For the record, I originally voted for round robin, but would support Swiss as well. Actually, I'll end up competing (and losing) regardless of the format.

Update on my hardmode run in Blue: Worked my way to Mt. Moon fairly easily, though I did suffer one casualty (a trainer's Jigglypuff KO'd my Rattata from half health on a crit, not that I was going to use the rat much longer anyways). Picked up a few rejects along the way as well. Currently pushing through Mt. Moon with a 3 man team.

Team:

Lv. 13 Butterfree

Lv. 13 Pidgey

Lv. 14 Squirtle

Box:

Lv. 4 Kakuna (Viridian Forest)

Lv. 6 Spearow (Route 3)

Lv. 8 Zubat (Mt. Moon)

Deceased

Lv. 12 Rattata (KO'd Route 3)

Unless you are feelig lucky on catching a doduo, train that spearow up. It's tons, TONS better than pidgey.

I migth post a Nuzlocke blog today, currently I'm grinding like hell the single luckiest thing i ever caught in this run. A bagon with Adamant Nature. Nathan is lv 54 now, and Salazar (bagon) is level 47

Except that I was planning on picking up Meowth later on, and using that as my Normal attacker, which is better than both of the birds. Dodrio would be an option later on, but I'm not betting on that.

I've always preferred bulky pokemon to fast, strong, but fragile pokemon while playing through the game. It isn't too important to capitalize on speed. It's more important to make sure that strong pokemon can't 2HKO you (if they can only 3HKO you, you can live as long as your healing potions last, unless you get hit by a critical hit).

Even if you have hit fast and hard, it wouldn't mean anything when you get taken down then the gym leader just uses a Hyper Potion.

Ofc, you can't be too slow. Snorlax and Bronzong, for example, aren't amazing during the game. But there's no need to pick the speed demon. For example, in-game, I'd pick Vaporeon over Jolteon. Similar special attack, but Vaporeon can take a hit, while still being able to outrun nearly every trainer pokemon and wild pokemon there is, and being able to tank gym leaders.

Snorlax then, Persian isn't worth it for anything imo, unless you need some sort of revenge killer early on.

Payday's useless. I already have enough cash for anything I'd ever need. Dealing ridiculous CH Slashes is where it's at with the cat.

And somehow I forgot about Snorlax. :x I've been out of it for too long. Currently Wartortle, Weepinbell, and Sandslash are annihilating the S. S. Anne.

Just BEAT the E4 and that loser Red in LeafGreen :)

Half my team died, but it was a gallant sacrifice for the greater good.

My team (entering):

-Aqueous (Vaporeon): level 53. Surf, Ice Beam, Mist, Bite/Hydro Pump (leveled while battling)

Was INSANELY useful, acting as a cure-all of any pokemon that gave the rest of the team trouble AND totally destroyed Lance

-Drake (Charizard): Level 51. Flamethrower, Earthquake, Fly, Brick Break

My starter, unfortunately, was pretty goddamn useless.

-Maverick (Kadabra): Level 48. Psychic, Reflect, Recover, Thief

Wrecked a certain Machamp that would've given me trouble, and Hitmonchan didn't stand a chance, but unlucky crit hax felled Maverick against Bruno's Hitmonlee

-Regina (Nidoqueen): Level 49. Dig, Surf, Superpower, Aerial Ace

Was pretty useful, I guess. Was amazing pre-elite 4. Unfortunately, it had to be sacrificed during the match against Red.

-Thunderous (Zapdos): Level 53. Thunderbolt, Thunder Wave, Drill Peck, Detect

The other star of the show (with Aqueous), Zapdos laughed at Loreli (except Lapras, who I didn't manage to OHKO and got me scared when it used Ice Beam, luckily it only did a little over half, did not crit, and did not freeze) and basically screwed over Exeggutor, Blastoise, and a whole bunch of other stuff. Some sort of genius was at work when I decided to take no risks in catching Zapdos (super repels + master ball).

-Theseus (Gyarados): Level 49. Double-Edge, Strength, Surf, Thunder Wave

Theseus wasn't as useful as I would've liked, but he played his part. Immense strength, but if only I didn't use Double Edge over Strength against Hitmonlee, he would've survived. Hitmonlee high jump kick'd and landed a critical hit. Theseus had something like 5 HP left and wrecked a just-about dead Hitmonlee with a Double Edge. However, the nasty recoil caused Theseus to kill himself. If only I had used Strength instead...or even Surf.

:)

I'm raising a Starmie (Enigma) to take Maverick's place during the Sevii Islands. I'm going to see what I can use to replace Theseus and Regina. I have a Marowak named Berserker, level 46, who looks very promising and could very well replace Theseus. To replace Regina, it is a little harder. There's nothing else with that amazing typing that I can get or have, and defensively the closest things I can get are a Slowbro (currently a level 32 Slowpoke) or a Hypno (level 30). I'll figure it out, or I could use Firebiscut, the new Rapidash I caught, just for the lulz.

Starting up a hard mode game in emerald. Don't know if I'll stick with it, mostly because a) I suck and b) I get attached to my pokemon lol.

Oh btw, something I thought was funny.

In the pre-Victory Road match against my rival, Red, I accidentally left Drake in against his Blastoise. I thought I was gonna take a Surf to the face and lose Drake, but for some strange reason, it used WATER GUN. Wtf, it didn't learn any better water moves this entire time? How the hell did Red get to Cinnibar Island without Surf?

So yeah, after I finished laughing, I promptly Earthquaked it to death.

Rules I have in place right now for my game:

Standard fainting means death rule

Can only catch the 1 pokemon per area, has to be first unique pokemon you run into

No purchasing any items (I think I'll allow buying pokeballs)

No using items outside of battles (Could change, that's just annoying really)

Can't run from any wild pokemon (might make me over leveled)

Must defeat legendaries

Dungeons/forests have to be cleared in one take, no leaving and healing

Might do the same for gyms

Thats what I have right now

Edit: Poison is so unfair when you're a low level. I had to use both my potions to make it to a pokecenter.

"Must defeat Legendaries"

That's an interesting one, can you catch them by that rule, if they're the first Pokemon you see in the area?

And for the over-leveled problem, guess you could use some repels you pick up.

I'd think the point is so that you can't use them. Rayquaza in Emerald, for example, would make everything after the 8th gym ridiculously easy.

When is the signup for the next tourney?

Give it a few weeks. I'm sure a few people, including myself, want a few weeks to get used to school again before starting another tournament.

Completed my Nuzlocke Run on emerald. Only Tania, Jasmine (a girafarig who light screenied the twins) and Salazar the Salamence.

E4 summary:

-Samus annihalated the Dark Dude

-Alexander defeated the ghost Lady

-Samus and Nathan defeated the Ice lady

-Alexander, Samus, Nathan and Salazar defeated the Dragon sailor

-Magnus defeated half of Wallace's team, Pierre the crobat defeated the gyarados with poison and flinch hax, Nathan killed Wishcash, Salazar had to tank a Ice Beam from Milotic, who subsquently got Revenge killed by Nathan with Earthquakes.

Now doing a Nuzlocke Run with Torchic, already got very lucky and got a Slakoth

Also, ALG, Rayquaza gets completely owned by the E4 in emerald, sinc you get to face both Ice and Water Types in the E4, and if you get unlucky with a outrage even the Dragon guy copuld make you tank a hit or two.

Yeah you can. You can get him as soon as you break up the legendaries in Sootopolis.

On the E4 in Platinum. Spent a while training my Pokemon, since I couldn't get past Flint since they were all like level 45ish. D:
