Tsar
Imo, slayer is not so much a combat skill, but a combat-related skill. Since it doesn't however affect your combat level nor will you have to have 99 slayer to be considered maxed out in combat, I'll have to say it's a non-combat skill. Sdnthirty
its obviously noncombat seeing how it dosent effect your combat lvl Just cuz it doesnt give cb lvls doesnt mean its not combat I'm 137cb and 94 range if I lvl range it doesnt give cb lvls now so at this point it isnt combat? Madmanpur3
It is a non-combat skill that requires combat to train. Say we have 2 maxed combat characters and one is 99 slayer and the other is 1...the player with 99 slayer has no combat advantage over the player with 1 slayer if they were to fight each other or a non-slayer monster. r4ngewarlord
a combat skill why? because it helps you kill stuff like dark beasts and lets you unlock new amours like defense and it is raised by killing stuff It is a non-combat skill that requires combat to train. green9090
The game definition of a combat skill is a skill which augments your combat level. There's no argument here- slayer doesn't play into the combat level formula, so it isn't a combat skill. It's definitely combat related but to call it a "combat skill" is a syntax error. Krampell
I see it as a non-combat skill. All combat skills gives combat lvls, and sadly, this doesent so, well, thats why.

Range_This11
I have 88 slayer and it is definitely NOT a combat skill. It is one of the most beneficial ways to train combat and make money, but nonetheless, not a combat skill. Soldierx10
I like to think of slayer as an unnofficial combat skill, You can get 1-99 with any other non-combat skill without gaining one cmbt level, but you cannot get 1-99 slayer without gaining a combat level, the fact that it requires you to use your combat skill, which in the end will result in combat levels. muggiwhplar
How's this controversial lol It's non-combat... A person with 80 att, 80 str, 80 def, and 1 slay vs someone with 80 att, 80 str, 80 def, and 99 will have no disadvantage its obviously noncombat seeing how it dosent effect your combat lvl Just cuz it doesnt give cb lvls doesnt mean its not combat I'm 137cb and 94 range if I lvl range it doesnt give cb lvls now so at this point it isnt combat? Lodewijk66
it's a non-combat skill. Slayer is very closely related to combat (skills) but is not a combat skill itself. All combat skills raise your combat lvl, which slayer doesn't. A lvl 3 could have 99 slayer and still be lvl 3. Slayer is NOT a combat skill. Combat, because you have to fight things to level it up :P NO, you don't HAVE to fight things to lvl it up, you can also lvl slay with lamps OR Ring of Recoil your task which is not fighting (imo) its obviously noncombat seeing how it dosent effect your combat lvl Just cuz it doesnt give cb lvls doesnt mean its not combat I'm 137cb and 94 range if I lvl range it doesnt give cb lvls now so at this point it isnt combat? that's because you're melee based ;) I agree with muggi at this point, but remember muggi, high pixels don't mean someone's bright irl lol ;) Lode's Steel Smithing Guide! He is saying anything that doesnt give combat levels isnt combat skill...so If I'm 99 everyhting but mage or range adn i get 1-99 of thsoe without gaining 1 cb lvls then it is non combat? Lodewijk66
O btw you say I'm not bright your the one who bug abuses lol that's not about being bright ;) that's about seeking the leaks of the game and the fails of the producer, it's not his fault they made them and he just "used" them. OT: you're right 'bout bbjoe is wrong, but he just said it wrong because what he's saying is right: you don't lvl combat anymore if you lvl ranged/magic because you're melee/summon based, therefor only those 2 "options" can let you lvl combat, since you maxed melee already (right?) summon is your only option of lvlin combat. slayer is not a combat skill as it doesn't raise your combat, not even when you're not melee/summon based. Musky44
In my opinion, slayer is noncombat. Sure you have to use combat if you plan on leveling it at a decent pace, but you can use books/randoms/ToG/quests to raise it. You never have to leave level 3 combat to get 99 slayer, but it will take ages.

Xizor12
I don't think it is a combat skill, I think a combat skill is a skill which directly affects your combat level. In time we hate that which we often fear-William Shakespeare
