50 Cent Sues for $1m

Rapper 50 Cent sued an Internet advertising company for $1 million Friday, claiming it illegally used his image in a game where the player pretends to shoot him.

I have seen this ad used by Jagex many times. By many times, I mean at least once a day. I think that Traffix Inc, the company providing the ad, should've been more sensitive. In case you didn't know, 50 Cent was shot 9 Times in 2000.

Post your thoughts on the ad and Jagex's advertisement screening in general.

ROFL....this rapper actually got pissed because someone used an internet ad? ROFL. :XD: The judge is just gonna laugh his freaking head off. I know I would. ::'

He probably deserved it though.

Can you tell me why he deserved to get shot 9 times? Seriously tell me, I don't know.

For being a talentless yet successful rapper? :-s

most rappers are that way, with the acception of those that play with live bands (snoop dogg, public enemy, etc)

Well, considering he was shot before his rapping career took off, and being shot is nothing to joke about, your smart remark fails.

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I-

I took the one less traveled by,

And that has made all the difference.

All I meant was that he must of done something to make him deserve those shots, note the [/sarcasm] tag in small text...

To make things clearer:

-I do not think gangstas shoot for no reasons. They have thier reasons.

-I think 50 Cent is a gangsta, not a gangster. Gangsters are the real ones. (and the ones from the 20s) Gangstas are the ones that look like them.

Uhm, aren't you the same one who said:

No, of course not! Gangstas don't randomly shoot people!!!11

[/sarcasm]

So, if that comment was sarcasm, I'm guessing you meant that "gangstas" DO shoot people for no apparent reason? You're getting confusing.

I see what's wrong now, my apologies. Just a simple-rush-hour typo. I meant to say that gangstas DO shoot randomly and the sarcasm makes it that they DON'T shoot randomly. I was trying to express that 50 Cent did something, stupid probably, to make him get shot.

So this was all a little typo that turned into a agrument. Sorry about that.

And your definition doesn't make sense, either. Gangsters in the '20s, wthat did they do? They sold illegal drugs, participated in human trafficking (prosistution being one form of that), and killed those who posed a threat to them.

80 years later, what do modern-day "gangstas" (not the majority of mainstream rappers or the guys who are MTV regulars, I mean the people who really live in poor, almost-lawless communities) do? The exact same stuff. Sure, they dress and act differently, but the things they do are virtually the same.

Gangsters from the 20s and gangsters from the 2000s do the same things, I agree. But they're still gangsters and gangstas are like the wanna-be ones. That's how I view it, until I see a dictonary edvidence that gangsta is a real word that means the same thing. (or is it?) :anxious:

Okay, sorry too, I got a bit touchy. :P

And I see where you're getting at with this more now too. You're defining gangster as one who is actually doing that sort of stuff, and "gangsta" as one who only talks about it (I had one of those "ahhh" moments :P ), and has never really done.

If that is the case, then I'd have to agree with you.

Oh yay, time to add another section 4-5 times bigger than the average house to his mansion. Seriously, how about giving to charity or something?

Honestly, I don't feel comfortable saying that somebody 'deserves' to be shot - That's fairly over the top and a tad inhumane.

Stapler accepted. Proceed.

He used to be a drug dealer, so maybe he got shot for giving someone fake drugs or something.

I just edited it to add that 50 Cent got shot 9 times in 2000.

Okay? Is that supposed to be relevant?

50 Cent, you make me laugh, you ridiculous man

You're damn right it's relevant. He was shot 9 times, almost died. In this advertisement, the object of the game is to shoot him. Seeing any correlation here?

"Gangstas" Do randomly shoot people for no reason, apart for "respect." Or something to do with a Hoe.

Sorry but that's just complete ignorance. I don't have much respect for 50 cent as far as his music goes but that doesn't mean to say that you can stereotype so much...

As for the lawsuit I think its fair enough if he wants to sue them, especially if it offended him.

Haha, did the little advertisment hurt his feelings? Yeah, real tough guy.

Woah woah woah, okay. No need to get so offensive. I don't really know why I thought that it was irrelevant, I guess I just thought the OP was trying to make the readers feel bad for him when he posted that rather than because of the game. It would still be messed up even if he hadn't gotten shot.

I can't help but agree with some of the people that kind of said he "deserved" it. I mean since he's supposedly so tough, he may have been involved in some questionable stuff. Honestly I'm tired of hearing about it too, I mean I've never heard it from the guy himself, but it just seems like it's just to get himself attention. He tries to convey a tough guy persona, and it seems like he's taking advantage of the fact that he got shot just to improve his image. I agree with Ragen, it's all for attention.

And the bible is the big book of lies, call me a racist if you must.

I'm not seeing how it improves his image, if anything it ruins his tough guy, gangsta persona. Being that he got his feelings hurt by an ad on the internet and all. As deserved as something may be, that doesn't justify its doing, either.

Its obviously a publicity stunt. He doesn't need another $1,000,000 and I'm sure that such a hard 'gangsta' wasn't emotionally upset over a game. He just wants some attention/ more record sales for any upcoming stuff hes going to release.

what a [bleep]sta...

*has no idea what he just said*

What ... the ... hell? Didn't he release a playstation game where the sole purpose was going 'round and shooting people?

And now hes boo-hooing like a baby with a temperature 'cause he was shown to be shot in some ad? Granted they used his image without his consent, and thats what he should be sueing over, not his hurt feelings.

I most definitely was not trying to influence the readers' opinions. Its very relevant because if the ad company chooses to exploit someones past experiences (e.g, getting shot at), and some of the viewers make the connection of him getting shot 9 times in 2000, then that could be hurtful to 50 Cent.

Note: I am not a fan of him, never listened to him.

Yea, I realize that now, I'm just saying that's what I initially thought.

What on earth? You mean to say, that an untalented celebrity would use the legal system to get publicity?

This is the most shocking news I've heard since someone told me the pope was a catholic.

No but seriously, 9 shots and they couldn't even hit him once in the head? They must have had some bad stuff off him earlier.

Yea i see the ad a lot too. In fact, now those same websites with the ads altered their ad to say "shoot" the rapper, and you have to get a picture of him instead of shooting him.

tip it would pay me $500.00 to keep my clothes ON :(
But then again, you fail to realize that 101% of the people in this universe hate you. Yes, humankind's hatred against you goes beyond mathematical possibilities.
That tears it. I'm starting an animal rebellion using my mind powers. Those PETA bastards will never see it coming until the porcupines are half way up their asses.
