The Observer
I have thought of this idea and thought it through. Maybe, JAGeX should set up a Gold Selling Site. This site will NOT sell real RuneScape Gold. They could just ask for their RuneScape username before you "pay" for the gold. Then, after they type in their RuneScape username, their account will get banned. It won't say that on the Website though, it will just say that they will get the coins in a certain amount of time. They would "pay" for the gold with real life money, but the money won't actually be used. In other words, the website will say that the money was processed then, they will log in to find themselves banned. This isn't a complete solution however. EDIT: Okay, how about the person actually gets the gold. Then, the person will get banned. Plus, it would go by people's base IP address.
dberg20
I'm pretty sure that this already is taking place, JaGeX has thought of this, and they (or so I've heard) send undercover staff pretending they are regular players to other forums, and they might have made on of their own. nomar04
What if they put in other peoples name, im sure Zezima would be quick to go when people find out that it bans people's names. This is a bad idea.
kelbri
Thought through, yes. Thought through well, NO. This is called entrapment and, although used by some law enforcment agencies, is illegal. Also known as baiting. They would be shut down, and multiple legal cases would be brought against them. And they would loose. Jagex isn't bulletproof you know. br34d
What if someone goes and puts YOUR name in? jagex would probably check to see if you play from the same IP address as the person who put your name into the website. a very good idea. if all the gold buyers gets banned than the number of macroers would slowly but surely decline untill most of them are gone. done with runescape

Elessar3019
I'm pretty sure they would need to get a special international license to do that, since if they didn't, it would be stealing. But here's a solution: actually sell the player the gold. So it's a legal transaction according to RL laws. Then ban the player for real life item trading, and don't tell them that they actually bought gold from an undercover Jagex operative. It's perfectly legal (at least by Amreican laws), and the gold farming/macroing problem eventually dissipates. perfect grammar is one thing, typing like a drugged monkey and enjoying it is anotherAMEN!
