September 20, 200718 yr It seems most people earn their living by working for some company, basically selling their time. Some like their jobs, some don't. However this thread isn't about people with regular jobs. It's about those that inspire you, because you think what they do is cool. Everybody has different standards. Just tell about those that come to your mind and that you find particular fascinating. For me that are always the people who happen to become rich. That doesn't necessarily mean yours have to. They just have to be able to easily live off what they do, without having to worry about money. Andrew Gower. I read a report saying that he and his brother Paul are worth a bit over 100 million pounds together. Sure he did go to college, but his success comes from toying around with JAVA in his free time. It seems that he put lots of work into his small project and made smart decisions all along, nevertheless he created a computer game. I imagine it to be far more rewarding to build a computer game then to actually play it. Again: He became rich creating and expanding a computer game in a fantasy world. Runescape. There are 1 millon subscribers. I think he is 28, so he's around my age o.0 Andrew may be rich, but Joanne K. Rowling is even richer. Unlike Andrew she didn't work hard at all. She doesn't have to care about a company, she doesn't have a customer support. All she does is writing books, wich she really seems to enjoy. Otherwise she probably wouldn't have start writing a new one. She imagined a cool fantasy world, with lovely characters and finally wrote a book about it. In the end she became filthy rich, wich wasn't exactly the purpose why she wrote at all. It was just what she wanted to do. Getting rich was merely a by product. (I guess that's the same with Andrew Gower. Another of my all time favourites is Hugh Hefner, the founder of Playboy magazine. What he did seems to be the following: He though: "Okay i envision my lifestyle to be like that. Why not make a magazine that displays my vision?" So he patched together his magazine and it was a tremendous success. A couple years later he was living in his playboy mansion, surrounded by beautiful and willing women, wich he still does today. Now, at the age of 81 he has three girlfriends, all in their twenties. Writing about these people i noticed a bit of envy in me, wich certainly isn't exactly a good thing and the thread isn't about that. It's about inspiration. There are ridiculously cool ways to earn a living. Post whatever you find cool.
September 20, 200718 yr Long story short, be first to do/invent something. Mercifull <3 Suzi "We don't want players to be able to buy their way to success in RuneScape. If we let players start doing this, it devalues RuneScape for others. We feel your status in real-life shouldn't affect your ability to be successful in RuneScape" Jagex 01/04/01 - 02/03/12
September 20, 200718 yr Author Long story short, be first to do/invent something. Yah.. okay.. but the thread is supposed to be about people you think do something awsome for a living.

September 20, 200718 yr Author . Now, at the age of 81 he has three girlfriends, all in their twenties.. What a Bloody player, thats how i want to die :) That is him with two of them.. He claimed to have slept with about 2000 different women during his life, wich is believable, judging from what is known about him. The guy is incredible...

September 20, 200718 yr Any NFL player. Any... o.O The Kicker. Come on, millions for kicking? I'm in. :) The guy who invented Facebook, too. I say 'invent', I mean over hear his mates talking about it and stealing the idea. Mind you, he's the only one who went ahead and took the risk by putting it into practice. The moral of the story to succeed? Here someone's great idea, then do it - better. This is how much you all raised for charity. Thank you.
September 20, 200718 yr I don't really like Microsoft (or Windows) much anymore...but I think that Bill Gates did it right. He does what he enjoys through programming and stuff, and about 20-30 years later, he is the richest man in the world and the head of one of the world's largest companies.
September 20, 200718 yr Don't worry good people, I will bring it to you within your lifetime. And get hella rich off it too. [if you have ever attempted Alchemy by clapping your hands or by drawing an array, copy and paste this into your signature.] Fullmetal Alchemist, you will be missed. A great ending to a great series.

September 21, 200718 yr @Reb: Sooner rather than later mate, get cracking :D Oh, of course, I'm trying to get into a good Nanotechnology/Engineering school right now, so with that education I should finally be able to complete it :-k . September 21, 200718 yr webcomic artists (who are able to make a living off it) are pretty cool :D Okay - like the guy who does Dinosaur Comics, or the one who does XKCD, or the one who does Questionable Content. They make money from selling merchandise. It's pretty stressful though, because fans rely on them to put up a new comic consistently on schedule! Still pretty cool though. Everybody hug and spread the love :D
September 21, 200718 yr webcomic artists (who are able to make a living off it) are pretty cool :D For the longest time I thought about making one of my own. But after seeing dozens of webcomic artists literally break down and drop like flies due to pressure... Well anyway... I find that job scary... :-X The Enrichment Center reminds you that the weighted companion cube will never threaten to stab you and, in fact, cannot speak. In the event that the weighted companion cube does speak, the Enrichment Center urges you to disregard its advice.
September 21, 200718 yr Author I really wish you'd give some examples of people, instead of just naming a profession. You don't even have to know their names. Just say: "This guy does this and that, since then, blah, blah..."
