Blueleader9
Hey guys, I am 15 years old and my parents won't even consider allowing M games in the house. Mr_Putter
I don't think the ESRB makes up laws, I could be wrong. Personally, I think if you're 15 and mature you should be able to play a game that some people believe you need to be 17 to play. Is there any way you can get to a store w/o your parents, and just buy it and hide it? Or you could downplay the violence in it, argue that it's art, or tell them the ESRB is garbage. Blueleader9
Im not sure its illegal. Because it "may be" unsuitable for ages 17+. I'm wearing Rune Axe.Wearing? Did you selotape the axe on your chest?
Skill_Caster
unlucky. your parents wont let you break the law. deal with it. It's not necessarily breaking the law, it's up to the parents, really. The only ESRB game rating that is [somewhat] legally binding is the AO (adult only) title, which isn't really enforced anyway. I'm getting an Xbox 360 for Christmas, the reason; so I can play Halo and other games with my friend over Xbox Live, but my parents didn't allow any M games. Eventually, I just played it so much at my friends house my parents didn't see of the difference of owning it. That, and my parents trust me. Nadril
Prove to your parents you're mature enough. Sneaking games in works if you have a job and your own money, depending on how observent they are.
Lionheart_0
I have actually heard of people going to jail for selling under 17's M rated games... let me try and find a source. Edit: can't find sources, but I'm sure i've heard it on the news or something. Then again this is the person selling the game, not buying it. Sig by IkuraiYour Guide to Posting! Defender2516
I played mature video games without a problem. Anyone else see the contradiction in the statements? :P Show them how mature you are...sneaking games in works #-o Going behind their back will only serve to antagonise them and help reinforce their point. runescapeloser22
Wow, strict parents :anxious: I would try to convince them that it's not "dangerous" to you or whatever the reason is they won't let you get it. Good luck!
llamster
Play T games. Ah, this reminds me about the noob on the Runescape forums who was upset with the quest "Cold War" because apparently his grandparents died in the war. :wall:

Just because he played the game doesn't mean he got the idea from the game to shoot a cop. Most people can play the game and realize that it's just a game. If they can't, they need some physiological help, which the game is not at fault for.

darkblade986
Rather than outright asking them if you can get M rated games in general, ask your parents why they won't let you buy M rated games, and try and get specific reasons (such as because they think they're too violent, they don't want you seeing/hearing sexually suggestive things, etc). Then find a specific game that you want, and do some research (notable research, like online reviews, not "my friend said...") to try and play down the reasons for the rating. If you can prove to your parents that what they think is in the game isn't as bad as they truly think, they might let you purchase the games. You may be required to do this several times over if you have multiple games you want to get, but doing this kind of research should help persuade your parents in the future to allow you to purchase these video games. You might also want to mention that the ESRB ratings are only suggestions, and they may or may not be truly indicative of what the game is actually like. As a last resort, find a review of the game outlining it's absolute good points, while "conveniently" leaving out issues that might make your parents change their minds. If all else fails, you either continue what your doing and risk never gaining their trust or you can just wait 2 more years until the ESRB ratings say that you are old enough to play the game, at which time your parents should have no logical argument to use against you except that they don't want you playing video games that much. don't worry, you are going to "hell" anyway. wanna race to see who gets there first?Officially reached 100 Combat at 1:33PM EST, June 14, 2007First Dragon Drop: Dragon Chain (Dust Devils) @ 10:48PM EST, July 14, 2008, lv113 combat

The only M game I played was Duke Nukem 3D (Heh my first gory fps at the age of 6!) Sig by IkuraiYour Guide to Posting! Behave or I will send my Moose mounted Beaver launchers at you! Nadril
^ It was kind of weird for me. I played stuff like Doom when I was 5/6, and stuff like duke nukem 3D later on but when I was older (like 12/13) I had a difficult time getting M games at times. I did get half life though.
