***~Weapon Animations~***

Featured Replies

So i got this idea and i think people will like it!!

The idea is this: 2 Stances; Active and Inactive

When i came to varrock I always noticed like some sort of chaos.

Everyone runs with weapons up and in real life i would be quite shocked seeing everyone running with weapons ready to kill someone.

So how about this:

Active Combat stance only allowed outside the cities (this still means that if u attack an guard you will just engage combat and after combat you put ur weapon automatically in it's scabberd;

Inactive Combat Stance: allowed everywhere (except dungeons?). Your weapon will be in ur scabberd on ur belt and shields on ur back.

When you enter a city your sword will be put in ur scabberd automatically,

So what do You Guys think of this idea?

To me it seems more reallistic and cooler walkin around with weapons on ur belt and make an animation when u draw your sword; Sorta like in duels. I think this will add to the reality and u see which players are just wandering around and which players are up to combat.

I mean how often do you see ppl walking with Guns (swords or axes) running through city's.

Thanks for the feedback I wil respond to some comments:

1. You can manually show your weapon but only when you stand still when you walk you will put it away.

2. if randoms appear: the fight wil wait (half a second or so) till your weapon is drawn

3. Bow can just be on your back or something. Just be creative and take inspiration from medieval times)

4. Zelda is a real cool game

5. Why couldn't they just split the animation for waving capes and 2hander? You inspired me to another idea. Implying wind.

6. Manual option pulling out weapon in cities could be a variaton, I thought about this, but don't know if this is a really big issue. Like it nonetheless

Think this is a suggestion, so it shoiuld be in bugs and suggestions, but still it'd be pretty pointless.

Unique though.

Yeah i know it's pointless but i got the idea since they made the new stance for the R2h. So I though if jagex is already busy with "pointless things" then do it all good cause everyone complains about when the other weapons gain animation. I also think it will give a more un-chaotic feel and i think cities will feel more like cities and less like combat places with houses around.

okay yeah i'm new to the forums and just wanted to get my idea out. I know my fault should have looked better, but i saw 2h animation on this page and I blindly posted it here.

Anyways Mods have the power to move it or not, or do I need to do it myself?

That sounds really cool. i can imagine having a 2h sword strapped to my back, or pulling a dagger from a hidden scabbard on my leg lol.

I'm not sure how it'd work in places like fally or ardy squares where there are guards to fight. maybe as you enter a town you automatically put the weapon away but you're still able to withdraw it manually inside the town.

i like that idea even though it would probably get annoying after a while

I like it.

I think this would be kind of cool, and would add quite a bit of realism. Although I do have a question. Lots of people like to show of their weapons, so would there be a way to say tell the difference between a dragon scimmi and a bronze scimmi when its sheathed?

utterly pointless, but i'll give you pointsfor originality...heck, this might even happen if some dumb[cabbage] pleads that he went to town with a sword out because he "does it all the time in runescape"

so this could happen, and it would add a sense of realism...but lets face it, runescape is horribly unrealistic (for the greater good of course)

i support anyway

I like the suggestion. The new 2h stance is going to be the first in a line of "Fighter stances" that will be on for all people at all time. So it is a real possibility that this could be what Jagex had in mind.

I, too, like this idea and hope for it's eventual implementation.

While it wouldn't really impact core gameplay (hopefully), it would add a bit of "flavor" to the world in the same way the recent graphics updates have. Jagex would just have to be careful to make the animations fast enough so that they don't slow down response times to aggressive enemies, randoms in particular.

A possible addition fo this idea could be brief animations showing your character donning and removing armor/costumes. Let's face it, it's a little disconcerting to see bits of armor just appear over your clothes.

Being able to 'hide' your weapon would be a nice option, but i don't think that you SHOULD hide it when you're in cities.

For example:

- flowers can be wielded as a weapon, but do they look aggressive?

- the new 2hander emotion makes your cape look very cool, this would disappear with your weapon hidden

I have always thought that this would be a cool idea, but there is one problem. Where do you put big weapons (Hallys, 2hs, ect)

I engineered this thread with precise variables that I know would cause lul-worthy flames.

it's not about where to put it, but about the stance.

I;ve never seen an halberd because i thought they were p2p but 2 handed swords can be just like the old (sort of) animation. Resting on your shoulder.

I just laid the foundation and it's up to you guys to be creative. Just fetch a weapon which has no idea to it yet, and think of a way how ppl (in medieval times) would carry it.

Problem are there to solve, and the fun comes in how to solve it.

Like so many have said, it's completely unnessescary (spelling?), but it will add a bit of flavor, like hot sauce! *Kisses fingers like one of those fancy chefs*

And besides, it's better than a lot of updates Jagex has made in the past. :XD:

Also, I dont know if you have played World of Warcraft before, but this is almost exactly what happens in the game. Just wondering.

One of the more creative suggestions I've seen lately though, so good job on that.

this is the most useless idea, but also probably the most awesome thing ever. i would love if this was put into play. lol its just like zelda!

utterly pointless

Did you forgot that playing Rs altogether is "utterly pointless"? Oops?

I like this. It would definitely add a hint of realism into the game. I support.

bumpin it up want more feedback!!

Hello,

I very agree about this idea, i think is nice idea and I just can add something from me too.

All knows runescape combat movements, i talk about that then when you use some weapon you all the time do same movement attacking somebody, that make RS a bit borring, look to other almost combat based games (example. Silkroad - you use same skill attacking somebody but your character do diferent attack movements and that makes then is much more interesting to observate fight) i think more then 1 movement for some weapon can be great update too.

Suggestion: You can use Anchor on Waterfiends - is cheap if to compare to GS & effective with crush attack & it hit like Whip.
