The law stated that if you blind someone else, you will be blinded- the harshness of the punishment equals the harshness of the crime (same goes for all crimes, not just the blinding example). It's rather barbaric and vengeful, and thus it has been abandoned as a part of law, but it's still a logical concept. The irony of the twist on that part of the Code is that it doesn't actually make the whole world blind; the punishing ends after the one being prosecuted recieves his or her punishment. Hm :-k .
