Kill_Thomas9
[hide=geoffreaks post]Awhile back, I tried out some DHTML collapsible menus but found that collapsible menus are worth it only when a side frame is used. I highly discourage any useage of collapsible frames. Unless of course tipit gets a slight javascript/css makeover. [Advanced Tech Jargon] I would recommend that the top tipit logo is used in an absolute css element which would float at the top of the browser window. The menus would float too but when a category is hovered over, its menu elements would be shown and others would be hidden. [/Advanced Tech Jargon] For those less tech savy, I am suggesting that the framework on the left and top of the page not move when you scroll up and down. This would better allow for collapsible menus. Instead of this: DATABASES * Bestiary * Items * Quests * GUIDES * Skill Guides * General Guides * Mini Games * Guild Guides * Monster Hunting * Treasure Trails TOOLS * XP Table * Skill Calculators * Skill Planners * Special Calcs ATLAS * World & Wild * Dungeon Maps * Special Maps * Mining Sites * Hunting Locations * Fairy Ring Map INFO * Beginner's Guide * Security Centre * Smithing Tables * New P2P Members You get this: DATABASES TOOLS ATLAS INFO And as you hover over one of the categories, its elements would pop out like this (Tools used as hover element) DATABASES TOOLS * XP Table * Skill Calculators * Skill Planners * Special Calcs ATLAS INFO [/hide] I have to point out that would actually look like this: [hide=corrected menu]DATABASES * Bestiary * Items * Quests GUIDES * Skill Guides * General Guides * Mini Games * Guild Guides * Monster Hunting * Treasure Trails TOOLS * XP Table * Skill Calculators * Skill Planners * Special Calcs ATLAS * World & Wild * Dungeon Maps * Special Maps * Mining Sites * Hunting Locations * Fairy Ring Map INFO * Beginner's Guide * Security Centre * Smithing Tables * New P2P Members You get this: DATABASES GUIDES TOOLS ATLAS INFO And as you hover over one of the categories, its elements would pop out like this (Tools used as hover element) DATABASES GUIDES TOOLS * XP Table * Skill Calculators * Skill Planners * Special Calcs ATLAS INFO [/hide] However, I do agree with everything else you said. malo2
it looks nice and everything, but it would make navigation very annoying. Guys, You're all like "oh no, another click will waste time" the current method takes longer as a whole new page has to load, the page to select the skill of the guide you want. with collapseable menus, the menu is there, it's just hidden. then you just click the name of the skill. this turns two page loads into one.I hope you realize that making the menus collapsible does not mean there's less to load, because it's not like the rest will come out of thin air. As long as the amount of links does not change, the loading is the same. In fact, the loading should take longer because the collapse function takes time to load as well. I really dont see how 1 second will make a difference.
CRansom12
This strikes me as a really good idea. My computer is so.... slow... that.... it takes me forever to even scroll down the page. I'm not sure how it would cope with collapseable menus, but it's worth a shot, right? It definately couldn't get any slower!
1alebcay
I would like it if you added collapsible things to the sub menus that are already there. For instance have skill guides collapsible, to show all the guides, that is what I would like. (also have it link to the current page, and have the + sign expand it) By the way, collapsible menues would be more to load, not less, because there would be more code. What has become of the runescape community???? :wall:There is a community?
Champion0113
It would look more cleaner but it would take longer to navigate through it. It might be confusing to new visiters as well.
The Real ET
No, I don't like it. Collapsable ones take more clicking and searching if you don't know where the thing you're looking for is. Cowards can't block Warriors.
