94 + MAGIC: WORTH IT?

Hey everyone, I recently have been dueling at the arena, my combat stats are in the 80s, and I won a lot, and with winning comes losing, so I lost mainly like a good 100 M at the dueling arena. Anyway, I don't really want to talk about that, but I was wondering something.

 

 

 

I have enough cash to bring my 70s in magic up to 99 buy purchasing a ton, and I mean A TON of yew longs/nature runes. I have no problem getting to 99 magic seeing as I actually kind of want that 99 stat aside from the fact that I hear it's useful. If I were to get 99 magic, I would obviously be passing 94 magic, which would enable me to use certain spells which I hear are incredible. Now I'm not an n00b, seeing as I've been playing for a few years. I have mainly stuck to range and melee, and completely isolated myself from the magic area seeing as I didn't like to spend money on runes.

 

 

 

Now from what I hear, magic "boxing" (94 + mages) who duel at the arena, make tons and tons of GP no matter what combat you are. So my question is, if I beat the appropriate quest for the barrage spells, and eventually finish alching up to 99 magic, will it be worth it at the dueling arena? Can someone give me a very detailed explanation on maging at the dueling arena, and if the magic at 94 + is actually worth it?

PS - I really want to get 99 magic in the first place, so I don't consider it a waste. But if I blow all my money, will I make it back eventually at the dueling arena?

i STRONGLY recommend you to make a new pure and train non-combat spells, you can reach level 50-55 with 99 mage and 10hp!!! then train HP to a nice number and train attack to 60 and str to 70+ at the same time and WHOOOOSH! you have a wonderfull pure!

I mean you're all telling me to get 99 magic, but that's not what I really need to know, but thanks for your opinions.

 

 

 

What I really need is someone who strongly knows about magic, and can tell me the actual benefits of 94 + magic. Is it worth it when dueling? Also someone who can tell me about the 94 + spells, and how much/what runes to buy/use, etc.

k lemme say a few words myself, even though i'm only 90 mage :)

 

well ice barrage and blood blitz is great, and 99 mage is an achievement, i guess since it takes long and all

 

 

 

well some spells help, only with lunar and ancient though, but most people go for ancient ice barrage, so get it really if you wanna do mage boxing cause magic level does affect chances of getting hit/damage dealt reduction, so if you want, you can it's fun to use ice barrage :twisted:

Well, I suggest checking out Tip.It's Magic Guide, and looking in the Ancient Magick section to learn more about these spells. Yes, you need to have completed the Desert Treasure quest to use this set of spells. To simplify it, these spells use mainly Chaos, Death, and Blood runes. Ice Barrage, which is the spell praised by many, uses Deaths, Bloods, and Water runes. It freezes the opponent for a period of time, and inflicts damage. If the opponent is wearing melee armour, you will hit nearly every time, and by simply moving a few spaces away you can kill your opponent without ever taking damage. These spells are both effective in the Duel arena, and Pking. If you can 'easily' afford 99 magic, I suggest by all means you get it. Be sure to read the magic guide, and farmilarize yourself with the 3 sets of spells. Good luck with your goal, and good luck dueling. :)

If you think you can easily afford it now, I can make it more affordable. Green and Blue dragonhide bodies sell for about 250 gp less than their alching price, meaning you only lose 50 gp per alch, as opposed to 100+

What i know of is with increasing magic lvl, your accuracy of magic spells increases as well as your ability to make magic spells splash on you. I also noticed the defensive feature of magic lvl seems to work better than high magic bonus contributed by armor. Of course, all these are my theory and may not be correct.

As a lot already have said, it's definitely worth getting it. But there are hardly good stakers on TIF, you won't find any detailed staking advice here.

Dude, just use the cb-calculator and fill in 99mage instead of whatever level you got now, if it doesn't affect your cb-level to hard, just go for it.

 

(and even if it does, go for it; ancients rocks, it rocks from 62on, and it rocks harder on later levels; I'm only 77mage atm, but would love to have 99)

92 Magic here :) . I've done some mage staking and this is what I can tell you:

 

 

 

- 99 magic is a great bonus. You only need 92 or 94 (depends if you stake obs on) but I splashed a lot more on opponents with 99. Especially with obstacles 99 is great, where getting the first barrage hit is very important.

 

- Defence doesn't matter much, but a high hitpoints level is recommended. Like with all other stakes of course.

 

- Learn the obstacle tricks! Most people will only do obs on.

 

 

 

Is mage staking profitable? It's all about luck of course, but the highest amounts are staked with this method.

i just got 94 mage a few weeks ago and i love it, i spent probly 5-6mil on it but it is definitly worth it to me, id say go for it

99 mage is great. i got 94 the other day from ice bursting and barraging with mage pots at pc and spend 7 mill, but it was worth it. you can make a lot of money back at the arena and pking.

Take it from me, ive potted up just to try some of the spells, and although they are costly.... I LOVE EM!!! You get ice barrage, and you also get the other really good spell, Vengeance. Another thing is that 99 magic is one of the niceset skills to have, just to show off that you can basically own anyone your combat that doesn't have high magic.
