Google merely buys rights to the photos, taken by the USGS and other agencies. I don't know how the pictures are taken from other countries though. Google can't buy the rights to a picture that isn't there.

April 17, 200521 yr The whole Area 51 satellite pictures have been seen before, Terraserver had them a while ago before they were removed. This crackpot's site has been passed in and out of forums, as you can tell by the 60,000 comments. FYI the green circles are farms that are all over the midwest, and I'm guessing that the craters near the base are bomb tests.

April 18, 200521 yr Kinda frustrating when most of the times you just get the same message. Why do they even have the whole world map there when it's only possible to zoon in just some megacities in u.s. and britain. /me disapointed :( . Reality is hundreds of times more beautiful and more interesting than delusions. Fairy tales just tend to be easier to follow than the wonderful intricacies of life.

Also, the goverment has this stuff open to the public, which means that they probably could first do it about a decade ago (at least.) PDM PDM

Hate to disappoint you, but you know, there might me a tiny chance other countries also make satellite/aerial images... America isn't *that* superior... Can't be all that hard for Google to get their hands on those, seeing as they already added Canada and part of Mexico, and you can see the rest of the world to some extent (detail level sucks big time, but well...)
April 19, 200521 yr old info, but fairly acurate..a lot more acurate than mapquest. i looked up the area were I live....I must say the stailite image was very outdated, and the mad was bout 15 years outdayed ********** One of the old guard of RS.
