

*bleeds silently*

its pretty good, but i agree with whoever said that the armour doesnt look liek its on her. I mean, its thinner than her thighs. Its not even around her whole leg! and what the... its over her boots..... i dont get it.

There's a few anatomy problems.

Shoulder width, breasts, head size, shape and features and the torso shading all need some fixing.

I agree with the armour critique.

It's pretty cool so far, good luck with it.

First off, thanks everybody for commenting on my work so far. And thank you Terley for the great C/C! That's awesome how you really take an interest and try to help. Something had been bothering me about the face and now I see it :D

As far as the armour seeming like rub on tattoo's, all I can say is I'm not done with it yet, still needs shading and buckles to fasten it onto her. Hopefully the end product won't look like that.

After surfing through some wicked art on DA yesterday I think I might attempt to better the body shading that I have. It's all just trial and error for me. This is the first piece that I have actually used the pen tool.

Thanks again for the comments I'll try to get some significant work done before I post again. :)

EDIT: Oh and that other piece I was working on I got bored of, and I lost all my files due to an OS fatal error, so lack of interest + no psd file = no workie :(

Looks great (I liked the style of blonde hair better though, it added to the cartooness :D)

What bugs me is the leg area, the legs don't connect at one point (which you probably know XD)

But as someone else said, the bottom part on her bikini looks too pointy and the bottom should be wider... :-$

LOL nice cartoon. Yea, I realize that there is a space; what I was going for in this piece is kind of an angle so you can't really see the space. Doesn't really matter though because it will be covered with armour and hopefully it will look right. Thanks for pointing it out though. :)

Worked on the face shading some, finished her left leg and added some of the chainmail of the torso armour. Really kind of curious what you all think about the mail. Again, not finished but getting closer :P

I like the texture and style of it, very nice. But it's skin tight which to me seems a little wierd for chainmail. :cry: It's so pretty.... so much detail :cry:

But yeh you're doing a great job and I'm so excited to see how it turns out that I could pee myself in anticipitation. :-s (Well maybe not THAT excited o_O)

LOL. I didn't want to lose the curves so I went with impossibly skin tight chainmail, super uncomfortable I'm sure. The price you pay for beauty I guess :P

dont you think that the chainmail looks more like a shirt made of some scaly hide?

No, I'm actually quite pleased with the way it came out, my best chainmail to date.

Looks great, I really like it, but those eyes are bothering me, it looks like her eyes are not looking into the same direction.

She has a lazy eye... :cry:

"She" has an adams apple :shock:

LOL how do you figure that?

neck3in5.jpg

Maybe a bit too defined, but not an adams apple by any means...

EDIT: But actually thanks for that comment, the neck had been bothering me and now I see why, now its fixed and will show on next update, thanks again. :)
