Sy_Accursed
I've noticed a trend lately of any small things that creeps up thats "abnormal" or "typoed" on the Rs site as well as very simple un-cryptic comments in BTS are taken by players and turned in these huge threads specualting about how these things are solid proof of a new skill or d item or huge update. I mean SURE the barbarian training pics are in a folder on rs site called "brutal" but how does this hint at a skill? For 1 brutal is an adjective, all skills to date are not adjectives and can be changed to ing and er forms (eg rcing rcer) PLUS if anyone used the power of reading the barbarian skills are a "brutal" way to train. After this info anyone really need any more reason for the diretory for the pictures to be brutal? So what I was wonder if when did it become the "cool" thing to do to find hint hints to new updates and speculate about things we have zero ideas about? Is it only me who would rather save my brain pwoer for cold hard fact of things in the game or speculation over an update based purely on what we have been told in BTS? I mean how on earth anyone linked bird eggs to GWD just becuase they both feature bird creatures I'll never know. Umega
Yep, I agree with you there. Almost all of these speculations never come true. No longer playing Runescape, I caught the WoW bug.
wurmskin
People are curios creatures, and I wouldn't have it any other way. In my opinion, I'd rather have at least some of these topics once in a while than none at all. Because though it may be uncommon, some of these "links" may actually be a breakthrough to something new. And people new after all :) . ^ Refresh for a new signature ^
CharlieBrown
Amen. Very well written and I for one, am sick of the topics about the BTS. Get over it guys, play the game. Sy_Accursed
I know speculation is in human nature, but what I want see is well founded speculation. Speculation about GWDs based one the advert and what bts actually told us was good and healthy. Speculation about "chairs you can sit on"when we got construction was good and healthy. Finding a random way to link EVERYTHING to bird eggs, blood rcing or summoning when theres not a scrap of logical evidence is plain annoying. Also as with the "brutal skill" example in order to speculate such things they ignore the blindingly obvious explaination of it. I think the only un-announced thing that can be speculated over is summoning, after all there are many characters and quests that seem to invovle assorted necromancy and summoning that could easily be building to a quest that opens up a summoning feature. phata_elise
Many like to try and predict the future. Sometimes the prediction is quite accurate and other times it is way off. I enjoy discussing those kind of threads, if the author provides some interesting evidence. This evidence should have some kind of background relating your prediction to a future update. It should not be just a very creative imagination someone has. Some examples: Players accurately predicted the location of the god wars dungeon. Was or wasn't the god wars dungeon going to be in wildy was another discussion. These predictions gave some good discussions since Jagex released a book about it ingame some weeks before its release. So, there was some good evidence and there were some good threads about it here on Tip.it. The evidence for the brutal skill is much less solid. It's about how the knowledge base organizes its information. Nobody claimed it as full proof evidence, just an abnormality in the KB which could implicated something more. Jimmyh7
Sure, they're almost never right, but it's good fun to wonder aloud. You can see if others agree or think you're a nutter. Bird eggs didn't have a use, this could've been it. It just wasn't.

krisc6
i am one of those guys who read between the lines when looking for a bag of flour  in fact i find it more fun speculating what the hell jagex mean by,"where adding a new quest".oh no it isnt a quest its a bluff theyre adding the new skill mourners :P my parents always shout get up out of bed you sleuth, well it sounds like sleuth :-w
DarkDude
What about things like in the latest postbag. In the desert the scarab waits. meb
Yea people trying to find clues that aren't there at all, it's just ridiculous. Retired 2146 overall - 136 combat - 6 skillcapes Plus I think the whole teenage girl thing will end soon (hopefully), because my girlfriend is absolutely in love with him(she is 18), and im beginning to feel threatened by his [Justin Bieber] dashing looks. Italian5kamikaze
Well its something to discuss and its not bad until you see like five topics on one subject like the GWD a week or two before it came out, and imo its better than seeing threads like "what is up with fishing??" or "The rs symbol looks like the godsword!" Quit. PM me if you play The Conduit to exchange friend codes.
mcneilp
I got to agree with you there...sometimes the speculation does get over the top but other times, take the god wars dungeon location for example, some speculation does turn out to be true (even thought there was a large black square hiding part of the game map :-k ) but speculation on subjects such as summoning and blood/soul rune crafting are usually taken too far. I think if jagex wanted to give us a subtle hint towards these things then they would release the same kind of book type idea they done for god wars. It isn't in the castle, It isn't in the mist, It's a calling of the waters, As they break to show, The new Black Death, With reactors aglow, Do you think your security, Can keep you in purity, You will not shake us off above or belowScottish frictionScottish fiction
SwreeTak
I agree. How could some people spend so much time on finding hints about new things in RS? I think that it would be smarter to just play the game :) Add me if you so wish: SwreeTak

Tbfgraphx14
Well I'm saying a new prayer is comming out soon right now because if you look in the KB there is a asterik that says "Hold time is not reduced agaisnt ancient magics" Is that relevant to any of the existing prayers? lol :P Jagex is messing with us. Sy_Accursed
The two posters above me (ignoring darkdude) are prime examples of what not reading leads to. Firstly the WoM investigations are OBVIOUSLY god specualtion as there is evidence there and I clearly said I had no problem with such The second is the seein a stare and reading about hold and OMG IT MUST BE A NEW PRAYER despite the fact if u read the table the mark is next to protect frommaigc. See bold above ... this must mean that 3h swords will be coming out, but that they won't be quite as powerful as the 2h ... it's so obvious! \ Idiocracy aside, I have no doubt that some things in the Postbag are hints at updates, which others are intended to make people wonder, and most other bits in there are purely for fun (or maybe a history lesson).
