Basically, zombies probably wont be a problem if you're in an area where that is the average temperature, since there wont be many people in the first place.

 

Probably since the risk of death by hypothermia is so high.

 

What I'm basically saying is that going to said area is stupid, even in a zombie apocalypse.

Hex, another huge disadvantage of a boat is it takes one decent storm to flip and capsize you. Unless, you have a huge boat, or a rescue boat, which are designed to be nearly impossible to flip, and when they do, they do a barrel roll, and correct themselves...I'm now sure how everyone onboard would do, though. But those boats would take more then one person to maintain. I know this - my dad's in the coast guard (canadian) and I have been aboard the boat many times. Often, it takes 2 people to drive, one to keep lookout, and one to be ready to make repairs in a moments notice. Nevermind the pirates which will surely exist. Do you have a boating license? (Just curious.)

 

In other words, getting ahold of a decent boat and maintaining it would be very hard for a very trained person, nevermind the avarage civilian.

Mather, if Where you live drops to -20/-30, and it is still a populated area, then you're even more screwed. The power and water will inevitably be out, and you wont be able to get any from rivers/streams since it will be frozen. Plus, since the decay is much lower, the zombies will be around until you are out of food.

Only difference is that I'm used to traversing snow, the zombies are not.

 

A frozen creek is easy to break open, having one 50m away is usefull.

They will not gain invulnerability to the cold. They have no blood flow, or body heat.

Pretty much. The chances of the virus mutating the ability to give it's host resistance to the cold would be next to nil.
