September 16, 200718 yr Alright, everyone here always says blah all 12 year olds blah miniclip ruined this blahh the community sucks. But from what ive seen with the change of people on this and other forums, the game is changing a lot of people. Its not always the players coming into the game but the ones who have been in it for quite a while. More than half of this forum is filled with addicts who need to see this game isnt even worth it.(note that im not saying you should all quit) because yes this game was fun while it lasted for me but because i didnt play 5+ hours a day on a weekly basis and that was what made it fun, knowing it wasnt a commitment which a lot of people seem to think because theyve become obsesssed. So from what ive seen this game is changing people into incompetent morons instead of what other people think, which is the morons are the new people coming into this game. Just some things id like to put out before people start to flame. Im not saying quit this game. Im not saying all old players have changed. Yes, i know there are a lot of kids in this game. Also if you want to flame me directly for any reason, you can pm me thx. Flame Away. Quit. PM me if you play The Conduit to exchange friend codes.
September 16, 200718 yr I don't see the problem with having addicts in this game. Someone will always become addicted no matter what because of lack of self control on their part. As long as the addicts aren't [wagon] when they're playing, I don't really mind them. You can't deny that some of the people coming into the game are making the community worse though. Some new people make the community better with maturity and others drag it down.
September 16, 200718 yr Author Im confused, what's your point? That the people coming into the game arent always to blame because the communitys horrible. The game changes people who become addicted. September 16, 200718 yr Addicts arn't the main problem but addicts tend to be VERY rude at times. It's not the 12 year olds it's the immature people who have nothing to do but be idiots. September 16, 200718 yr It's kind of true that the game changes you, or at least your in-game behavior. Back when I first started I used to be much nicer to people. I gave them free stuff, helped them go to places, gave advice...hey I remember I even used to help them do entire quests. I was like their tutor. Nowadays I have gotten way too tired of noobs and nooby behavior. My patience just ran out so I simply ignore people a lot more than I used to. The Runescape Wilderness - Meili's Blog

I agree with this, I once saw an example about this concerning skill capes. Say one player see's a cape and ask's the guy in said cape to do the emote. Now, to the person asking this is one simple request which won't take more than 10 secs out the the cape guy's day. However, this could be the 10th person in the last hour to ask to see the emote and the cape guy would be getting annoyed and blank the other player. It's the same in any situation though, say someone keeps asking for a cup of sugar, at first you may be happy to oblige, but if they keep asking you're bound to start getting annoyed.
September 16, 200718 yr Considering RuneScape is an MMO. The community plays a huge part of the game. So yes in the case of Runescape. The people make the game. I am Teh_King[My dA][My Last.FM][My Twitter]
September 16, 200718 yr I like how blunt you are. Takes some guts to do that. But the core mechanic of your principle is that, as people play more, they become addicts and thus become rude and vulgar? I doubt anybody who is addicted becomes overly rude, at least I know I was still nice when I seriously played runescape. And even if they become less social in real life, does it mean they are vulgar in-game as well? Hm, it's a lot of assumptions. But yeah, that's a new thought isn't it? "Stop blaming the new kids", people need to learn it. It does get annoying how some self-righteous players blame runescapes problems on new players. That being said, fact is that most misdeeds (scams, hacks, whatnot) are done by lowish levels or inexperienced and immature players. Statistics are that higher levels (addicts and such) are usually not like that. So you can't blame the veterans, or newbies, or any group. Everybody takes responsibility for their actions in a real utopia, hopefully people will come to that conclusion eventually. But I get your point(s). Life is a joke. Yeah, I don't get it either.
September 16, 200718 yr I can see where you coming from, although it could have been worded better / made a little less confusing, but assuming Underu translated correctly for you then I slightly agree with you. However, As it is with the real world so is it with runescape. Its never one group of people that is the source of the problem. Never is it even a few groups, But a collective sum of them all, at least when doing an extensive study in which your able to view enough of the entire picture. And what I mean by this is, is that with broad statements like its the "noobs of Rs" or the 'addicts of Rs" that have turned the game downhill, niether is the case. Even though many people could argue that its one or the other, many more would go so far as to agree that both these groups together are the problem. Which althought they might account for almost all of the problem, they still arent the only problem. You have to factor in everyone even the scammers, the lurers, the merchants, all of them. Even the types of people that there seem to only be a few of, so few that you could count them on one hand. People that come and sign up on forums and spam them with how Runescape is a bad game, etc etc...oddly enough we have another thread like that on these forums right now... Anyways, to keep a long story short, (which i failed miserably at) maybe the "addicts of Rs" are to blame as well. Most people dont seem to see it this way however as they appear to think that they are the chosen ones or the ones still faithful to jagex or whatever yada yada nonsence. Since, many less people see it the way that you do and that its possibly the addicts that contribute to it as well as the noobs, I find it only fair to finish off your list and throw the rest of the other contributing factors in there. September 16, 200718 yr I agree, all people want to do is find flaws and are obsessed they must be right bladdy blah, the older players seems to be the ones I hate more than the newer ones. I AM SURELY GOING TO WIN THE AWARD OF THE MOST LOVED TIP.IT'ER EVER, SURELY?
September 16, 200718 yr I can't disagree with you there ewan, I can't say that older players always participate in making the community a good one. I have been playing for nearly 3 years now and I don't flame anyone. Though I will get heated if someone is annoying me, the older players grew up in runescape in a nicer community. September 16, 200718 yr People need to chill out big time. These days the rs community seems toconsist of 4 elements The retired = think all the high lvls are addicted and need to chill The High Levels = Blame the low lvls for poor community and whine that low level updates are 2 easy The Low Levels = Say all the high levels are stuck up idiots and whine stuff is 2 high level for them The Whiners = whine about everything and anyone being wrong and they should be allowed to do everything Solution everyone needs to chilland stop trying to source the problems of the rs community and leave us all alone to get on with it Operation Gold Sparkles :: Chompy Kills :: Full Profound :: Champions :: Barbarian Notes :: Champions Tackle Box :: MA RewardsDragonkin Journals :: Ports Stories :: Elder Chronicles :: Boss Slayer :: Penance King :: Kal'gerion Titles :: Gold Statue
September 16, 200718 yr I've very rarely met rude people in this game and as far as I can see, the most "addicted" people (it's hard to judge if you only speak to them once) are actually very nice. As long as you treat them with respect and like normal persons, not like half gods. When everything's been said and done, more has been said than done. All skills 80+
