Well in most cases, I think the fact is the people are trying to find "rich" bf's/gf's for the sake of mooching off of them. But now, im not shure why they would even bother due to the trade limit updates. I, for one, find it DAMN annoying.

If you don't want the risk, make a noob account and level him up enough to be up to standards with someone who would date on Runescape.

 

 

 

What I don't understand is how you could mooch off of someone this way now. Most of this happens in f2p, and the most you can get is 3k every 15 minutes. Hardly the "Let me wear your santa hat, I'll look cute in it" that we once knew.

I made a female account once to see what would happen in f2p. Let me tell you, it was disgusting what people would say. I reminded about every person who made comments that I was just pixels, and I was really male. Some of the responses were hillarious.

Years back, I used to get a ton of requests to be someones bf, and I accepted a couple to see howd they react. Most of them just say hi and chitchat a bit, but never talked to me again afterwards, even though they were on my list. One of them was very persistant, she had this romantic and very disney-worldish idea of a bf. She wanted us to take walks, she wanted me to bring her flowers, she wanted me to come see her whenever she wanted even if I was busy, she also wanted gifts but that didn't seem to be her main motivation. Weird times...

I think we should count ourselves lucky. Yeah, so there are weirdos who try to get a gf or a bf in game. That's nothing compared to Maplestory, where players can actually MARRY each other in game. Plus, when they do, they get attack bonuses for fighting together, among other things. :shock: :wall:

It is quite annoying. I used to try to be polite to those asking me to be their gf, telling them at first, "no thank you," and when they persisted (as they almost always did), telling them I had a real boyfriend who would not appreciate it or trying to explain that I simply had no interest in an in-game bf and I thought it was a silly idea. I actually think it is a stupid idea, but would say "silly" because it seemed less harsh.

 

 

 

After a few years of this, I no longer even try to be polite. I just either say "nty" (I don't even bother to type it out) or ignore the person entirely. I get about the same results as when I tried to be more polite, but with far less effort and annoyance on my part.

 

 

 

I had thought this would be less of a problem after the new trading restrictions went into effect, but that hasn't been the case.

I searched the forums for this and didn't find this topic anywhere so I decided to start one.

 

 

 

Everywhere I go in runescape (Falador, Varrok, mainly Lumbridge) there's always at least one person there asking for a boyfriend or girlfriend. As many times as you tell the person that it's against the rules to ask for one, they either keep on asking or follow you around trying their best to deny that it's against the rules. If stuff like this happens to you and gets you annoyed, post it here.

Might i give you a well earned OWNED. In-game girlfreinds and boyfriends are for the very lonely people that don't have either in real life. It's just stupid.One time, This kid came up to me while i was cutting yews (who was 11) and started telling me "I love you so much please will you go out with me" and i said "no you don't go away". But he wouldn't shut up so he found a greatly deserved spot on my ignore list. :shame:

The thing I find funny is that now with the trading update... has anyone else noticed that ingame bf/gf's have pretty much become extinct???? LOL . One time one this super hot "GirL" followed me to around asking to be my gf .... well i walked north and "she" kept following me... and I lead her to her death in the wild LOL..

People can do whatever they want, but basically a Runescape boy or girlfriend (or any other kind other than real life for that matter) is the most [developmentally delayed]ed thing I've ever heard.

I find it extremly sad. They really think by typing in "need gf/bf" they will get one? Really, these are kid's from miniclips or something under the age of 12. Just report em, easy as that. And cross your fingers they get muted and quit.

Ask them what their cooking skill is, if it isn't any good, just tell them you won't go out with someone who can't cook for you. If it's decent, ask them what their cleaning skill is. If they actually play along with that, and you're feeling daring, ask them what their foreplay skill is. I probably wouldn't recommend that last one though, might get you into trouble, but could end up being very funny.
