astro
isnt m 15+? it is in australia anyway... esrb is just a recommendation, not law. It says "RECOMMENED FOR MATURE AUDIENCES" on it. Doesnt it?
Mamong
isnt m 15+? it is in australia anyway... esrb is just a recommendation, not law. It says "RECOMMENED FOR MATURE AUDIENCES" on it. Doesnt it? Yes, Australia has different ratings to the US. We have M15+, whereas their M means Mature, for over 17's only I believe? They have a 'T' category (teen) which I guess is the equivalant of an M15+ rating here in Australia. Bloodredsword
As said above: Prove that you're mature, and that you can handle those kinds of games. I guess you could try an emulator...but that wouldn't be much fun. :-$ Listen to the mighty words of Bloodredsword. Tip it MGC Xbox live leader board! Harakiri
If they won't let you play MGS than play Splinter Cell, its the next best thing....and I really feel sorry for the threadmaker...his parents won't let him play rated M games. I want to laugh at him and say how great M games are but I don't wanna look like a jerkoff. Anyway,I guess your gonna have to live with it for another two years dude...I think MGS will still be around in 09.

Retefael
It seems to me to be like R rated movies: an adult should be present, but other than that, it's O.K. I don't run races to see who's the fastest, I run to see who has the most guts. -PreCurrently the best beat out there:Minuit jacuzzi (DatA Remix) - TEPR
ugafan_2009
Heh, I just wore them down until they let me get God of War 2. Then I told them that that was as bad as they get besides the GTA series. Or, just get a tame M game such as Halo or Socom. If they see you play it, they probably won't care in the future. JordanGM
shoot them in the leg to show them that violent video games don't effect children like they ESRB thinks they do  I lol'd. Just tell them off. Tell them that its just a game, and you know it is. Tell them you wouldn't even think about doing the things in the game in real life and they're sad to think so. underu2000
All my games are M, my dad thinks any game without "violence" on it isn't worth playing. But once a stupid salesclerk lady mentioned "sexual themes" and it almost blew it for me. Luckily I stuck wit teh shooterz and now I'm all good. I hope they aren't around when I play Mass Effect though, heard there was a sex scene somewhere in there. Same theory for your folks. It looks like they don't mind violence as long as it's simple shooting or hacknslash, so stick with those games. Stay away from other games until your parents gain your trust, upon which you can play pretty much any game your parents would care to not bother nitpicking on. Life is a joke. Yeah, I don't get it either.
AThousandLies
You could just stick to Mario and Tetris ... ? I actually was brought up on pretty much only Mario, Donkey kong, and watching my mom play tetris. The only M game I played was Duke Nukem 3D (Heh my first gory fps at the age of 6!) Yeah, but in that case M stood for "My god this is awesome!" Xx_Flare_xX
Prove to them that you're mature enough to play it. I proved it to my parents when I was..what...10 maybe? The first M rated game I played was Vice City if I remember right. I can understand something like Halo 3 ok underage, but GTA is one of the exceptions I have...on the news one day, an 8-year-old kid went out in the streets in real life after playing Vice City and shot a real police officer. :shame: Oh please Jack Thompson has gotten to you (wiki it if you don't know who he is). Just because he played the game doesn't mean he got the idea from the game to shoot a cop. Most people can play the game and realize that it's just a game. If they can't, they need some physiological help, which the game is not at fault for. Jack Thompson let his kid buy GTA Vice City underaged :P . why can't we? Pirate_Steve
Wow, strict parents :anxious: I would try to convince them that it's not "dangerous" to you or whatever the reason is they won't let you get it. Good luck! Strict? I just see it as trying to raise their kids without rated M games, or blood, gore, and the f word every other second.

Wow nice one, I've never played an M game in recent memory that even has the f word more then once, if at all. And in some games you can turn off the blood & gore. The characters and criminals do make threats or call each other names, but I can barely remember even a few occassions of 'f' being used in that game. But other than that I would have to agree with Pirate_Steve; Why on earth would I want my kid to play, say GTA? :? I can have fun while playing it, but don't expect a 10-11 year old (or heaven forgive, younger than that) understanding the game, and the fact it's just entertainment, not something 'acceptable'... And he's also in high school, I think high school kids hear much more language and witness much more drug use and such in the real world than in a game such as GTA. Don't tell that to my parents though, they think GTA is the spawn of Satan. Quit RS, combat 104, total 1651
