Looks like we have 7 people who wish to participate. Anyone who wishes to participate can post or vote in the poll and I will add your name to the first post by Friday, November 6th. I'll get the bracket set up by November, October 9th. Have your teams ready by then. I don't want to have any delays.

Edit: Species clause says you can't have two of the same Pokemon on the same team, which is fair imo (Battle Towers in the game have this rule).

Item Clause isn't standard, and Species Clause is... so I highly doubt this. Also, Freeze clause isn't considered standard IIRC. If we are playing by those rules though, I think my team's already been decided... no species clause can be seriously fun. :D

 

I'm familiar with Smogon, thank you very much. However, they're currently still in the middle of their testing, with the four suspects being Latias, Latios, Garchomp, and Manaphy. The last ruling was Latias OU, the rest Uber, but they're retesting at the moment and Manaphy is proving the weakest of the four, followed by Latios... while Garchomp and Latias are dominating. Hence my confusion over how these four are considered...

Okay, a glance at the standard ladder reveals that the Freeze Clause is standard, as is the Species Clause, but not the item clause.

I had my month wrong, all dates are in November, not October. :wall:

 

For the rules, here they are:

 

OHKO Clause (No one-hit knockout moves)

Sleep Clause (No more than one pokemon asleep at one time)

Freeze Clause (No more than one pokemon frozen at one time)

Evasion Clause (No moves that boost evasion can be used. Moves that drop accuracy are allowed though)

Selfdestruct Clause (If you and the opponent only have one pokemon each remaining, you may not use self destruct, explosion, destiny bond, or perish song to end the game. If someone does, then the player who activated it automatically loses)

Species Clause (You may not have more than 1 of any pokemon)

Strict Damage Clause (Prevents information about your team from being leaked to other participants)

For our matches, you will need to save the log so there is proof that you won or lost. There is an option to do that on shoddy so it shouldn't be too hard.

Item clause not so much as Species clause. Item clause tends to be more annoying (banning repeated uses of Leftovers, which is extremely common), but species is almost necessary.

 

EDIT: Strict Damage clause should also be used so some entrants cannot leak information to others.

Hence my comment, I'm relieved about that because items are hard to pic of there are only a few worth using.

I have added Wynaut to the banned list and added Species clause to the list of rules. Item clause will not be in effect, though.

 

I'll look into strict-damage clause.

 

EDIT: I don't see how it prevents information from being leaked out.

Ok, you know how Shoddy tells you the damage dealt by percentage? Strict-damage clause prevents that number from going above 100%. So if a Suicune had 33% health, it would be 33% loss as opposed to 150%, or something.

 

This prevents the other player from deducing information about the EV spread of Suicune. If you did 150% damage, you would know that Suicune has below-average defense, which is valuable information you can pass on to someone else. However, if Shoddy only told you that it lost 33%, you couldn't deduce that.

Alright, I added it to the rules. I believe that they should be fine now. I'll allow the rules to be adjusted until tomorrow before they are set in stone. If you feel something should be added or removed, state it now.

Scizor deals with Tyranitar pretty well... and Latias doesn't even deal with Infernape well.
