Meesy
I'm interested in what people here consider the best PC-games ever made are, please don't name games like "Need for Speed 2!!" or whatever games are totally hip today, I'm talking like older games, as in Mario, Zelda or Pok̮̩̉̉mon. Now the fun part is, you can't name those 3 or any other stereotyphical games. I'm looking for lesser known games that were in your eyes the best games ever made. :) In no particular order, my top 3. - Total Annihilition, a game you could compare with something like Westwood's Red Alert, but much more detailed, required more tactic and was way ahead of it's time. - Heroes IV, also a very stratical game. Could be compared with something like ehm... Lord and the Rigns combined with Pok̮̩̉̉mon... Yeah. In my eyes this is VERY good game and every should try playing it. - Battle Bugs, most likely the first game I played on the computer. It's basicly warfare with bugs (ants, grasshoppers etc.) required a lot of good thinking because you were always outnumbered. Now, it's your turn. :) Ps. I did search first, but the result didn't really satisfy me since the post I came up with was basicly all about ZELDA!!1 and MAARIUOAORIA!!!. Member of #darkwebz. Nadril
- Half life. Even though i also love the sequal for it, half life was great because it revolutionized the way people did fps's. and a great game. -Heroes III. Probaly one of my all time fav. turn based stratagy games. Realy... I could spend hours upon hours playing freinds. -Baulders Gate II: Shadows of Ahm. Ok, its a more recentish game (2000) but its my favorite Rpg none the less. Bioware did a great job on it, It literaly has 100+ Hours of gameplay, and thats not even if you do all the side quests! really.. i'd recomend it to any rpg fan. Well... theres my list. Somewhat more recent, but oh well. ps: Heroes III Kicks Heros IV wagon i think.
Meesy
ps: Heroes III Kicks Heros IV wagon i think. Nah, Heroes III had some good aspects I miss in part IV (upgrading armies for example) but part IV is way more detailed, there's way more to do, more armies, more monsters and it requires more tactical skills. :) Member of #darkwebz. Pyro
- Planescape: Torment. The same engine as the Baldurs Gate series, and twice the story quality. Easily the greatest game ever made. You wake up in a morgue and realize you can't die, basically. - Deus Ex. A mix between RPG and FPS, this game takes place a few years in the future where augment-technology has been developed and is being used to control the masses. Not as great as Planescape in terms of story, but there is no better FPS to date. The sequal should be avoided though. - Starcraft. I doubt there's anyone here who hasn't heard of it, but that doesn't change the fact that it's one of the best strategy games ever. A lot less bulky than Warcraft III, and without lame heroes. Those are my top 3. Oh, and I'll mention a fairly new game that should be played aswell. Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines. Another FPS/RPG game, this time you play as a vampire with various abilities such as supernatural speed, strenght, marksmanship and insanity. Very high system requirements to play smoothly (Possibly the highest system reqs of any game to date), but worth it. EDIT: For the record, Heroes IV is unbalanced beyond being playable online. It also suffers from many problems that the other Heroes games had, such as luck being a huge factor. In other words, a lousy game online, but a great game offline :)
booduz69
I don't play many pc games, mainly because my pc licks anal passage, but my favourite 3 are: Worms 2- This game rules all. :P When i was smaller, :P every time my mates came round we would have massive games on Worms. THATS entertainment. The Mystery Of The Druids- I'm willing to bet no-one will have heard of this game, but i love it. It's a detective game, and it got pretty bad ratings, but i love it. Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy: The multiplayer on this is pretty sweet, and i have a thing for lightsabers. ;)
Zonorhc
Planescape: Torment - Hands down the best CRPG game ever made, and I'm not just saying that because I love the Planescape campaign setting for D&D. Heroes 3 - Beats the snot out of Heroes 4. Not as graphically pretty, but much better gameplay in general. Civilization 3 - Hey, it's a computer strategy game that requires thinking and long-term planning! You sods can keep your stupid Warcraft 3 and your pathetic Dawn of War. Civ3 is THE strategy game. Pete_the_Viscous
Here follows a list of games that I deem to be baddazz... In no special order: Baldur's Gate 1, 2 Doom games Half-Life games Total Annihilation Kingdoms Final Fantasy 7 Heroes 4 (I actually think that this one is better both graphically and tactically) Tetris Warcrafts 1 and 2... maybe 3 Civilisation: Call to power (I've tried 3, and, no matter how much they claim to have made it more tactically advanced, it's not) Carmageddon 1 & 2 Command and Conquer: Tiberian Sun Thief 2: the metal age System Shock 2 Deus Ex 1 Majesty Starcraft Quest for Glory V Tribes 2 Zork: Grand Inquisitor Dungeon Keeper 1 and 2 Diablo 1 and 2 Soldier of Fortune 1 then 2 Unreal Unreal tournament UT 2003/4 The Elder Scrolls: Morrowind Hexen Heretic Requiem: Avenging Angel Fallout 2 Extatica 2 (I think it was called that; let me check... Oops: Ecstatica 2.) Grim Fandango Worms games, though not the 3D ones. Various old games that I forget the names of. I might add Planescape: torment to this list, but I've not played it in a while, and it didn't work all that well when I did play it... That's what comes of trying to buy it for about 7 years and then trying to use it on a far too fast machine. (I plan on getting an old pc to use old games on) All of the above are games that I would buy right now, did I not already own them. deviantart account
Eludia
Neverwinter nights - it takes a while to get into it, and the main campaigns are a bit boring. But the beauty of this game lies in the huge amount of downloadable content. On one website they have around 1500 different modules which you can just download and play. Not to mention the toolset which comes with it, if you really work on the scripting you can make some amazing modules using it. The online play is okay, often the servers rely on the more social side of things rather than the action...but if you find the right one with a good dm it can be quite fun. Predator
Half-Life, really awesome single player, not so good multiplayer but it had a lot of mods like Counter-Strike, and a REALLY awesome one called Brainbread (Seriously you guys should check Brainbread out, it's a MULTIPLAYER zombie game for HL, realy fun). A picture of Brainbread Starcraft - Me and my bro have played this for years, it's not as cartoony and crowded as WC3 and like someone else said it has better heroes. Sorry to say this, but Runescape, even though I don't play, it was free and I played for like 3 years. Which is a lot... Diablo/Diablo 2 and Expansion - REALLY great games, also spent years on them too. Gunstar Heroes! Awesome Genesis game, wicked fun.
DahVid
Half-Life: For almost 6 years I've been playing this game. The storyline is wonderful, one of the first FPS to have a storyline like so. You start out as a scientist at a regular day of work. The graphics were amazing, I mean, compare it to "Mystery of the Sith" 1997, alot better. It's mod community was to the extreme, and the fans were dedicated. There were, and ARE over 120 modifications for half-life. Although many of them are dead there all still some working on mods. Like Move In! hasn't even been released. Ghost Ops:The Avalon project has just came out. Even in 2003, and 2004, people still played half-life. Even though Half-Life 2 has come out people still come back to their roots. I have to say, after making my own modification, mapping, etc. This is my roots for my number one gender of gaming, FPS. Sure I played doom 1and2 before, I just didn't get into it much. Although, today, I should be getting some crap from newegg (1gig of dual channel, 6600GT) to upgrade my POS (111mb of usable RAM, 8/16/32 mb prosavageDDR) to play Half-Life 2, I'll always come back to my roots. e_add monster_gman:origin:%HERE%:displayname:Gman's got some crack:model:models/gman.mdl

Honorable Mention: Allegiance, it was awesome when Microsoft supported it (theres a FreeAllegiance thing out now, but its not the same)

Augsback
-Heroes III. Probaly one of my all time fav. turn based stratagy games. Realy... I could spend hours upon hours playing freinds. Yes, Heroes III is my favorite out of them all. When Heroes IV came out it was a totally different game play and never got to like it. The graphics where good and all but some for reason It just never clicked with me. Also the Final Fantasy series on the computer is really good. I've played a lot of them and including Final Fantasy XI right now which is a TON of fun. Cossacks Is also another game that has been around for a while. Having a LAN party and playing Cossacks all night is really worth it and much fun. There's also, Red Alert NeverWinter Nights Quake series Civilazation
misterxman
Age of Empires 2 - The best mutliplayer and single player strategy game I've played, very awsome online and offline, including campaigns. Very good custom map maker (made world maps to fight on). I'll still play from time to time at the Zone if anyone is interested. :) The Incredible Machine - Very unique and creative game. The missions were great to figure out, and it was awsome to think of various and devious ways to build something that can release a cat on a bunch of unfortunate little mice. Pixel sigs by me.Pixel Art
Zeldafreek
And why can't new games be any good? Why do they need to be lesser known? 1) Diablo 1&2 2) Half-Life 1&2 3) Unreal Tournament(s) Done and done. But if you must have lesser know games: 1) Seven Kingdoms 1&2 2) Planescape: Torment 3) Darkstone 4) Myth 1-3 5) Stars! Done and done and done.
