Help! I'm going to England

Featured Replies

We are going to visit some family and they live somewhere around Manchester I think. We intend on staying for about a month, I want to see as many things as possible and I need some help on where to go. I definitly want to go to Old Trafford and check that out. Also intending on going to London and seeing some things there, but where else should I go?

Please help :)

Across the Pennines is the best place to go bud

My advice is to get out of Manchester ASAP. It's a lovely city, great architecture, history...there's only one, massive problem. Manchunians.

Liverpool is close to Manchester, so you could explore your inner Beatle and go there. T'other side of this big hilly bit called the Pennines, you'll reach Yorkshire, the only county in England where the population are all related. And a bit further north of Manchester is the Lake District, in a place called Cumbria.

Now, that place is a great place to visit. The one place in England that would blow you away with views. Especially if you go soon, so you see the orange leaves etc. And the best part about it? Kendal Mint Cake. Ooooooh that's good!! :D

Great! thanks to both but whats so bad about Manchunians?

clansig7.gif

It's like, you know how people all have good qualities and then bad qualities? Well, Mancs have the bad qualities of everyone you meet, and are so overawed by arrogance, petulance and a decent grasp of the language we speak, they have none of the good.

Spot on, from what I gather from the Red Sox fans of the forum, you're right on track.

Let them flame, we know we're right.

I thought Vegimite was another word for lesbian....

Mancs and Scousers are really similar, I dunno how you can complain about Mancs having all those characteristics.

Some Advice:

The imperial war museum(london) is awesome...try to go there. My personal favorite of london.

STAY ON THE RIGHT! on the tube escalators...I've had bad experiences

Madam Tusauds sucks...don't go :-w

Herrods is overpriced

Don't go into restaurants with no one in them

Don't eat in pubs that arn't known for food(The Crown in Bray is excellent, best food I ate there; btw...even if you arn't 18, you can still eat in pubs, you just have to eat outside)

Bray is worth a visit just for the crown <3:

Thats all I can say...I was only there for two weeks but it was fun

Stop acting such a moron.

Last time I was in London we went on this Jack the Ripper tour of all the spots where he committed his crimes. The real prostitutes that happened to be nearby gave it that really authentic feel.

Go see the English tip.iters. :D

This is almost exactly like the thread 'an appeal to USA tip.iters'.

But you have to agree, 'Help, I'm going to England' sounds a bit desperate.

EDIT: 600 posts w00t!

Herrods is overpriced

I'm guessing by that you mean "harrods" right?

And of course it's overpriced, it doesn't hold the title of being one of the most expensive department stores in the UK for nothing now does it?

Anyway you could always visit Newcastle and see st.James park and all that jazz.

Saying that i live in the northeast and it's not exactly the most interesting place in Britain. A lot of people come here to see the angel of the north and trust me when i say its not worth it, i see it almost everyday and it's just a big heap of metal which chavs use as an excuse to graffiti on it.

We can breath in space, they just don't want us to escape

Kendal Mint Cake. Ooooooh that's good!! :D

Concentrated solidified sugar. cant go wrong!

yeah the lakes are a really cool place to visit, I cant really vouch for the liverpool / manchester debate here since I've only ever been to manchester.. and that was to see sunderland get beat at old trafford a year or two ago... great stadium. do go if you get the chance.

^^ That's Completely Right, I went to Manchester just to visit my Uncle, and What I saw was dreaful.. Come on Down to Wales =]

But Like others say go to Pennines.
