Wisp
There would be time given for breaks, but not enough to allow people to go crazy due to lack of things to do. I imagine, aside from sleeping, everyone would have a few hours off every day atleast, unless there were serious pressing problems. Weapon training can only do so much. Power generation as you suggested would be a workout as well, so it's important enough that everyone should do it. One thing is, once we secure the area, and have a renewable source of food, we're going to have a lot of free time. We won't have much to entertain us though. I guess if we have electricity we can have movies, and maybe the occasional video game. Imagine this though. You're in the middle of the zombie apocalypse, you have electricity, and one of your only means of entertainment is an xbox. Then you get the red ring of death. Ouch. Alg
Heck, mabe I could set up a west coast outpost for this zombie defense team. California alone probably has a good amount of places that would be a safe base for it. I painted some stuff and put it on tumblr

I'd probably be a good idea to conserve as much energy as possible and not waste it on things like video games. We can have theater as entertainment, reading, etc. Even tell how many people used to consider zombies as a myth. Ponies!
Wisp
Killing zombies isn't too hard. They walk slow, don't take cover, and don't try to avoid "death". It's fairly simple to shoot them, and there's only so much shooting targets can do, and what it would mostly do is waste ammo. And weapons training/development is always a good idea. You could always practise with your trusty trench [bleep]e/katana/crowbar/[any other melee weapon]? Better yet, we spend time developing a martial art specifically for fighting zombies. Yes I know they bite, the point is to develop a judo type style designed to avoid bite injuries and push away the attacker. Orthodoxy is unconciousnessthe only ones who should kill are those who are prepared to be killed.
Alg
Though for the worst case, it'd probably be best to have some knowledge of zombie-based self defence. You can't decide what happens to you in the event of a zombie apocalypse, you're going to have to be ready for anything. 3rkid
If we have our base at a freaking power plant, I don't care what you guys say I'm playing on a PS3 or XBox. Board games and reading won't entertain me more more than a couple hours.

Board games and reading won't entertain me more more than a couple hours. We wont allow you to waste precious electricity on that. You have to wean yourself off these things. And if board games are too little, either read, or practise with your weapon. (Speaking of weapons, what of crossbows? The ammo is retreivable, so you could always practise your aim with one.) Or, maybe we could arrange special "Zombie hunting squads" into the town... No, thats a stupid idea...Why take the unneccesary risk?
Wisp
For the first few months, video games would be ok. That's how long the plant can generate power without new supplies being brought in. And considering there's enough power generated to cover 50,000 people, 1 console won't make a difference. After that though, unless we find an alternative way to generate power, (ie: solar) electronic entertainment would be minimal. Most likely, a few workers will have remained to take shelter, so we can get them to continue making power. Besides... how much electricity can it take to power a console for an hour? How much electricity could it take to power a console for an hour that could be better spent in other places? 3rkid, we *probably* won't accommodate you. Kiriyama
In the early days/summer, we'll be too busy fortifying the place. In winter, we'll be scaving for food and supplies. Besides, why waste space in our transport for a PS3 and TV, that could be used for more supplies? Denizen of Darkness| PSN= sworddude198

Really, powering the city would be fairly useless, except as a means of attracting the zombies there instead of the base if they turn out photosensitive. Any survivors shouldn't be remaining there, and the only thing they'll gain by being able to turn on the light is the realization that somebody is alive at the power plant so go there, and if they don't figure that out real quick they're screwed anyway. Kiriyama
You people are so narrow minded lol. Try and read this *carefully*. If all goes according to plan, our fortress will be a power plant. And what do power plants do? That's right, they make power. You say we are taking up room that could be used for supplies? None of us live very close to the location. We'll all be taking seperate vehicles. Ergo, plenty of space for supplies. You people act like it will be a hard life. With an already built solid defence, we could all sit around except for one emergency guard, and two or three farmers for the small garden we would have. I think I might go solo, this isn't exactly the most intelligent group... --- And about the 28 days later thing, if they can starve to death then they can also die of thirst. More like 4 days later. Yeah... I'd rather people took as much supplies as they could, so you know, we can actually last longer incase it proves harder to find food. And really, you can always be doing something productive rather than sit around on your arse all day. Really, you idiots can go solo, see how long you last. --- The 28 Days Later was my reference. Plus the outbreak would last at least a week. I mean, you assume everyone is infected on the first day, so we'll be fine after four. That is not true. Kiriyama
Since we're going for all caps... ZOMBIES DO NOT SMELL FOR MILES! THE RANGE WHICH THEY CAN SMELL A SCENT IS LIMITED TO THAT OF A HUMAN, OR PERHAPS SLIGHTLY MORE. IF YOU HAVE NOTHING TO DO BUT SIT ON YOUR ARSE AND PLAY GAMES, THEN YOU COULD BE DOING SOMETHING PRODUCTIVE, THERE ARE THINGS TO MAINTAIN AND SUCH! PLUS ONE GUARD IS PROBABLY NOT ENOUGH, SINCE YOU HAVE MULTIPLE DIRECTIONS TO WATCH! Denizen of Darkness| PSN= sworddude198
