What do you mean you rest your case? Why did you take two points out of context and think you have explained away his points? What game are you playing.
Which two points did I take out of context?

Edit: Actually, he explained is own points away.

"You contradicted yourself. You said that Atheist don't have a base of beliefs beside the disbelief in God. "

Absolutely true.

I rest my case.

Do you have anything to say about my other two points?

No time for a big reply right now since there's like 10 reports open... But I thought that's a very immature statement of you to make. You didn't even understand to try the person who made the argument... Here is his whole phrase:

"You contradicted yourself. You said that Atheist don't have a base of beliefs beside the disbelief in God. "

Absolutely true.

He obviously meant it's absolutely true atheists don't have any common beliefs besides the fact they don't believe in the existence of a God (which is true, atheism isn't an organised faith or idea, it's just the belief of no divine entities existing). Personal attacks based on straw-men like that don't really further the cause of learning more, and being more educated on the issue of religion by debating...

Saying that the only base of Atheism is the disbelief in God and then going onto say that Atheism believe that there isn't a higher purpose does not refer to a God. It is very obvious to see that he is saying in one sentence that Atheism has a certain base and then in another sentence he is saying that it has another. This is a contradiction.

Who the heck has said that? I'm pretty sure that not only has no one made that statement, but that everyone has gone to great lengths to make sure that it didn't come across that they were making that statement in your eyes.

I'll accept he is real in a pantheistic deistic (pandeistic) way. I'm an Atheist, who some would call an Agnostic. If God is real, I only believe he is real in a pantheistic way, with a deistic root.

BTW I only use the pronoun "he" because it seems second nature, and "it" sounds awkward. But a god would not have a human sex.

Think of it this way:

Well, technically speaking, God isn't real because He did not manifest Himself in our "reality dimension" (aka the dimension we're living in right now).

Hope that helped. #-o

I say no. My theory is that we as humans can't stand blank spaces. What I mean by blank spaces is unanswered questions. Example: Centuries ago many empires had gods for thunder/lightning,water,sun,love,wine etc. We didn't know the scientific reason that thunder/lightning existed, or what the heck the sun was or how wine made us intoxicated. So we made up temporary reasons e.g. Gods.

Present day we still have unanswered questions..How was the universe created? Is there life after death? What is the meaning of life? No proven scientific answer yet so most have filled in the blank like usual, A Divine GOD who created this universe(Question 1 answered), resides in an eternal paradise called heaven(Question 2 answered) and has a plan for us all as we are his/her children(Question 3 answered).

That is just my theory on this subject.

Actually, he did...He walked in Eden with Adam and he wrestled with...Joshua, was it? I dunno', some guy. And he manifested as Jesus according to most Christian theology.

Ok, I'll keep this simple. There isn't any solid evidence that God exists. However, it's based on hope and faith. It shouldn't matter whether or not something's real; it's a matter of believing and staying faithful in the face of adversity. During the hectic HSC (final secondary school exams before Uni in Aus) period, many of my friends turned to religion (and no, I didn't attend a particularly religious school. I haven't had a religious studies lesson since 2005) to keep them sane during the build-up to and during the exams. It's something to believe in, to turn to when you're in need.

Yes, on special occasions (Easter, Christmas) I will, as I always have, attend Mass. Even though I'm not a devout believer in God, I enjoy being there; the peace it brings. Seeing hundreds of people crowded into a Catholic Chuch on a day consumed by presents, money and further consumerism, being there helps me to believe. It makes me want to believe. It creates a sense of hope in me. Hope. That's all we have.

Didn't the egyptians think that certain gods were certain genders?

Anyway, I do believe in god, but he isn't the all powerful, all loving and all-knowing god that most christians (like myself) Believe in. because if he was then:

1) He wouldn't allow humans to exist, knowing the planet would be wrecked if he did.

2) nothing bad would ever happen to us - no deaths, no pain, no disabilities.

3) he would never let his son, Jesus Christ, die.

these topics normally rely on beliefs more than facts. Beliefs are much harder to argue against because some have an adapted version of thier religion (like me). in which case, it is a case of trying to persuade. I hate doing that. if you do find a way to argue against my point, don't expect an argument back/

Then how would we ever learn? We'd just be frikkin' robots.

3) he would never let his son, Jesus Christ, die.

Well, according to Christianity, he died for our sins, so that self-sacrifice was kinda considered necessary by both God and Jesus.

Building upon this, God said in the Bible that all of our good deeds are as filthy rags. AKA, everything good we do means NOTHING to God. You cannot earn his respect. Christianity is not a works-righteous system (and it's the ONLY religion that is not!). So if all our good deeds mean nothing to God, why would anything on the Earth that happens REALLY matter to God? This is a failed experiment, if you will. People ask "Why won't God heal cancer patients?", the simple answer? Because it doesn't matter. People cling to the Earth like it's the only thing there. God knows different. In fact, if you die from cancer, you'd be better off if you're a Christian, obviously! Why do Christians cry when their loved-ones die? Why do people pray for worldly goods? Why do people pray for a cure to world hunger?

All of these things are Earthly matters that do not concern God. I know it SOUNDS cruel to some, but why WOULD they matter? Earth and life is not something you should cling to, Earth and life is something you should beg for a release from, if anything! This place SUCKS, especially compared to what it was SUPPOSED to be like.

If Christianity is true, then when Jesus comes back, Earth will be restored to its former glory. And even then, God won't be concerned with your worldly-plights, because you won't HAVE any. But say you did - God would be concerned then, because at that point, you're on the Earth forever, and if you needed to be cured of a disease, he would cure it. But alas, at that point, you wouldn't need his help, he'd have already bestowed a perfect existence upon you.

So that is why God can exist and still not help the world with their plights. They're irrelevant to the plan. It's up to us to help people if we can - and we do help these people as much as we can.

And yes we know earthly matters don't consern god. Thats why he lets people to starve death in third world countries and then trows them to burn in hell for eternity because they believe (know) about him.

Reality is hundreds of times more beautiful and more interesting than delusions. Fairy tales just tend to be easier to follow than the wonderful intricacies of life.

Your sarcasm is weak, but I'll run with it...

When the world ends, according to Christianity, we don't become "mindless robots" to make the world perfect. Satan is removed as an influence. Perhaps before you discuss matters of this magnitude, you should do research on the subject as to not sound silly!

God created this Earth without Satan's influence upon it, hence it started out perfect. Satan had a little hissy-fit because he believed himself to be above Adam, even though God directly demanded Satan to bow to Adam. Indeed, God loved us so greatly as his best creation that he told the Angels to bow to us. Satan refused, and God punished him. Satan then vowed to use his time on Earth to do nothing but turn us away from God, and God agreed to this.

The real question, and one which I do not know the answer to (perhaps someone else here does) is - Why did God even ALLOW Satan to deceive us? Perhaps Satan deceived Eve and the damage was already done at that point, so God agreed to let Satan mess with us to see if we would still turn to God and turn away from Satan. God laid it all out in the Bible, so it is there for us to see. If we deny it, then we are willingly ignorant, just as the Bible says.

Read Revelation, my friend. If you do, you will see that there are some things in there that cannot just be mere coincidence.

When Israel was established in 1948, that was a fulfilled prophecy. The Bible says Israel would be re-established. Coincidence? Okay, let's say it is! Well, the Bible continues, saying that when it is re-established, it will be surrounded by enemies from all sides. Now, when Israel was established, that VERY day, the five Muslim countries surrounding Israel attacked Israel all at once. They were all defeated, as the Bible said they would be. The fighting continued through several wars, and Israel defeated the Muslim nations EVERY single time, so much so that Israel even gained more land at one point, much to the Muslims' dismay. The Muslims cried to the UN, and Israel was forced to give the land back, which they did.

To this day, Israel is attacked by Muslim nations, and Israel has never fell, even though for every 1 Israeli, there are 500 Muslims. If there is no God protecting Israel, that'd be one hell of a huge coincidence.

The Bible says that Israel will continue to be attacked, but it will never fall to the attackers. Someday, it will be separated (Bill Clinton started this proposal) and the Bible says that when it is, Jesus will come back at that time.

They're not coincidences. They're "inconvenient truths", if you will. ;) For you, anyways, since you ignore this.

Furthermore, I don't believe anyone will be "burned eternally". I don't believe in a literal Hell, as it doesn't make sense for God to punish those who don't follow him - it only makes sense for him to not REWARD them. Hell is a metaphor for the burning pain one would feel being separated from God for eternity, knowing of his existence.

Do you know what the Bible says about the anti-Christ? It says that the anti-Christ will promise peace and deceive many, but eventually, all will see it as a farce. Tell me - what is the biggest pusher of false peace today? A movement that - by all accounts - is growing? By that I mean, what is a group of people who are saying "This is peaceful!" even though it clearly is not?

Islam. Islam claims to be the "religion of peace", and it deceives MANY into thinking that - however, anyone who knows the Qu'ran and ISN'T a Muslim knows that Islam is NOT peaceful. Hell, it's "prophet" was a WAR GENERAL and a sinner in life in general.

I've made my case, so what have you to say of it?

Hell, it's "prophet" was a WAR GENERAL and a sinner in life in general.

Since I'm not really that familiar with the Qu'ran, could you expand on that?

Certainly.

I'll copy this from Wikipedia just to give a really quick explanation.

"Muhammad gained few followers early on, and was largely met with hostility from the tribes of Mecca; he was treated harshly and so were his followers. To escape persecution, Muhammad and his followers migrated to Yathrib (Medina) in the year 622. This historic event, the Hijra, marks the beginning of the Islamic calendar. In Medina, Muhammad managed to unite the conflicting tribes, and after eight years of fighting with the Meccan tribes, his followers, who by then had grown to ten thousand, conquered Mecca."

Muhammed did not bring Islam through peace. He brought it through war. He sacked Mecca when he had enough followers, and he over-threw it.

As for Muhammed's sinning in general, I don't think I need to explain it really. Even the Qu'ran says that only Jesus and Mary were sparred from Satan's touch, which means Muhammed was - like all of us - touched by Satan, and a sinner.

Pretty much everyone who is into Christian-Islamic theology and is a Christian believes that Muhammed is not a prophet of God, but a pawn of Satan. Muhammed displayed many traits typically seen in "possessed" people, and this is well-documented in the Qu'ran. He had seizures, his eyes rolled into the back of his head, he spoke in tongues and vomited, etc etc. I know that sounds like the movie The Exorcist, and hence makes possession itself sound unbelievable, but that itself was based on a true story, so yea...Though I don't believe anyones head has EVER spun around in a circle. Not even Muhammed!

I, personally, will never submit to Islam. Islam will come, it will conquer and it will rule the world - just like Muslims chant and hope for. It will happen. However, I will never submit. If the time comes when an Islamic-Gestapo comes door-to-door to line up the infidels, I will line up willingly to be beheaded.

Even if I believed in no religion, I would still never submit to Islam.

Muslims are deceived greatly, and many of them know it but they do not care because they have an agenda. On Youtube, there is a man who converted from Islam to Christianity and preaches the message of Jesus. Muslims on Youtube tried to discredit him, saying he did not know Arabic, so he could not speak of the Qu'ran...Then they found out that Arabic is his first language, and English is his second. After they found that out, they offered him $10,000 to shut up about Islam. He declined.

;)

Baseless lies... I mean, really. If any extremists were to hear this, you'd seriously be dead.

But, a true muslim follower will raise an outcry about this instead of protesting violently.

Well, frankly that's your problem. You don't go crossing the line by insulting another religion just because YOU hate it. Your lies and B.S. evidence is just another attempt to discredit another religion.

Why bother learning the Quran if you're not a Muslim? It just gives the opportunity for Satan to convince you that Islam is wrong. Anyone in their right mind will seek guidance with a religious leader, (Bible with priests, Quran with Imams and so on) instead of interpreting what it says on your own.

And, no. He does not sin as God has ordered an angel to clear any impurities in his heart. So, Satan can't get to him.

Please note that the above poster is surely one to be believed! He is VERY smart! I mean, look! He even said I was racist for not liking his religion! SO SMART!

Not.

This is a common tactic of Muslims. They call you racist for pointing out Islam's BS and calling it false. Tell me, sir...What race are you? Arab? Asian? White? Well, no matter...Because there is not ONE SINGLE religion on this EARTH that subsists entirely of one race. Not one single religion. Therefore, how is it "racist" to dislike your religion? Here, I'll answer for you - IT ISN'T.

If I am racist for disliking your ideology then YOU are racist for disliking MY ideology, are you not? Again, I'll answer - Yes, you would be! So calling me racist for speaking out against your ideas is just like calling yourself a racist for speaking against mine. In short, you're a fool.

Another common tactic - not only of Muslims, but of most fools online - calling Wikipedia "unreliable" because people can edit it as they wish. Tell me, sir...Did Muhammed NOT conquer Mecca? Is that a lie? History and even the Qu'ran says "NO" it is not a lie. Muhammed DID indeed sack Mecca with an army, so where is the unreliability?! I submit that there is none in that quote.

And I'm telling "baseless lies" by saying Muhammed had seizures and displayed other signs of possession? Even all Muslims admit that Muhammed had seizures, so we know that one is true, in fact it likely played into his death. Anyways...Qu'ran 53:19-20 ring a bell?

And, no. He does not sin as God has ordered an angel to clear any impurities in his heart. So, Satan can't get to him.

You can say Islam is a religion of peace all you want, but me saying "You are a super model!" does not make it so, does it? Likewise, saying Islam is peaceful does not make it so.

As a Muslim (as I gather you are), do you deny that the Qu'ran says to behead infidels, unbelievers, whatever? Christians and Jews, namely, who refuse to convert, should be beheaded according to Islam. Most Muslims argue that this is only in times of war, which makes it okay, since, obviously, killing your enemy is what you're supposed to do in war, right?

Well, there are three problems with this...

1.) Muslims can make anything into a war. If you say something against Islam, it is taken as something AGAINST Islam, which makes it a struggle for Islam. Struggle = Jihad, and Jihad in the name of Islam can call for war. So basically, anything against Islam is liable to the rules of Jihad. Deny this all you want, it just makes you very ignorant of your religion. It's very sad when someone who dislikes your religion (not your people, your religion) knows it better than you, a follower, does.

2.) Jesus is revered as a prophet in Islam. Jesus said to never fight your enemies, and to love and pray for those who harm you. He said if someone were to hit you, you were to turn the other cheek so that they may hit that one as well. He also said if someone were to steal from you, you were to let them, because they obviously needed it more than you did. THAT is peaceful, my friend. Muhammed and Islam is not.

3.) Why would the self-professed God of the Jews tell people to kill Jews? Hilarious. This was ordered in the Qu'ran for political reasons, if not Satanic reasons, because Jews refused to believe Muhammed because he was an Ishmaelite, not an Israelite. All of God's prophets had been ISRAELITES.

Why would God send such a peaceful message through Jesus, and then a war-mongering message through Muhammed? Obviously you don't believe God to be very consistent, do you?!

And yes, there is a difference between extremists and moderates, but there is not a difference between "Muslim" and "Extremist". You don't have to be a suicide bomber to be an extremist, my friend! Not all Muslims do this, but the ENTIRITY of Eastern Muslims are extremists because of their extreme views, even if they are not terrorists. Western Muslims, however, cannot be extremists, because laws do not allow them. They'd be jailed. So the average western Muslim is a moderate Muslim, meaning they don't practice, and are likely raised only to believe in the God of the Qu'ran, not raised to be a Muslim as a whole as the Qu'ran demands. Get it? Probably not.

And by far your funniest quote..."Why bother to read the Qu'ran if you're not a Muslim?" Haha, am I to take that as "Why read our book if you intend on exposing it's flaws?" I read the Qu'ran because it makes me knowledgeable in why it is WRONG. With that attitude, it is clear you'll never read the Bible and see WHY it is wrong.

Furthermore, I cannot read it myself, but rather, I have to ask an Imam for help? Hahaha. No wonder Muslims press this so hard! It keeps questions out, and brain-washing growing at a good rate! Sorry, but 'round these parts, we read, interpret ourselves, THEN ask questions. Not "Ask questions, don't read, don't ask".

And again, for the third time, Muhammed was a war general by definition. He lead over 10,000 men into Mecca, and they conquered it. Period.

Why am I not in my right mind for studying religions and theology without the intention of blindly following them or necessarily asking the intepretations of imams and priests?

What about the fact my mother is a christian, while my father is a muslim? Should I just refrain from studying either religion or learning about the 'holy books' of those religions? (Not that I put any special weight on those particular religions, just because my parents follow one of them)

An Imam or a Priest are just normal humans who studied theology. I don't see how their advice is so important in determining the 'rightness' of a religion.

Muslims do not want questions to be asked, that is why they've stressed it so much.

Believing what everyone TELLS you is not the sign of a believer. Not a smart one, anyways. It is the sign of ignorance.

I read for myself, and interpret myself. If I need a question answered, I discuss it with fellow believers. Not the other way around. If you read it knowing what someone else wanted it to mean, how will you EVER break that belief if it was in fact wrong? People interpret stuff how they want all the time, even if it is wrong. I take everyone's advice with a grain of salt, as would any other wise man or woman.
