Sdnthirty
Now don't freak out....but what is your view on slayer? Do you think it is combat skill or a non combat? People say it is combat skill as you need to do combat to level others say it isn't as it doesn't give combat levels. I think it is a combat skill, what do you think? Combat Skill-7 Noncombat skill-14 Btw I know you can level with lamps/book/tog/quests but I'm talking about training it with combat. If there is a topic like this I'm sorry was I searched for one and didn't find any.
NinjaChicken
I also think it is a combat skill because you're getting xp for learning how to kill stuff and killing monsters. [/bads]
jenova1692
It does use combat, but it is not a "combat" skill as it does not help you in normal combat, only against slayer monsters. That is why it does not raise your combat level.
brunokiller
The only way to level slayer is to use a weapon to kill stuff. It is definately a combat skill in that view. The uses of slayer make it look like a combat skill too. The only half exception would be using slayer to earn the ability to make broad bolts/arrows(fletching). The other rewards is being able to kill stuff that someone with a lower slayer level can't. It's definately a combat skill to me. My blog
Danqazmlp
Its a combat-trained skill, but not a combat skill in that it helps you in combat. So as it doesen't actually help you in combat, its a non-combat skill. Want to be my friend? Toad
id love to see it added, motivation to level it up, maybe unlock more special attacks on your bar as your level goes up and the higher your level the more you can fit on your ban list instead of the quest point system. but right now no its not. starmily
I saw a post about this on the RSOF. Some people were quite upset when Smoking Kills came out because it required a combat level of 85 for a quest designed around what they saw as a non-combat skill. Fekambard
I personally believe it to be a combat skill, as it is 95% combat related. Even if it does now directly affect you when you are fighting, it could be updated to give significant advantages during combat. Also, since summoning rose the maximum combat to 138, 12 more than 126. I would guess slayer would increase combat by 12, giving the maximum possible combat a level a nice round 150. brando13a
Slayer is combat dependant skill, not a combat skill. you need the other forms of combat, mainly melee, in order to even have the skill (as to train the skill itself requires certain combat levels). In combat, you do not use slayer, it offers use of some equipment/spells, and the ability to be allowed to kill certain monsters, but it does not itself increase your damage in anyway, which is what combat skills do. have 99 slayer doesnt make you hit higher in any combat skill, or have any other actual benifit, other than use of equipment- I suppose its like a newer form of defence, but less useful in actual practice, because it only allows you to wear certain equipment, but does not actually increase your defences through the skill itself. based on those facts, I personally see it as a combat dependant skill, that opens more options for combat, without actually benifitting combat in any way- slayer mask doesnt count, as i said its simply equipment, the skill itself doesnt offer 15% extra str and attack- so, no it isnt a combat skill. Reverents can be a pain, but you can run away from them. Just curious, do they still have teleblocking ability?Fear the church, the reverents have 85 magic!!!! a b c
Slayer dosen't helps with combat, only helps kill better things that other can't so i dont think is a combat skill.
nightshade53
It is a combat related skill, but it has 0 effect when in PvP or against boss monsters as they have no slayer requirement. It should never contribute to combat lvl unless it gives you an advantage over someone the same combat level as you but with less slayer.
oreocookie987
Combat skills affect your combat level, so I'd have to say non-combat. Well when I get lesser tasks I kill zammy boss at gwd or goblins I kill bandos boss at gwd with black mask/slayer helm it pretty much owns them. Zaaps1
It depends how you would define a "combat skill". Although, if you really stretch the meaning, all skills are combat skills, aren't they? Farm (herbs) > Herblore (potions) > used in combat Hunter (chincompas/salamanders/capes) > used as weapons and armor Runecraft (runes) > used for magic Construction (lecterns, armor stand) > Magic xp and repairing armor Agility (run energy, shortcuts) > Running faster to escape, getting to training spots faster Attack > Just seeing if you were still paying attention! But I don't stretch my definitions that much. Before, I would say Slayer is noncombat, since it was possible to level without directly dealing damage (recoils/vengence other). But how, since Jagex removed that, you must directly hurt the monster. Therefore, I believe it is a combat skill. ~It's Super Effective! BloodArgon
Its not. Attack - Lets you hit more often Strength - Lets you hit higher Defence - Lets you not get hit as often Mage - Casts damage spells Range - Shoots damaging projectiles Hitpoints - Keeps you alive Prayer - Boosts above combat abilities Summoning - Allows you to have a familiar that damages (Its activated just like prayer, so if prayer is a combat stat, this is too) Slayer - Lets you kill more monsters As you can see, slayer does nothing to DIRECTLY effect your killing of the monster. It wasnt designed that way, so its not a combat stat. 99 Crafting :: 39,750th || 99 Attack :: 1,775th
