How "rare" are some Random Events?

Ok, my neighbor was over my house today when she said "Can i sell mime legs and gloves?" when I started freaking out. I've been thinking about it..

I get Mysterious Men, Mysterious Men Box Give-outs, and Genies. So how rare are The Maze and The Mime. My neighbor told me the Mysterious Man says "I'm going to take you to a special place!" but still. How rare or the Maze and the Mime?

I̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢ve had them all numerous time, with one exception ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ I have never had a Pious Pete random. Other than that I would say that the maze and mime are about evenly the next rarest (maybe 10 times each), then comes Freaky Forester and Camo man (20 times or so each) and all the rest bunched up in the hundreds of times. I don̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t count the newest quiz master one, but I have had it a few times already. I haven̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t included the skill specific ones either, but they are in the hundreds also.

Completed full mime kit the other day.

One trick, if you have a full inventory, you cannot be given a mystery box, and the general opinion is that you will usually receive a "transport away" event instead, if it was going to give you a box.

So pack your inventory, especially for actions which do not reduce it, like gold or silver smelting.

Also, if you can ignore and walk away from (without dying) the Dwarf. You can ignore the sandwich lady (but you will be random tele'd).

I generally don't ignore anything which has the chance of a reward I like though.

The "ignore theory" is that by acting like a dumb autoer, you set a flag which will hit you with more or harder to avoid randoms.

I just got done alching from 55 magic to 80 and while doing so, I agree with what this poster says.

These three were the most common:

old man with the box

stupid evil twin

camo man

These seemed less common than the above three:

freaky forester

evil bob (the cat)

the quiz show

maze

mime

the new school random (which I love)

I might say that out of the above, the maze, mime, and the new schoolhouse randoms are the rarest of the bunch.

BTW - I think I have 22 fishing and haven't even used a pole or a net outside of the evil bob random. :)

I've only had one frog random in my character's young life and that was while running an agility course.

I alched with only bows, nats, and cash in my inventory with both public and private chat set to "off".

The rarest one would be the Pious Pete random event. I've only gotten it ONCE. I've never gotten Evil Bob's island though..

I guess it depends on where you train. There are certain "hotspots" for random events. I train in the Stronghold of Security Flesh Crawlers and get the maze and pinball numerous times.

well in my opinion they are not called Randomevents for nothing, they are just random they can appear anywhere they are just random so i dont think is that u get one or not , one day you may get lots or other day u dont get any at all, what u do increases the chance of getting it when u r doing skills like crafting its more likely to get a random event but it dont make it common. :D

You started off by saying that "they are not called Randomevents for nothing, they are just random they can appear anywhere", but went on to say that, "what u do increases the chance of getting it when u r doing skills like crafting its more likely to get a random event". Which is it?

Randoms are random. That's a fact.

Also, it is theorized that Jagex has set the rate at which you get a random higher after doing one thing for long periods of time. Often while training combat, for example, for a long time, you'll get a random if you try to alch something or teleport away.

I noticed if I'm, say, traning combat, I always seem to get a random right while I bury a bone or teleport away. When I was a noob, I got the maze random a lot, haven't gotten it since. And only got mime twice <.<. I get the stupid box plenty of times though....

Drunken Dwarf : 3 times

rewards: the usual x 3

Dr. Jekyll : 5 times

rewards: strength potion (2) x 5

Freaky Forester : 1 time

rewards: Lederhosen Hat

Genie : 2 times

rewards: total 880 herblore exp

MOM : 4 times

rewards: uncut sapphire x 3, 80 gp

MOM: Maze : 2 times

rewards: total 125 coal, total 1322 feathers, total 220 steel arrows, total 167 death runes, total 3020 gp

MOM: Mysterious Box : 4 times

rewards: uncut emerald x 2, 160gp, uncut sapphire

Mr. Mordaut : 7 times

rewards: total 3960 herblore exp, 825 construction exp

Niles, Miles, and Giles : 2 times

rewards: uncut sapphire, 320gp

Rick Turpentine : 1 time

rewards: uncut sapphire

Security Guard : 1 time

rewards: 320gp

The Frogs : 1 time

rewards: the usual token

That should give you a fairly accurate breakdown of which randoms are more rare than others. FTR, I've never gotten Pious Pete, and the Drill Demon only once. The freaky Forester you see is the first time I've gotten that, as well. If any of you want, PM me in a couple weeks and I'll send you the list then. I hope, as I get 99 wc, fm, and hunter, to compile a very accurate percentage for randoms.

perfect grammar is one thing, typing like a drugged monkey and enjoying it is another

AMEN!

I have YET to get all the emotes and outfits from most randoms...

Personally, I think they are randomly selected, but that the "spinner" which selects it can be biased slightly.
