Well I have just returned to RS from a 8 month break (was deployed to Iraq) and have been slaying for last 3 weeks, on my way down the long forever road to 99 slayer. In the last 3 weeks I have had 17 abby assignments, numbering between 147 and 196 from shilo village master. Not one whip drop, it rained rune meds and chains, but no whip. So I high alched my wealth, made ten new ones and before each of the last 7 assignments, I swapped them out.....nothing.

 

 

 

So I got task number 18 of abbys (196) today, after doing 192 black demons. first 50 abbys; 2 rune chains, one rune medium, lev 3 clue, and... a whip *blinks*...*stares hard at screen*....."Wooot!" about freaking time. You see, last year before I deployed, I gave my whip to my wife (RL not RS), thinking that when I returned, I'd go slap around a few hundred abbys and get myself another....nope...try over 3k abbys to get another (on task).

so the end of a dry spell....anyone else have similar strries when you're trying for a particular item? especially the whip? Did the drop rate change? or is it the normal randomness of the game? :uhh:

 

 

 

anyway, it made my freaking day.

 

 

 

EDIT: ROFL, I went and did my clue (got rune junk) and came back to finish the last of the abbys I was assigned, 45 abbys later...WHIP!.....OMG.

Ok well i got 85 slayer in january of this year got 1 whip manybe first week i had 85 and now it its June and im still on whip number 1 and about 5-6 abby tasks in slayer and no whip....

Hmm, that does seem a bit - disappointing, until you got that whip! Actually, I'm not much of a combat fan, and I hate slayer. But I have had similar experienced, of course, they can't quite compare to that. From TT or monsters, I've never got anything truly valuable, but I haven't gotten items that I had originally planned on getting.

You still get a chain in 100-200 kills, infact the the most absurd number ive ever seen from a D chains drop rate. The most kills it took me was 123 kills for a chain, when a friend and I killed for 8 chains.

 

Why post with fake numbers? Why waste your time?

as for the question, i don't do anything that gives random results. my slayer isn't high enough for good drops, the first clue i did got me a addy pic and dagger so i haven't done a clue since, although i have tried to get one from ankous for errr 3 months :oops: .

 

 

 

actually it's not a fake number, a lot of my high lvl friends get chains every 50-150 kills, and they have RoW on. i wouldn't know, im a pathetic lvl 77, will be for a while because i'm skilling a lot. the numbers are bound to change from person to person if they haven't killed too many kqs, but around the 10k range, if anyone has ever killed that many, it evens out.

This ALWAYS happens to me when I'm going for clue scrolls. When I want level 2, I fight guards, and I almost NEVER get them when I want them.

 

 

 

Then I was killing jungle horrors for slayer, and the first one drops a clue scroll!!! I finish the assignment, do the clue scroll, then I need some nats to alch some of the stuff I got. Instead of buying them and crafting them, I go kill some more jungle horrors for them, and the 3rd one drops a clue scroll.

 

 

 

I then think "Maybe these guys drop clue scrolls more often than guards." So I go to fight the jungle horrors for a clue scroll. Guess what? It was the Jungle Horror massacre when I was through, and NOT A SINGLE CLUE SCROLL!!!! This really ticks me off!!!

 

 

 

And a real quick off topic statement: thank you lordkrohn for serving our country. Ignore all those people that say "*Curse that rhymes wth duck* the troops!!" They just think you want to be over killing innocent people in the hot sun, while you're like 30,000 miles from home. Believe me, I know you don't want to be over there. 88+ dry runs at barrows. on the 89th run, i get dharok legs (600k)

 

 

 

oh well, it was a start. after that, ive gotten multiple items over 1-2m range, as well as my 2nd spear. so it all worked out.

take some serious slaying time, but anything is possible. Don't range, it is to slow of a slay rate, use cannon if you get like black demons. good luck

wow, and I thought I had crappy luck. Yeah that's why I don't camp there, I just wanted one for myself, and after 3k+, got two within 45 kills...lol go figure. I use shilo also, I like the high numbers he gives. I am working straight to 99 slayer, any advice?
