I put mine in my sig since my sig was kinda out of date. Just got palkia last night, so I'm gonna go after 1 of the three lake legendaries then go finish off the last gym leader.

As long as we're posting trainer cards, "when in Rome", right?

Used the 'cosplayer Octillery' avatar because I love my Octillery so much I can honestly see myself dressing like that one day. Flamethrower, Surf, Ice Beam, and Psychic on a water type? I'd whip out a costume for that son of a gun any day.

I was inspired by my brother's move to name his team after philosophers (somehow an Aggron named 'Rousseau' just fits - don't ask me why) that I went with an American Revolutionary motif for mine. Corny, granted, but James Madison as Heracross kicks so much [wagon].

I'm looking for all the swarm pokemon, and am working on getting all the pokeradar pokemon too.

I'm also trying to catch Cresselia.. Already used over 200 dusk balls trying to catch her. :? (And yes, I am using the dusk balls at night)

I'm also building my team, right now I'm working on Salamence.

This is all on Pokemon Pearl.

either get a trapinch with arena trap or a golbat with mean look. if you go with golbat equip it with mean look and proceed to throwing dusk balls

Golbat is risky because of its weakness to psychic. For all my catching needs I use a Smeargle with Spore, False Swipe, Mean Look and Baton Pass. Works perfectly on everything but ghosts, and in the case of ghosts you can just baton pass the trap onto something that can hurt it.

I don't have any of the other games so I can't use that feature.

I just use Wobbuffet, it has the ability shadow tag which prevents other Pokemon from switching, running away, etc.

oh that works too i guess those were just the first too that came to my mind cause i hated going through the desert cause of those freaking trapinchees (i can't believe i never bothered to cath one #-o ) and i used golbat to catch cresselia and mesprit

btw im working on a new team

dugtrio - earth quake, fissure, magnitude, and tri attack (20% chance of freezing, burning, or paralyzing)

wigglytuff - sing, mimic, roll out, and disable

froslass - crunch, blizzard, confuse ray,and destiny bond (good panic button against fire types)

vespiquen - defend order, attack order, heal order, and destiny bond

slaking - counter, flail, hammer arm, swagger

gengar - hypnosis, dream eater, nightmare, and destiny bond

tell me if you think my team could use improvement if you need me to tell you the abilities or whatever <3:

@Riku:

Vespiquen definitely needs toxic for that lineup. A Vespiquen without toxic is heresy! In fact, I'd go ahead and drop Destiny Bond for Toxic; I mean, Destiny Bond is a good last ditch move, but on Vespiquen Toxic is nice and evil. If I were to use Vespiquen, I'd end up doing Confuse Ray - Heal Order - Attack Order - Toxic, personally, and maybe Baton Pass some Amnesia, but if you really want Defend Order that'll do. I just love the incredible frustration that results from Confuse Ray, and thus have used it on the many Umbreons and Misdreveus' that I've used over the years to great success.

In terms of Slaking, that moveset just isn't putting up to his full potential. I'd go with Swagger - Slack Off - Hyper Beam - Earthquake; now there's a Slaking to beat. To start, Slack Off is just necessary. Being his signature move and healing half HP without having to fall asleep makes it an excellent move if something fights back while you're sweeping and you need a turn to stock up. Hyper beam on slacking is the complete WIN. 150 base power + STAB = 225 freakin' base power, and with a potential 419 attack stat... that'll blow many pokemon who aren't uprepared right out of the sky. Add on the fact that he skips a turn anyway and you have no excuse not to use it on him. Earthquake is just all around a fantastic physical move, with excellent base power and made even better by his monstrous attack stat. And you suggested swagger, but I agree, it's a great annoyance move and slaking can take whatever their boosted attack will dish out anyway.

Now, I've used a hell of a lot of Gengar in the past, but I've never really tried Destiny Bond or Nightmare. Go ahead with Destiny Bond, as the sources I consulted said it's a good choice on Gengar, but I'd drop Nightmare. It's a good move, but the only problem with it in that setup is that it means his entire moveset depends on the opponent being asleep. With 70 accuracy, you're probably going to look at around 3 turns per battle where your opponent isn't asleep. These turns have to be spent trying to get the opponent to fall asleep, and you may get sweeped in that time, so I usually go with Shadow Ball or Psychic in that place. Mind you that I've never had any experience with Nightmare, so I'm probably wrong, lol. Go ahead and try this setup, but if you don't like it, I'd drop Nightmare for something straightforward. Thunderbolt is also a possibility? I keep it on my Mismagius and it saves my butt against all sorts of Flying types which is useful since I don't have the Ice Beam TM yet and Octillery's Aurora Beam has an embarrassing 65 base power.

I don't know much about Froslass, but your setup looks good. Personally, since I'm an Ice Beam addict, I'd use it over Blizzard or at least use a Hail - Blizzard combo to bring its accuracy up (and also raise Froslass' evasion through its ability), but if you're fine with the gamble then go ahead.

Dugtrio annoys me to no extent because he only learns ground/normal moves naturally (and the TMs he can learn aren't exactly varied either), so to get just a sliver of variety I would swap out either Magnitude or Fissure for Sludge Bomb/Aerial Ace/Shadow Claw. The problem with Fissure is that I'm not 100% sure that it's allowed in WiFi competitive play, so you'd be wasting a move if your plan was to bust into that.

Wigglytuff is one of my least favorite pokemon so I'll leave that moveset to you. :P

Aside from Slaking and Gengar (which are two of the most fantastic pokemon anyway so you have an excuse), your team is very original, and I like that. My suggestions are only tips, so mix and match as you please. Except Hyper Beam. A Slaking without Hyper Beam is no Slaking at all.

ok so final moveset

slaking - hyper beam, hammer arm, slack off, and counter. sice slaking is the closest thing i have for a fighting type is slaking i decided to go with hammer arm. that move can one hit a full hp blissey with a crit you know :XD:

gengar - hypnosis, nightmare, thunderbolt, dark pulse. i dropped dream eater and destiny bond to fall back on something if i cant put the opponent to sleep

froslass from what i can tell this has worked for me perfectly since my friends are extreme double battleists i hate double battling <.<

wigglytuff - same moves

vespiquen - confuse ray. heal order, attack order, toxic

dugtrio - fissure, earth or magnitude (cant decide), tri attack and shadow claw

now for natures now lets see

slakings main stats are hp and attack his worst is sp defense i was thinking of giving it a calm nature to raise sp defense and decrease attack

ok now lets look at dugtrio extremely fast ground type pokemon but low defense and sp. defense his weaknesses are water grass and ice which are mainly sp. attack rather than physical so i'd like to go with sassy - speed + sp defense

for wigglytuff lax +defense - sp defense since most fighting type moves are physical

vespiquen - vespiquen is pretty even... except its speeed so im going with hasty + speed - defense

gengar- he has one of the best sp attack in the game so im going with lax +sp defense - sp attack

froslass - pretty fast for an ice type and in my experience fire types arent very fast so sassy - speed + sp defence

slaking may benefit more from a move such as giga-impact instead of hyper beam. you're going to want it with moves that would compliment the huge physical power of it, i'd think.

anyone care to give feedback on this?

venomoth with- double-team, roost, psychic, and toxic, plus the shield dust ability

just one-

i'd say replace double team if your going to have roost (what the point of raiseing evasivness if you going to heal) replace it with bug buzz or psychic they both do the exact same thing but different types also try to find one with the item shed shell its a 5% chance but it allows you to swith it out even though you not upposed to ie you can get out of fire spin

and yeah i guess ill use giga impact

For Slaking, you'd want return, earthquake, shadow claw or pursuit, and focus punch or fire punch. A general rule for pokemon is to not have a bunch of same type moves. Slaking is all about hitting hard whenever it can, so you can boost that power with a choice band or if you want speed, use a choice scarf.

focus punch is useless because slaking WILL get hit my friends know what my slaking can do (1 hit a full health blissey), fire punch is weak, hyper beam is a better normal attack for slaking return only does 102 at max friendliness, shadow claw and pursuit are weak. and for items im using the quick claw

Oof, my mistake with Hyper Beam. In RuSa, Hyper Beam is a physical move, so Slaking dominated with it, but I guess in the DP physical/special overhaul they changed it to special. Bleh. The appeal of Hyper Beam was that it was physical... :s

At least it means Porygon and his evolutions are no longer stuck with Hyper Beam paired with their awkwardly low attack stat.

But yeah, I'd go with Giga Impact. I've never been lucky enough to use Counter effectively (my stint with Wobbuffet was a huge failure), but if you can pull it off Slaking is a great place to put it.

Ok, I'm having a problem catching spiritbomb. Now, I know I have to get the keystone and put it in the tower (which I have done) and I have to talk to 32 people underground (I have talked to one person 32 times by going to talk to them then going into my base and switching all the time).

I wonder if the way I did the talk to 31 people part is correct, and where exactly I must go to catch/see this pokemon (Do i just examine the hollow tower?)

Edit: nevermind. I read an article, and found out i did it all wrong. Is there a trainer that has it somewhere? I really would like to complet my pokedex.

Cynthia has it when you fight her at the end of the Elite 4. I think she leads with it. The game is designed in such a way that if you've fought all the trainers you'll have seen all you need to get the national dex.

Slaking can have a max attack of 460, gets a STAB with return, and the 1.5 damage multiplier from choice band. Fire punch and shadow claw give you more type coverage. I forgot about that little bit about focus punch, so you can switch that to giga impact, hyper beam is a special move. Pursuit is there to attack switching pokemon.

You shoudl've done it right.... :-s

Go to the underground and check your stats. It should say how many people you have talked to. After that...you just run around the tower thing(Where you put the keystone) he should appear.
