3.0L Automatic for a first car... Try your best not to kill yourself.

Like Merc my first car was a 1.1L, it was a mark 3 Ford Fiesta. Cheap to fuel but expensive to insure... Being only 18 years old and living in Britain that's normal though. Second car was a replacement car as I crashed my first into some trees. 1.0L Peugeot 205, lovely little car but incredibly slow. :P Third car was a 1.4L Peugeot 306, was a fun little run about until I crashed into the backend of a parked car... Fourth car was a 2.0L Vauxhall Calibra, BIG IMPROVEMENT. But a lot more dangerous for me to be driving in. Caught twice for speeding... Got fed up with having to repair it... So I got a small loan from the bank and have now got a 2.0L V6 Mazda 323F.. Not much faster than the Calibra but a lot nicer and smoother to drive. Let's hope I don't crash this one because I might not survive. ;) So that's 5 cars in 3 years... Every one of them has been a lesson and a gradual one at that. Admittedly the jump from 1.4L to 2.0L could have been made a tad bit smoother... But I got used to the power fairly quickly and didn't kill myself in the process.

But seriously. 3.0L... FIRST CAR?! Your parents must be insane or they want you dead. :uhh:

So it's your first car, and your mom's paying for it? All $11,000 of it? And on the first day you hit a deer. Anyone else see a problem with this? -.-

Plenty, but its not like hes going to listen to us....

We were all like him before we got our first car, always thought we were invincible. Inevitable thing is, somethings gonna go wrong within that first year.

It sucks, i didnt think it would happen to me but from what i heard i handled the situation good. The deer darted across the road and i couldnt swerve cuz cars and trees were around me and i clipped the rear end of it.

You could say it was because of lack of experience but i dont think i coulda prevented it.

Whether your fault or not, something almost always happens within the early days of driving alone.

The question is, do you want the inevitable to happen to a nice car or a beater?

You can say that same thing to an older person with experience and a nice car.

Yeah, I'll say I told you so when you're a splattered mess, cause you thought you were 10ft tall and bullet proof.

I could of saved up and bought a turbo'd car for my first car, but I actually have some grey matter in between my ears, you need alot of experiance to be a good driver. Stick a young kid behind the wheel of a car with a decently sized engine and you're just asking for trouble really.

I'm down on ricers because most of them know absolutely nothing. For one tuner that knows what hes doing, theres 20 "wannabes" that don't.

Because every redneck driving his old Dodge, sporting a sexy mullet, ripped jeans and a singlet (see how I steriotyped there, clever huh?) knows everything about whats under his hood? It's all subjective really.

Not quite, friend. Rednecks rarely go around acting like there car is fast and "the sheet", if you know where I'm coming from. Almost all tuners do, and most of them drive slow cars.

=D> nice one. too bad im mature enough to handle what i drive. im not like all the tuner queers who show off to their boyfriends. i dont show off because i dont feel the need for it. every once in a while i'll get on it...but i'm not fortunate enough to have all of my stuff paid for so i have to watch the gas consumtion.

thanks for your interest, you made no change in how i think about 3.0l cars though.

edit: i also know a little bit about young kids and big engines. i have a friend who...for his 18th birthday, her mom gave him her 92 25th anv. camaro with the 5.0l in it. a year, another engine, another transmission, a bent up hood, another set of tires, and 6 tickets later, he's still living.

i didnt say to go out and get a 8.0l v10 viper for someones first car. im just saying....3.0 isnt that big..any non-mentally challenged kid who has half a brain could handle it..

I agree, but a 3.0L car is still a fairly powerful car, and in the hands of a 15 year old on his restricted is far too powerful.

Poopingman, I get where you're coming from, but it annoys me, when people lump everyone that has a nice tuner car as a immature boy racer who goes out and does doughies and illegal drags every weekend.

And hey, don't get me wrong, I laugh at people that thing the diameter of their big bore is equivilent to HP.

A lot of people are ignorant and assume all tuners are clueless, because ricers are what they see day in and day out. Blame the ricers, they give you guys the bad name. I also conveyed that there are smart tuners out there, hell, I'm friends with one! So I'm no redneck...Camaro or not :P

Yeah I agree, when ever I hear about a fatal accident where two people having a drag kill a pedestrian, I just think ohhh, crap, spotlights on us again. It always it, so much stupid crap the cops can ping boyracers now because the government brought it in.

You can get a ticket for accelerating too fast (not breaking any speed limit), suspended loss of traction (which they class even a little squeek as suspended loss of traction) immature little [cabbage]s with powerful cars just do not mix. Been so many pedestrians kill this year cause of illegal drags.
