Poppet
When was suspect testing finished? :o (Latias and Manaphy OU, Garchomp Uber, for those who didn't already hear about it.) Anyhow, I believe they're testing the clauses now, which means the tiers have been pretty much finalized. Can we start using Latias and Manaphy now? :( From what I remember Latias is OU still and Manaphy and Garchomp are still Uber through I don't think they have finished testing yet. Anyways its not like we would get to use either anyways Manaphy's Heart Swap is still glitchy and Latias is too simlier to Latios and the Soul Dew. Uh, what? Testing is over. They just concluded their latest test, which puts Latias and Manaphy in OU and Garchomp in Uber. And, seeing as it's the final stage of the test, they're not likely to be moving any of the three again for a while. Manaphy's Heart Swap is simply disabled on the smogon server, and Latias is not at all similar to Latios, which is why Latios is Uber and Latias is OU. Soul Dew Clause is also standard, you can't put it on Latias, you can't put it on Latios, you can't even put it on Pikachu. The item itself is banned. You must be looking at a really old list Latias was put into OU in February 2009 (about the same time Garchomp became Uber) and Manaphy I doubt was ever in OU. Also Latias is undergoing testing right now if it should be moved back to Uber. Krimi if you want to battle 12:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M.

Also Latias is undergoing testing right now if it should be moved back to Uber. Krimi if you want to battle 12:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. No. Right about the time we began our tournament, the stage 3 tests began. This is the test you mentioned: Latias, as well as Garchomp and Manaphy. All three of these, along with Latios, were tested before. Latios was clearly voted Uber, Latias tentatively OU, Manaphy tentatively Uber, Garchomp Uber but with wide support for a re-test. That is why Latios was excluded from the stage 3 test, but Latias, Manaphy, and Garchomp were included. The test just ended in the past week, which is why I asked when it happened. I haven't been paying attention recently and just noticed the results. Latias was voted to remain in OU, Garchomp was voted to remain in Ubers, Manaphy was voted to move to OU. Since this is the stage 3 tests, they're likely moving on to test clauses and such, and therefore won't be moving the tiers much soon unless something really big comes up. AKA, Latias and Manaphy are going to stay in OU for quite a while. I can see why you're confused, since this is the first time Manaphy's been in OU since early DP. Heart Swap isn't "disable" in the sense that the move is broken (such like the item Soul Dew is "broken"), but because Shoddy can't get the move to work accurately. Manaphy belongs in ubers imo. Hydration + 100 base stats under rain + Tail Glow is pretty deadly. There are plenty of other really deadly Pokemon in OU already. Manaphy is really just a slightly better Suicune. There are 3 Pokemon frequently used in OU that can pretty much ruin Hydration Manaphy just by switching in as it goes to rest (Tyranitar, Abomasnow, and Hippowdon). The first can also throw a CB stabbed Pursuit at Manaphy as it's fleeing, taking out a good portion of its health, and pretty much guaranteeing it won't work again when compounded with the practically omnipresent stealth rocks. Not to mention, sandstorm gives a 50% Sp. Def boost to all rock types, meaning some of them could probably stand toe-to-toe with a +2 Manaphy regardless. Anyhow, the suspect test showed that Latias was common, but not overpowering. Garchomp was in over 70% of the teams, and EXTREMELY overpowering, which is why he was removed in the first place. Manaphy was pretty much neglected. I personally feel they should test again, without Garchomp inspiring an army of Tyranitars and Hippowdons, but that's their call and not mine. Want to learn to Nex? PoorLepRecon
Relicanth is a beast. You have to set him up with Ninjask though. Once you get maxed speed on Ninjask (alternate Substitute + Leftovers and Protect), baton pass to Relicanth to just destroy the opponent. It's even better if you can get a swords dance off as well. Relicanth has a huge attack stat (around 450 with EV's and good nature) and swords dance just makes even higher. Use the ability that takes away recoil damage, give him choice band, and head smash away. The only problem is that a taunt pokemon can throw off Ninjask's setup. I've destroyed quite a few teams using this. :P Forum Updates & Suggestions <------ Let your voice be heard!Forum Games <------- Coolest place on Tip.ItTip.It Forum Rules <------- Read them! Relicanth comes in on an attack, sub is broken (assuming you even set one up). You take out something, then you get revenge killed by priority. Even a neutral CB STAB Technician Bullet Punch from the ever common Scizor should be able to take Relicanth down. Focus Sash can put a thorn in your side, especially if you're leading with Ninjask since that means you likely don't have SR up. Want to learn to Nex? The Nex Hunters are recruiting! Better off passing to something like Standard Sweeper Lucario or Infernape w/ Mach Punch. Although I think he's making the point that Relicanth can hit harder than both of them. I'm not entirely sure about that. ~It's Super Effective! PoorLepRecon
I'm doing it because it is fun. There's nothing like seeing an NU sweeping a team full of OU's. Sure, I could pass it off to a better sweeper, but I like surprising people with Relicanth. :P Forum Updates & Suggestions <------ Let your voice be heard!Forum Games <------- Coolest place on Tip.ItTip.It Forum Rules <------- Read them! Zaaps1
^ Same reason why I love using Regigigas on a semi-stall team. They kinda just go like, "ok how do I deal with this?" and when they see that their first few hits don't work and change to their Fighting Type, Regigigas is dealing out 160 Base Attack + STAB Returns :P ~It's Super Effective! Soma2035
By the way, why is Soul Dew broken? Doesn't it... I dunno work on Latias/Latios only? Yes, it only works on those two, but it's banned overall. Besides if using it on Latias/Latios was banned, but using it on others was not, you can expect to see some trick-centralized shenanigans. Want to learn to Nex? The Nex Hunters are recruiting! There are plenty of other "useless" items you can make Pokemon hold. Icy Rock, for example, is totally useless since no Pokemon's role is to set-up a hailstorm using the move Hail. ~It's Super Effective! PoorLepRecon
Alright, we seem to have gotten inactive again. Here is the bracket. We still need to finish the tournament. If Wereta doesn't post within a few days, I'll move Soma on and we'll have our final match. I'll shoot Wereta a pm to see if he still wants to play. Zaaps1
May I propose a suggestion? For a next "tournament", how about a kind of modified round robin? Entrants play against whoever they like, but they must have a match against at least 1/2 of the total entrants. The Entrant with the best win/lose/draw percentage at the end of the designated period wins. I don't very much like elimination-style tournaments. So much pressure is placed into a single match that oftentimes the best results fail to be shown. I'm not making any excuses for my loss. It was a very well played match by Soma, who exploited a key weakness in my team-building and one in my judgment. I'm just saying that perhaps another system would be better and overall, more fun. ~It's Super Effective!
