rushrock
This thread is for discussing the awesomeness that is the punk-inspired NWOBHM band Iron Maiden. I got into them when I started metalling up my music taste. I first heard their song Run to the Hills on my iPod downloaded by my brother, and I've been hooked ever since. They have catchy riffs, their drummer is freaking brilliant, and their solos are intense. I strongly suggest listening to Number of the Beast, The Trooper, , and , just to start out (yeah, two of them are from Guitar Hero, w/e). They're just amazing. 8-) Steve Harris - Leader of the band, bassist, primary songwriter, keyboard, backing vocals Dave Murray - Lead guitarist, songwriter (one of the original members) Nicko McBrain - Drummer Bruce [bleep]inson - Lead singer, songwriter Adrian Smith - Guitarist, songwriter, backing vocals Janick Gers - Guitarist, songwriter \m/ -_- \m/ \m/ -_- \m/ \m/ -_- \m/ \m/ -_- \m/ \m/ -_- \m/ \m/ -_- \m/ \m/ -_- \m/ \m/ -_- \m/ \m/ -_- \m/ \m/ -_- \m/ \m/ -_- \m/
AThousandLies
I got tickets to their show here in February, and as such just started getting into them. I quite like 'Wasted Years' and 'Hallowed be Thy Name'. Rockin' band.
Kalphite
I started listening to metal in August. I got a few CDs that Erk (02) here reccomended to me. Basically, Master of Puppets and the black album by Metallica and Countdown to Extinction, United Abominations, and Rust in Peace by Megadeth. I listened to the stuff for a while, and I really liked it. I asked him for more stuff to start listening to, and he pointed me towards Iron Maiden. The first CD of theirs I got was Powerslave, and it was brilliant. I think that 2 minutes to Midnight and Aces High were the best songs on the CD, though the whole thing was good. Recently, I acquired "The Number of The Beast," and it is even better than Powerslave. The whole thing is amazing, though I like Number of The Beast and Hallowed Be Thy Name best. Azvareth
BUY the FULL discography then tell me that. Why did you capitalise "buy"? Please explain to me how the hell that changes the band's style of music in the slightest? I have heard their entire discography countless of times, and I'm telling you that Iron Maiden started out as a NWOBHM band, and that they are now a heavy metal band. The bandmembers have said the same thing - so I'm seriously starting to wonder if you're trolling..., or if you're actually serious.

speedofsound
I have recently been listening to a lot of Metal as well. Last weekend I picked up Edward The Great: Greatest Hits It's brilliant. I was especially happy to see Number Of the Beast on there because that is quite possibly my favorite Iron Maiden song. You can't ever find a place that's nice and peaceful, because there isn't any. You may think there is, but once you get there, when you're not looking, somebody'll sneak up and write "(bleep) you" right under your nose. Try it sometime. I think, even, if I ever die, and they stick me in a cemetery, and I have a tombstone and all, it'll say "Holden Caulfield" on it, and then what year I was born and what year I died, and then right under that it'll say "(bleep) you."
