July 23, 200718 yr I was curious about a most recent idea I came up with, as a slight improvement to random events that target macroers. Tell me what you think about it... As we all know, macroers are constantly killed by tree spirits when cutting wood. Sure, they die and drop some logs, but they just respawn and get right back to cutting. Why not make a time delay on when they can cut logs again, after death by an tree spirit? Now please, before you go all willy nilly about the idea, let me finish explaining... To lay it out simply, if a character is killed by an tree spirit, they get a message saying something like "A magical aura from the tree spirit surrounds your character, preventing you from cutting trees for the next ___ minutes." The time would start at maybe 45 minutes... Every time the character tries to cut a log, they get the same message but with the current time remaining. It's a simple enough idea, yet effective to some extent. It is certainly more effective than the current "Macroer dies, macroer respawns, macroer cuts again" situation. I'm sure that there are going to be a dozen people that storm in here saying "But 45 minutes is too long!11! What if we die?? That wuld get annoying!". Unless you are a macroer or AFK'er, you shouldn't be dieing because of a tree spirit. The moment you start being attacked, you should either A)fight back and kill the spirit, or B)run out of harms way, and return once it's safe. Only a macroer, which does not run away from random events, will be affected. Those 45 minutes of not being able to cut logs would cut down on the gain that that character makes for the user by quite a bit. Granted, it's not much compared to how much they get from the rest of the day of cutting, but it's a good start in the right direction of batttling macroers. Post your thoughts, but please, be reasonable with your arguments, and don't flame. July 23, 200718 yr I think its a good idea, cuz that would realy set back a lot of macros, but i cinda think macros usualy run away from those things #-o
July 23, 200718 yr Author No, macroers don't run away from randoms. GP farmers do, on the other hand. That's probably what you're seeing if you see a low leveled account run away from a tree spirit. July 23, 200718 yr great idea!!! this could also be used for the sea troll random and the rock golem random. Barrow Drops: 1 Ahrim's Staff
July 23, 200718 yr Great idea. I hardly ever see anyone besides macros killed by these randoms, and if anyone complains about 45 minutes being a "long time" then just run from the randoms. I engineered this thread with precise variables that I know would cause lul-worthy flames.
July 23, 200718 yr Good idea! It'll slow down macroers and I can still just kill the tree spirit to prevent it from happening to me. :D
July 23, 200718 yr No, macroers don't run away from randoms. GP farmers do, on the other hand. That's probably what you're seeing if you see a low leveled account run away from a tree spirit. Even a simple colorclicker can be set up to run away from that random event and bots don't even accidentally stay there to fight it. The only ones who would suffer from that are the few ones with colorclickers+bad scripts or legit players. The true problem players (bots) won't suffer from that. I'd rather die for what I believe in than live for anything else.Name Removed by Administrator ~Turtlefemm
July 23, 200718 yr This is a good idea! Kill those macroers! But, they will just make new accounts and work on those...

July 23, 200718 yr Its a really good idea i think. The only time a player would die is if he tried to take it on with out 43 prayer (ive done it a few times and almost died) This would help the bot probelm big time -Support- [hide=Quotes]Albel/JustinAlbel doesn't say anything anymore, just comes in, leaves an arrow and vanishes into the night :(Probablypractising some euphoniumYou nearly had me fooled, you fooler youEuphonium/10.9/10. July 24, 200718 yr Maybe the time you cannot cut depends on your level? The higher your level, the least possible a bot you are. So the higher your level, the shorter the 'freeze' time.
July 24, 200718 yr I don't support. First: the better coded bots (aka bots you have to pay for) DO run away from tree spirits. I know, I used to be part of the cheating community. If they still die they will just log out on that account and continue to macro on another account. Result? Only honest low lvl players and crappy bots will be affected by this. Maybe the time you cannot cut depends on your level? The higher your level, the least possible a bot you are. So the higher your level, the shorter the 'freeze' time. Most bots actually have higher woodcutting levels since they don't train any other skills. It's very common to see bots with 85+ wcing at f2p yews. July 24, 200718 yr Author :roll: For starters, this is in a suggestion forum, and this is a suggestion, so it's in the right place. And did I say that this would eliminate all bots? No... But it will help some, no matter how big or how small the amount. And if you were an honest player, that was paying attention to the screen rather than AFK'ing, you would NOT be affected by this. Would you honestly stick around to let your character die by a tree spirit? I somehow doubt it... So how exactly would this affect the real players out there? And I honestly have no clue what it is you were talking about in that second to last sentence of yours.. So you're saying there's a lot of level three bots with high wc'ing?... Yeah.. I think we know that. :| [bleep], my parrot has better grammar than you.{Author of Tip.It Times article}{Founder of the F2P Bankspace Campaign}{Interviewed for the Gielinor Tribune}{F2P Bankspace was ACHIEVED!}
July 24, 200718 yr Macroers run from events that attack them. I witnessed that. Sorry to blow your idea out of the water.
July 24, 200718 yr Author What you witnessed was probably a gp farmer... There's no way to tell a macroer or a gp farmer for sure. Gp farmers do run from random events. Some macro programs do run from random events, but not all. For some reason, people come in here thinking that I'm trying to say this idea would solve the entire macroing problem... I'm not. -_- This is just one of those little steps that help with the problem that little bit more. Is it foolproof? No. Would it help to set back some macroers? Yes. 'Nough said. July 24, 200718 yr Author Err, ookaay... There's no reason for it to get annoying.. The randoms would be just as random. July 25, 200718 yr Perhaps instead of of a timer your wc lvl is reduced to 0 and gradually increases over 45 min.
