Animaslayer Posted June 18, 2008 Share Posted June 18, 2008 i went on holiday last week to portugal and i found this skull on the beach in a rock pool [hide=skull pictures]side view: front view: rear veiw:[/hide] it also stinks of fish like I've never known a stench before. pryomancer Posted June 20, 2008 Share Posted June 20, 2008 Nah it's bone, or at least cartilage, which erodes faster than bone but not enough for something of that age. It can't be more than a few years old at least. There's definitely an eye socket, which is set very large in the skull, in relation to say, a mammal's. This is a characteristic of bird skulls. I don't really understand why it reeks of fish, I don't even think a seabird like a Gannet would be like that. Plus this is in Portugal, which Gannets are not.
