So i went on the net, to find facts, so i didnt get aything wrong, when i came aross this artical: "Riding a blood-and-entrail-streaked reputation as the sickest of the sick on the crowded extreme death-metal trail, Florida's Cannibal Corpse... brings the horrific noise to [Toronto] tonight." (Quote from the Toronto Star, August 10, 2000) Memo to: Canadians From: The Free Radical Date: August 17, 2003 If you learn that the death-metal band, Cannibal Corpse, is coming to a neighbourhood near you, consider filing a complaint with your local police service. Some of this band's lyrics could contravene the Canadian Criminal Code obscenity law (section 163). You might also consider filing a complaint with the police against retailers selling "The Bleeding", one of the band's CDs. Criminal Code Section 163 (8) states: "For the purposes of this Act, any publication a dominant characteristic of which is the undue exploitation of sex, or of sex and any one or more of the following subjects, namely, crime, horror, cruelty and violence, shall be deemed to be obscene." Sex, crime, horror, cruelty and violence are staples in the band's lyrics, and they have reportedly run into problems with Canada Customs because of concerns about their material contravening our obscenity law. Sure, they are more violent and grusome than most bands, does not mean that you have the right to say these things. Just because You are not into the death metal music, does not mean you should say these things either. How is something like this even fair? Do you really think that the members of Cannibal Corpse really do these things? they just sing the stuff to keep up the rep of the music. When i clicked on the link to that web site, and started reading, i was mad, that someone could say something like that. Just because YOU are not about the brutal means of death metal, doesnt give you the right to sya things like that about such a great band. There are many people into this music, and love the brutal lyrics, me being one of them, and maybe they are brutal, but you could of stated the things you said alot differently. Now maybe you may think that people will get killed at their shows? or go kill someone because of their lyrics, or commit crimes, thats a load of bull. If you are going to blame things like that on music, maybe there is something wrong with you, because rarly would someone take their music that way. saything these things is "stereotyping" and thats wrong. This is also discrimination, to the band, and the fans. Even more funny is that George Fisher has a wife and kids, which makes any accusations to this group even more pathetic. At least they don't pull of the crap Gorogoth did in Poland. :shock: (Short story short they had 4 people pretending to be crucified on crosses on stage, with blood all over them and naked and bags over their head. There was a ton of goats blood over the stage and goat (I think) heads on pikes near the front. Also because you apparently want to wave the actual right we do have of freedom of speech to promote this apparent right of not being allowed to critisise metal. Then we get the fact you're "segregating" the forum for wanting only metal heads to post as being immoral With so many trees in the city you could see the spring coming each day until a night of warm wind would bring it suddenly in one morning. Sometimes the heavy cold rains would beat it back so that it would seem that it would never come and that you were losing a season out of your life. But you knew that there would always be the spring as you knew the river would flow again after it was frozen. When the cold rains kept on and killed the spring, it was as though a young person had died for no reason.
