ROBOSRUS
Taken from RSC http://observer.guardian.co.uk/magazine ... 2,00.html# Parents send their children to child facilities in the US and the Caribbean. They are sent against their will(kidnapped, as you can't transport a minor across state or international borders without consent) and brainwashed. Failure to comply results in corporal punishment(beatings) and being forced to lie on your face. The current record for being forced to lie on ones face is held by a girl, 18 months. Not sure where to put this, but honestly everyone needs to read. specialcharacter
Why would you even let your child be kidnapped how [developmentally delayed]ed do you have to be let them be driven hundreds of miles away with complete strangers who, by the sounds of things could be peadophiles? vladmoney
Why would you even let your child be kidnapped how [developmentally delayed] do you have to be let them be driven hundreds of miles away with complete strangers who, by the sounds of things could be peadophiles? Some teens are just uncontrollable, for those parents tough love is the only way to get their child back. I guarantee you these people are not pedophiles either. Of course abuse is not the answer, tough love can be applied without abuse. I think these schools should reconsider some of their tactics, but I do believe these schools should exist. Kidnapping might be going to far, but you have to realize that might be the only way to get these kids to go to boot camp style schools. You can't just ask them to go. hellbellz
I agree that these schools should be here. Some kids are honostly just too much to handle. But in my honost opinion, I don't beleive any violence is the answer to helping someone. That's why jail's don't help inmates with their lives, they just make them worse. From what I understand, when people are in jail they're supposed to get their life back together - but they seem to just go downhill.

Led-Zeppelin
Bad kids don't just happen. It has come from error of the parent in the first place. But yes, these schools should exist, some things are taken a bit too far, but where do I apply to be one of the teachers doing the mean things? \
Bubsa
Bad kids don't just happen. It has come from error of the parent in the first place. True, and if the parents are willing to let the kids be kidnapped, well, there's just no hope, is there? :P This is how much you all raised for charity. Thank you. True, and if the parents are willing to let the kids be kidnapped, well, there's just no hope, is there? :P well its not always controllable, I mean single parents can't look out for their kids, some can't afford to live in nicer neighborhoods, school system could suck too. All these factors are also there, and yea some parents might not know how to control a crazy teenager, so what should we do now? Just let these kids run amok causing havoc, doing drugs, killing? These schools should exist, no doubt about it. Like I said about the kidnapping, yea its a little far, but maybe that is the only way we can get these kids to go to these boot camp schools. No out of control teenager is going to take a drive with his mother to a boot camp school. Lionheart_0
Bad kids don't just happen. It has come from error of the parent in the first place. I'm starting to wonder if this is true or not.... Using myself as an example. My dad and mom smoke pot, and my dad used to be a heavy drinker (He has sworn off alcohol for the rest of his life now though). My dad has a bad temper, and has always lashed out at random times (nothing too bad, just being angry when he really shouldnt be). They have always given us so much freedom (I can basically drink and go out and have huge parties when ever i want to). But guess what, despite having these parents and having so much freedom, I've grown up to be the compleat opposite. I don't do drugs, I don't stay out till the early hours of morning, I almost never swear, I'm curtious to others, I'm very respectful. How does it happen I'm the exact opposite of my parents? Perhaps its not how parents act but something else they do? Sig by IkuraiYour Guide to Posting! Behave or I will send my Moose mounted Beaver launchers at you! Perhaps its not how parents act but something else they do?well it looks like you parents spent much less time raising you then most others do (such as setting curfews), so it would make sense that you would not become something they didn't raise you to be. Of course I'm not necessarily talking about child neglect, just simply that the less rules your parents set and the less control they take of you, the less you grow up to be like them. and although parents do play a huge role in determining who you will become, they don't guarantee anything. Who you are is also determined simply by who you were born to be (AKA your brain chemistry) which also determines how easily your parents can affect your personality as you grow. So it's also largely about you as a person, someone else in your position may have grown up to be a drug addict or a heavy drinker, simply because they were different from birth. reaper88888
How the hell can people do that? Seems like reasonable grounds for murder to me... :-w There is no meaning or truth in life but that which we create for ourselves.
underu2000
I dunno, i dont think we heard all the sides of the story here. True, that one punishment may be severe, but like some others said, maybe the kids there deserved it. Not the kidnapping part, but lying on your face doesn't sound much more severe than being grounded to me (at least for a strict punishment). On the other hand, doing it for 18 months is harsh... Read it again, "the current record is held by a girl for 18 months". People dont get punished without a reason. Who knows what that girl did to get such a tough punishment? Corporal punishment is hardly an issue as long as you dont break any bones. There are plenty of countries around the world where beating kids is akin to basic discipline (i dont live in one though...hehe). It would be helpful if we could get another perspective here, maybe one from the parents who sent their kids there. I dont think there's enough here to come up with conclusions. Life is a joke. Yeah, I don't get it either.
