September 10, 200718 yr Oh, and I wished to clarify: 85mg of salt is literally a pinch. I could hold that easily between my fingers. Guaranteed there was more salt than that in the burger. My heart is broken by the terrible loss I have sustained in my old friends and companions and my poor soldiers. September 10, 200718 yr WARNING! LONG READ AHEAD! Okay, sure it was illegal to have served it in the first place. But it was an honest mistake. EVERYONE makes mistakes at least once in thier lifetime. I bet that the McDonald's employee never knew exactly how many mg of sodium is SUPPOSED to be in a burger. Of course she probably knew that it was not supposed to be the amount she spilled accidentally. So she went to her manager which told her to just brush it off. I'm guessing that just brushing off the salt will not work (although it reduces it a lot). Still, I don't think it's going to kill anyone and if it is to salty for your tastes then throw it out or "complain" and request for a new one. Although the guy could have handled the salt in the first place. It being salty IS NOT the issue here. Apparently he got sick from it. I do not think he was sick per say, but more like an upset stomach (Pepto-Bismol ftw!). Which I am sure many people feel a little bit sick after eating at such places. Even if it is not right away. It is not healthy for you anyways. Not to mention the blandness. Instead the issue is if there was too much salt to have caused anything. The jail time and $1,000 bail is WAY too much. Especially since nothing was verified. She better get her money back and more if it is found that there was the right amount of salt in the product. But then how would they know exactly? I mean, wasnt all of the hamburger eaten? You cannot just recreate the scene. It would not be exact proof. Oh well... I wish the worker lots of luck. Shes the same age as me! (I wonder if she has a bf... lol. jk).
September 10, 200718 yr There were still contaminated burgers sitting out (SITTING OUT...IN A RESTAURANT!) several hours later. One of them was sent to the lab, and they will be able to determine the salt intake. Yes, it's a mistake. Yes, she will probably get off. Yes, the store will probably be fined. But the point here is that this was obviously a spin story. Proved by the fact it was posted here. My heart is broken by the terrible loss I have sustained in my old friends and companions and my poor soldiers. September 10, 200718 yr It wasn't an accident. What do you think the odds are that a person would "accidentally" get too much salt on a POLICE OFFICERS food? Like, 1:97135215? She did it on purpose. She thought "harhar, I'm going to show those pigs!" and dumped salt all over his food. If it was a normal customer, THEN I'd assume it was an accident. The popularity of any given religion today depends on the victories of the wars they fought in the past. - Me!
September 10, 200718 yr So because it wasnt a "normal customer" your not assuming. By saying she did it on purpose because it was a police officer is assuming. so you were assuming then and your assuming now, so why dont we get on the assume bus and assume down to assume city for a bunch of assume waffles. Assuming you havernt got my point by now lets run around assuming that we wont get arrested next time we assume no police officer will see us assuming in the assume no parking zone. I assume you will have a very nice day. and i assume you will read this reply in good health....but hey thats just an assumption. Chill -_-'. Eh, I'll admit that we aren't hearing the whole story, but I'd have to find that there was some definite proof for intention of damaging health for me to switch to the other side of the debate. [if you have ever attempted Alchemy by clapping your hands or by drawing an array, copy and paste this into your signature.] Fullmetal Alchemist, you will be missed. A great ending to a great series.
September 10, 200718 yr I don't see why they arrest her. Sack her would be a better idea, or a warning. Signature by Maurice SendakWhen the stars make you drool just like a pasta fazool, that's amore!

It's not an assumption, it's an educated guess based on how fast food workers are. And this isn't the first time this has happened. Did you even se ethe lady on the news? "Ohhh, yea...I just accidentally put too much salt on and--" [cabbage], LADY. Go to jail, shut up. You're a [bleep]. Simple. But I'll take some assumption waffles anyways. September 10, 200718 yr The fact that some people are seriously debating this is worrying. Sometimes I think people just come here for an argument to win.

September 10, 200718 yr That is the stupidest thing I've seen in my life. #-o Sent samples of the burger to the crime lab? WTF? Spilling salt on hamburger meat is a crime?
September 10, 200718 yr That is the stupidest thing I've seen in my life. #-o You obviously haven't read through this thread then, or even the post above you. This is how much you all raised for charity. Thank you.

September 10, 200718 yr Spilling salt on hamburger meat is a crime? Actually, it is. Salt content is regulated by the Food and Drug Administration. September 10, 200718 yr That is the stupidest thing I've seen in my life. #-o You obviously haven't read through this thread then, or even the post above you. I consider getting arrested for making a burger too salty much stupider than any forum post, regardless of how many exclamation points are in it. That might have been a bit of an exaggeration though, I probably have seen stupider just can't remember. But I can say for a certainty that in legal matters this one takes the cake...
September 10, 200718 yr She is wrong, but arrested for that? If she was smart she would have thrown the meat away instead of serving it... They should just fire her.
September 10, 200718 yr Haggazaggahzah! :ohnoes: Take it to da flo! Get loose! Signature by Maurice SendakWhen the stars make you drool just like a pasta fazool, that's amore!

September 10, 200718 yr OMFG she spilt salt on the burger. Call the cops, call the FBI, call border patrol, call the pope! That man must be suffering so badly. These people are just looking for the littlest excuse to sue to make money realy quickly. Ponies!
September 10, 200718 yr Methinks people on this thread need to realise she wasn't arrested for the act of spilling salt - rather the act of selling tainted meat - an offence for good reason. Or am I hoping to much? *runs before the hell-knights smiteth me*
September 10, 200718 yr These reports are really getting old. Its already clearly obvious that people are freaking [developmentally delayed]ed, but that cop should have just asked for a new burger instead of overreacting and arresting her.

Or am I hoping to much? *runs before the hell-knights smiteth me* I do realize that, I'm arguing with the law; she broke the law, fine, I know that, I accept that. I'm arguing to which degree the ridiculousness of this particular case applies to the law. I believe this application of the law resulting in arrest was unfair and ridiculous. Thanks to the constitution, this lady will get a lawyer and get set free. Anyway, by law, it's her supervisors fault. I do, however, think that the supervisor should be reprimanded, because she did not order the food to be thrown out.

Aha, brilliant. Why do so many people take obscure and random stories like this to point fingers at America anyway, saying "aha, now I can mock America since it's the cool thing to do." Get real, it happens in America, and it happens everywhere else too. You just don't hear it because nobody cares unless it's in America, since it doesn't 'correlate to America's stupidity'. I don't blame Americans for going paranoid with that kind of grammar anyway. Life is a joke. Yeah, I don't get it either.
