PastyGangsta
Google ranks the page depending on how many pages have a link to your page. So basically, if you have 5 sites linking to you and someone else 3, you'll be above him. That however is way too simplistic, it's actually a bit more complicated. If you have a high "page rank" (a number determining how high your ranking is based on the linking principal) the pages you're linking to automatically gives them a higher page rank then if a page with a low page rank links to that page. After all, a link from the IBM homepage has much more value then a link from your blog. Also, the less links you have, the page rank the linked to sites gain, you automatically spread your page rank evenly amongst the site you link to. This however creates a mathematical problem, because to know the page rank of a certain page, you need to know the page rank of the pages linking to it, but to know that, you need to know the page rank of those pages, etc. (I don't know how this is solved yet, I know it has something to do with matrixes, but that's where I am now with learning about page rank ). So the conclusion probably is, Zybez has more pages linking to them and/or the pages linking to Zybez have a higher page rank themselves. The googlebot (its actually known as that) literally crawls through the web. And so the more pages you have linked to the website through a particular search the higher your rating on google. Some sites are blacklisted by google, BMW are one of them because they created a separate page with thousands of links to their site just to get high google rankings. I believe this is the answer you're looking for. That system of ranking only comes into play AFTER the websights have paid to be at the top of Google's list. Sure, getting your website on Google is free, but getting in the top 5 pages of results isn't. The world (and digital world) revolve around money, get used to it. The only way to boost Tip.it's rank on Google is to: 1. Pay Google lots of money 2. Kill all bot programs known to man, and some that are only known to Dolphins. lordkafei
If you look at the source code of each page, you will notice that Zybez managed to crowbar the word "Runescape" into the description 6 times. Then go look at tip.it's source code - only once. Google ranking is a bit of a black art. If you search Yahoo!, you see tip.it is #3 (behind Jagex and the Wikipedia entry for Runescape). Look at the Zybez code again and search for "mmoads." :shame: But they don't support gold farming or real-world trading, oh no how dare anyone suggest that. They just take ad money from those sites and publicize them. But that's not the same as supporting them, oh no don't even dare suggest that. GMAFB. mchainmail
Also, google has "smart searching" Based upon what you have searched for before (and therefore clicked on) that would change your results. So if you search for runescape a lot but just click on tip.it, tip.it would be at the top.
PFJ
I dunno. I like Zybez for a lot of things they have on there. *GASP!* They have nice quest guides(not a fan of tip.it's >.<) and I love the price guide. OH EM GEE. i must be some sort of evil, evil man from there. That vile website with it's errr...bad stuff. Davydudeman
Because 90% of clans use their forums to post run ins and advertise, but they have a rule where you have to put a link to zybez on your forum if you advertise their. But the fact is, it has the most immature community I've ever seen in my life, including the official forums. Don't believe me? Go look at their pking forums, and I have yet to see a pk run in topic without any flames.

Dragon_lord
Isn't that good? Now all the newbs who google search "runescape" will go to zybez and spam it up instead of coming here \ Good point. Who cares if we're not on the first page anymore? We're still the best! 8-) Pretty much what Dragon said.Thread terminated.I guess that means I'm the thread Terminator? No Tip.Iters were harmed in the making of this post. Sadly, Zybez forums are times more attractive, due to Zybez's fansite having great quality on guides, databases. Zybez forums seem to have a stronger clan forum, as well PK one. And everyone saying Zybez is promoting gold selling, then you have to be plain dumb. The adverts are there, just to pay for the bill they have to pay for servers and I'd rather see a gold selling advertise than get a pop-up everytime like I do in tip.it. Because 90% of clans use their forums to post run ins and advertise, but they have a rule where you have to put a link to zybez on your forum if you advertise their. The thing is, too many people make pointless topics, just act stupid and can't handle criticism, because they are used to their e-friends sucking up to them. thiesje
Another EDIT: I also found this article. The first thing has already been posted on this forum, but I was pretty surprised by the last paragraph. I was wondering what the username could be? (Note; it states a boy hanged himself after he thought he was hacked a few years back, his account was in the top 10.) According to someone who reacted it was Kale Stille. On-Topic, yes Tip.it is better, I don't care if they're on the second page, although Zybez has a very usefull price guide. Animum debes mutare, non caelum. Umega
but now it is on the second page, behind zybez and a bunch of gold buying sites. *Sighs* Trust those sites to come first... It wasn't like that a few years ago, it was all Fansites, now it's just those stupid gold selling sites. :| No longer playing Runescape, I caught the WoW bug. spooferfish
Those sites may have payed to be higher on the results. Tip.it is the first thing that come up when you search tip though. I thought google brought you results based on most clicks?it doesn't really matter.. The naughty double S might have something to do with it? I'm with mrmyk here, not important. happybappy
Google's pagerank depends on many things including: Quality and number of sites you link to and that link to you. Number of clicks on your site from google. How many times a keyword appears on your site. Whether the main theme of your content has changed recently. SwreeTak
Maybe it's just because the word "Runescape" is found more times on Zybez? Well, I don't got a clue actually :P And I don't really care about it either. Add me if you so wish: SwreeTak
calum12
I heard that google and other search engines work by looking for a combination of links to that page, views and the number of times that word appears in context. Hmmm.... I need a new siggy, get round to doing it later. Probably.
