Your information is correct, but your logic is not. Longsword special isn't as good as it is thought - it frequently hits zeros, and usually hits low. DD++ is a far better alternative - its easy to switch and spec without wasting any time. And, obviously, d scimmy delivers more damage and XP in every situation.

The dragon longsword is a perfectly find knockout weapon, packing a surprisingly hard punch.

I'm a scimmy gal all the way. I used to weild longswords but after changing to the scimitar I just found it to be better... it's not about stats or anything like that, it's personal opinion and experience with each of the swords. I just find the speed to be more useful in combat.

I don't know if you'd consider 133 combat a low level, but I find dd++ a very powerful knockout weapon, much more so then an abyssal whip or even AGS. Whip, obviously, is the weapon of choice for regular combat, but for that pull-out-and-combo power, dd++ has it (see avatar for details).

True to some extent, the zeros and slow hits just aren't good with a d long. A dds tends to hit rather low on high defence, though - but it will murder pures of any sort.

Well, what defence does is lower the chance of hits, not as much the amount hit.
