My friend ACTUALLY committed suicide 2 years ago. This is not a joking matter and I dont find it funny in the slightest. People that talk about this kinda thing for attention make me sick.

CALL THE POLICE!

Your excuses are meaningless to me. You show no true intent to try to contact someone.

I know my opinion is controversial, but...

If someone wants to be dead so badly, I think it's a personal decision, and while one should give their opinion ("I really would miss you" or "I love you" or "Please please don't commit suicide" or "I think you are making a rash decision and should take more time to think about this; I know someone who promised that if she decided to kill herself, she would only let herself do it one month after she made the decision to make sure she still felt the same way, since it's such a permanent one" or "I think you should get professional help; here is a therapist a friend of mine goes to and says is really helpful" etc.), as an ultimately personal decision, they should get to make it, and we shouldn't interfere and not let them make the final decision for themselves.

If someone wants to not exist so much, why are we stopping them? Why are we forcing them to suffer? Only because of our own selfish desire to not fee guilty and have them around.

Everybody hug and spread the love :D

You make some good points Mad but i belive that most suicidal feelings are simply down to hormonal changes, teenage angst and dare i say it... attention seeking, rather than a true depression and desire to not exist anymore which is why we should still try our best to stop people.

I think alot of suicide happens during a time of extreme, temporal suffering. Judgment can be clouded by emotion.

dude take a break... get a cookie

she wont suicide i know , just pray for her...

What would praying do? Make you think you helped something when really you were just talking to yourself? Yeah...

No matter how religious you are (or any other superstitious beliefs you might have), "praying" is the absolute wrong way of dealing with serious situations like this. (Like mentioned above, you're really just talking to yourself)

No God/Goddess/thing will stop a person from taking her own life (or even that of another person), YOU have to do something if you can affect the situation in any way possible.

Be a realist, and spend your time locating her. On the other hand, if she really wanted 'attention', she'd called you back already. So you can be pretty sure she is serious about her intentions. Don't let the situation evolve into something you could blame yourself for (for the rest of your life). While it's not your fault, it can be painful to know you could've done something to stop her.

You sir, are wrong. The flying spaghetti monster will.

The point wasn't to bash religions, the point was to remind you shouldn't apply meaningless remedies to serious problems. You don't use witch-doctors to actually cure a disease if you care about the survival of the person.

Likewise, you wouldn't just 'pray' that a suicidal person doesn't kill him/herself. Suicidality can stem from numerous physiological or psychological traumas/problems, and the lack of ability to cope with them. That's where the 'another' person steps in, and tries to help the person and be his/her friend, and talk him/her out of the plan.

The predominant view of modern medicine is that suicide is a mental health concern, associated with psychological factors such as the difficulty of coping with depression, inescapable suffering or fear, or other mental disorders and pressures.

Life and death choices (like committing suicide, choosing euthanasia) simply mustn't be made on the spur of the moment. Even though she probably is suffering a lot at the moment, you should try to contact her anyhow, and even call the police if you are positive about her committing suicide.

My sister attempted to do so some years ago. She's now married and happy, and I know she wished she wouldn't even have attempted it, not only because of the risk of losing her life (duh), but because the scars she might have left in her relatives.

Strong emotions really impair judgement. You too try to be careful with that.

This signature is intentionally left blank.

There's nothing the police can do...

And, I am suicidal as well. I cut myself last night and have had suicidal thoughts for a while. It's getting worse.

Here are the facts Sep:

You've been to a counsellor.

You've been to see a psychologist, in fact several.

Your parents won't have a bar of it.

Hospitalisation is my only answer, stay in there until you can sort your head out and let the professionals in there help you.

And considering you have aspersers, nothing anybody in here says can help you or be taken in the right way under the stress you're enduring.

You're an attention seeker or you're on the wrong medications, which one is it Sep? Be true to yourself.

If you have aspersers you shouldn̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t be using narcotics! Medication such as that will reverse the effects (e.g. make you severely depressed, suicidal).

Wow, this is why I'm glad i took a psychology major.

First off clam down! Being scared and worried isn't going to help your friend, if anything it will make it worse for both of you. Also you need to have a clear, steadfast mind to tell the police/guardians/parents what is the matter.

Next, looking on these forums is not a place to start. At least tell your parents if nobody else so they can help and throw out ideas.

Tell the police every detail of what happened.

Stay around other people, you don't sound very emotionally secure right now so it would be best to be with other people at all times.

And finally try to show her that you are there, thick or thin. And that she means to much to you to kill herself.

Good luck, I'll be hoping for the best. :ohnoes:

This is a temporary account. Ash6110 is my real one. As soon as I get my account back I will not be using this one anymore.

Thanks

Nice advice but you need to know someone̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s full circumstances before you can throw a rope of advice to them.

Sep's parents don't believe anything he says.

The friend committing suicide is the only friend Sep considers his friend.

He's also taking medication and still feels like committing suicide and has attempted it.

If your medication isn't doing what it's supposed to be doing Sep, you need to change it.

You've either been diagnosed wrongfully and your meds are exacerbating your problem, the side effects can sometimes be more life threatening than living a life without them and if you have a different mood disorder it could be triggering off severe hypomania which needs hospitalisation until it settles down to prevent suicide.

Narcotic medicines really need to stop being handed out after 1st and 2nd doctor visits, thankfully QLD laws are changing soon :x

It is impossible to look at someone the first time you've seen them, get them to describe their psychological distresses and match them against hundreds of similar DSM criteria and go AHUH, you have this, take these.

For example before my degree I was shoved on effexor, resulting in 2 suicide attempts, anger outbursts and triggered off severe mania.

Before then being shoved on Zoloft, which gave me severe anxiety and hullucinations.

When all I needed was to take omega 3 fish oil, which isn't even a medication, it's a freaking vitamin tablet

IGoddessI, can you tell me what your counselling qualification is? I'm interested to know about it :)

For it is the greyness of dusk that reigns.

I believe she has studied psychology in a college/university for quite some time. Not sure though; That's just coming from the back corners of my mind as related info :P

@Goddess:

I made this thread to calm me down. It eventually did, but I think that was after calling some people.

My school counselor called my friend's school and she is safe and sound. I still can't contact her though... All seems to be well now.

A lot of people panic under stressful situations and don't know what they should do but you did an excellent job and I'm VERY proud of you.

There is still that issue with your meds though and I'm sure you don't need me to tell you that, you will be clever enough to already have your own suspicions.

If you're not reacting well under pressured situations, the med issue isn't going to do any favours in the long run.

I'm just the annoying mother figure who clouts you behind the ears until you remember to get things done.

You told me you had nothing to live for, it seems to me you have plenty of reasons to live for, people NEED you in their lives, you're special to them just as they are special to you.

Sometimes you just need to be reminded O:)

I'm sorry your parents don't tell you that enough but this mother figure would certaintly miss you if you were gone :(
