VEGHATERMEATLOVER
Zombies would move slower in cold temps due to them freezing. This sound thing is stupid... so a zombie is going to walk towards any loud ambient noise? Why? Zombies will move to human sounds not any ambient bangs and crashes or just ignore it all together, I always thought it was the zombies howl that drew more zombies to it. Explosives will not just kill zombies, they will move them away from the area.
Seraphi
Because the only thing worse than zombies is a zombie which is on fire. Hex, the zombies will go after any really loud sound. Explosives are very loud. As for temperature, I'd think it would need to be low enough to kill the virus to stop the zombie. I'm not sure -30 would be enough. Seraphi
I'd think even in a dormant state, as long as it is still there, I think the zombie would continue, although maybe more sluggishly.
Seraphi
I think it's more to do with a chemical which the virus produces which causes the body to attack other living beings.
The_Mather1
The entire zombie is frozen at cold temperatures but can thaw again (so sais the guide), in a winter that lasts for around 3-4 months that's a huge opportunity to slay them. Seraphi
I'm going for the train idea. Nex. In the event of an outbreak, you want to get the hell out of NY before it's quarentined because of thousand strong hoardes wandering the streets.
Retech
That reminds me of a totally unrelated idea, which might be good for the enviroment and save many lives. Install a monorail in place of all our roads (well one monorail on both sides of the road), where it'll be a very simple pipe looking thing attached to the ground. Current vehicles would be outfitted with a grasper at the bottom, where they could hook up to the rail and thus drive in a straight line following the rail. The rail could be supplied with electricity, which would make electric cars much more feasible. -- Nex lives in Upstate New York, not the city. Master of your domain? Nexaduro
And you could turn it into an electric fence against zombies! Seraphi
that would work well, assuming you got seeds, and there wasnt a zombie varient that could climb..Stop basing this off of a videogame. There wont be any zombie types, there will be a single zombie variety. The chances of a mutation occuring which would affect the hosts body are pretty much nil. Nex, you still want to get away from NY, since it is densely populated.
Earth
its pssible, and im thinking of worst case scenarios here ross. WORST case scenarios. sometimes it pays to be a pessimist... Grim_
On a note to people who want to boat. Do you know how to get supplies from the sea if yours run out? (I am also talking about certain types of vitamins) Do you have several backup plans? (Just incase port A is taken over by pirates/zombies) Do you have several distillery rigs? Seraphi
its pssible, and im thinking of worst case scenarios here ross. WORST case scenarios. sometimes it pays to be a pessimist...I'm a chronic pessimist.(Obligatory quote:“Pessimism is, in brief, playing the sure game. You cannot lose at it; you may gain. It is the only view of life in which you can never be disappointed. Having reckoned what to do in the worst possible circumstances, when better arise, as they may, life becomes child's play.”-Thomas Hardy) No, it isn't possible. Biologically, the chances are nil. You're basing it off of L4D.
Earth
yes i am. its best to be prepared in case somthing of the like did happen. you never know, if a virus can turn someone into a zombie, then the dead can gain strange powers.. Seraphi
I do know. I know very well. The chances of a parasite mutating in such a way that it can alter it's hosts body to perform functions which the original host could not even dream of performing is literally nil. In fact, the chances of a mutation occuring which is beneficial in any way, shape or form is incredibly slim in the first place. L4D is a game scenario. It has no basis in science at all, and you should completely disregard it when making plans for a real zombie apocalypse. That said, romero zombies aren't likely either, but they are possible. Earth
okay. fine. but really.. anything is possible. didnt think i could survive being bitten in the neck by my dog (accident) i did though. Grim_
A virus mutating without evolution is significantly less likely than surviving after being bit by a dog or being hit by a jeep.
Seraphi
That is completely and utterly irrelevant. There is no correlation between your dog trying to kill you and zombies mutating into magical superbeings. I really just think you're telling sob stories, regardless of whether they are true or not, in hopes of some sympathy.

Nexaduro
Well, just a theory, but... You know how adrenaline can cause humans to be able to lift literally tonnes of weight for brief periods and other such feats? What if the parasite somehow produced an artificial adrenaline? By the way, Earth, I FORBID YOU FROM QUOTING SOMETHING I ALREADY HAVE IN MY SIG. I can do that. 10:53 PM - retech9691: I feel the need10:53 PM - retech9691: To include many chasms in my story arc10:53 PM - Resistance: You mean plotholes? Earth
well... that might be a plausible reason for a zombie tank.. but.. maybe not. Grim_
Nex can the brain produce adrenaline? I would assume not and the parasitic organ that the brain becomes would very likely not use the circulatory system or the endocrine system in which the adrenal glands are held. What you are talking about is the use of more than the ~30% of the muscles that we use normally (at least I think you are). If the zombie could use ~100% of it's muscles they would tear themselves off of the tendons/bones and become unusable.
