The song that got you into your favourite...

Featured Replies

^Yeah, pretty weird. Also pretty weird that you've come to like their other songs. :P

The song that got me into NW was The Riddler. Yeah I dunno how exactly...I was listening to Oceanborn and hating Tarja's voice at first. But then, I got a crush randomly on this song, I thought it was awesome (I still think so, btw). And the rest is history. :P

Then...for Sonata Arctica, the song that made me really love them was The Power of One.

For Thin Lizzy, it was Roisin Dubh (Black Rose) A Rock Legend.

Nocturnal Rites: Shadowland

Ensiferum: Guardians of Fate

Windir: Arntor, ein Windir

St. Anger by Metallica is what got me to listen to metal. Before I knew it, I was into Iron Maiden, Slayer, and Black Sabbath too.

Think it was me trying to find... oh shoot... I think it was probably White and Nerdy that got me into Weird Al... Or else Canadian Idiot.

Through Fire and Flames got me into metal/Dragonforce. Dragonforce has awesome guitar!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh wow. Amazing how sometimes listening to such a mundane song can lead into other things. :P

Yeah, at the time I thought it was incredible. I mean, it was still better than the day to day stuff I heard on the radio, but before that I was more into punk (not the good punk either lol).

Two songs, which I stumbled across separately got me into Dream Theater, currently my favorite band (so much so that sometimes I don't listen to anyone else for days or weeks): Only a Matter of Time and Fatal Tragedy. Only a Matter of Time is one of their oldest songs, but I love it. As for Fatal Tragedy, Petrucci's solo in that song is the reason I listen to Dream Theater. It got me hooked.

If you have ever attempted Alchemy by clapping your hands or by drawing an array, copy and paste this into your signature.

Not the first song I heard by them, but it's definitely what got me into them and eventually making them my favorite band.

Why even try with that idiot? Honestly, there is no point whatsoever. I'd get better replies if I argued with a tree stump.

@AdioLovesSquall: I thought you didn't like Opeth? :o

When I was younger my dad would play Thin Lizzy in the car non-stop, so I guess that's what got me into classic rock earlier on. Queen was the biggest push into the classic rock genre for me I guess. Bohemian Rhapsody was the ultimate to me back in middle school, when I'd just started getting into music seriously.

As to which song got me into my favorite band, Yes' Roundabout introduced me to their music, the rest is history. ::'

David Gray's song Babylon. It's very easy to listen to, just like the rest of that CD, White Ladder. 'Course I have an odd taste in music, and definately different than most high school listen-to-whatever-is-on-the-radio tools

Wish You Were Here to Pink Floyd

Change of Seasons to Dream Theater

Iron Maiden to Iron Maiden (whoa...)

Probably Body Breakdown to Dragonforce (not a favorite, but it's a good song nonetheless. Beats Through the...)

Don't remember the song, but a Guitar World interview got me into Steve Morse
