vmser
I can't stand heat, but I've told myself I have to try it atleast once.
NorthernHero
I think that the "jumping into icy water" aspect of it is just to make one feel like a badaxx; just like walking in the rain without an umbrella, or taking a baking tray out of the oven without oven gloves on. Perhaps it "closes" pores fast, thus locking out dirt... but if you don't get dirty, you're not going to get dirt in your pores anyway. Actually I've heard that jumping in icy water inmediatly can be pretty unhealthy, worst case can hearh stroke. If you let it cool down a little bit thought it's good for you thought. I've tried it in the winter to forzen lake, frehreshing experiense if you dare to go to in. :P In summer thought, in a cottage, I remember me and my brothers heated the sauna all the way max we could ans tryed to stick the as long as we could and then run to the lake. Normally the water would feel like it was little cold, but after that it feeled warm, very good feeling. Reality is hundreds of times more beautiful and more interesting than delusions. Bacon2003
I have one at home and there is one at my gym aswell, I tend to go in the sauna 2-3 times a week. It's great in the winter when you just get home from work to relax. :D --The Ultimate RuneScape Merchanting Website --
Uldric
All I can remember from my past experiences in a sauna is seeing some people whipping themselves with leaves or something. I don't know if it was a bondage sauna or just the 'thing' to do. :o

Guest
Well I'm from Finland too. Obviously we have a sauna in our house, and I use to go there about 3 times a week. It's just somehow relaxing :D
bs_johannes
Yeah, it was fun in there till someone poured beer in it. Didn't wanna stick around for that so we all jumped in the pool :D Beer and sauna is a good combination except for the fact that if your drinking beer from a metal can it gets so damn hot! Burn! Korskin
I also have a sauna at home, but I've only used it like 5 times in 8 years, and most of those times it was because we had our finish former neighbours over. Though every time I go to the local swimming bath, I tend to visit the sauna. It's refreshing afterwards when you have taken a shower, and you feel very clean, though being in a sauna usually makes me sleepy. Probably due to the heat. (Don't try pouring coke on the warm rocks, you will have a pretty bad smell for quite a while, though my friend claims it smells good if you pour some bear on the rocks. )
Lionheart_0
i never really was in a sauna... i sorta was at macmaster when we had a waterpolo tourny... i went in there for a few second.. too hot. I left as soon as i saw one of my team mates come in with a water bottle... lol Long story short, after i left, i went to the showers... later i was told that my teammates were getting headaches... lol. Yeah but don't get too drunk and fall asleep. I heard one story that somebody went to sauna drunk alone and fell asleep, the sauna was that kind that it didin't turn off by itself. Arthu
So judging from the posts in this topic a sauna is a...hot steamy room where you go into naked, that people pee in sometimes. Sounds just like a hot shower to me. Nobody in Finland pees in sauna... except 3 year old kids naturally  Yeah, I go in sauna usually like once a week. VOV
We have one in the locker room at the gym, I love the thing. Always go in for a steam after working out then have a tepid shower afterwards. I know the price. I pay it gladly.

Lynxi
Private saunas are way better than the public ones in the gyms or elsewhere. We have a own summer cottage next to a big lake. Firstly i stay at sauna for 20-40 minutes and then i ran to the lake and take a refreshing dive to the lake and swim couple minutes. It is so relaxing you people should try it sometime :D And im from finland too
