1canadian1
Seriously, back in the day I never saw kids at the age of 9 with cellphones. Now, it's not a rare sight to see. Also, aren't those Disney Stars suppose to be good role models for our kids? I have little cousins who watch the Hannah Montana show and they believe that shes a great role model for society. Well...I've seen a lot of bad pics of disney stars and this is no different. What are her little fans going to say? Also, who took the pics? Her dad?? Her boyfriend. Come on..teenagers are waaay ahead of their times. I'm 16 but I'm not going around taking pics of myself in the shower with just a t-shirt on. Kaphias
I've noticed this too. I didn't get a cell until I was 12 or 13, and my younger brother got one when he turned 10. It seems that whenever the older sibling gets something, the younger has to have it as well, even if they're 4 years younger... 8,325th to 99 Firemaking 3/9/08 | 44,811th to 99 Cooking 7/16/084,968th to 99 Farming 10/9/09 | Runescaper August 2005-March 2010Tip.it Mod Feb. 2008-Sep. 2008 | Tip.it Crew Sep. 2008-Nov. 2009

Lenticular_J
Eh, I've seen it too. She's a good enough role model on the show, I guess. Even though someone like Optimus Prime is a good one in real life, too. I don't understand what to talk about, there's worse out there. Kids my age have made pornography (just starting high school). Miley isn't that bad, I guess. catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream
Riku3220
Earth has the same revolution time as you did when you were 9, their parents dont buy phones for kids to just have, to just call over saying "Hey, is it ok if i go the Jimmy's house?" when school is over. when did Miley Cyrus screw up? it seems the only one that is a perfect role model that no one pays attention to, is Miranda Cosgrove. Agunimon979
Kids are growing up too fast because there is too much adult content in the world nowadays. They have no choice but to accept the truth and grow up. Ffs I see little kids with skater caps, Hollister, vans, ear studs and stuff. Shouldn't little kids be wearing stuff that makes them comfortable?
Lenticular_J
Yeah, I didn't even know Hollister sold shirts I couldn't fit my hand in. Oh wait, that's most of them. Eh, it's just more easily accessible to kids these days, I guess. catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream

Shouldn't little kids be wearing stuff that makes them comfortable? Too much adult content, not enough adults acting as parents. I don't accept the cop out that you "have no choice but to accept the truth and grow up." You'd have to ask, given this trend of kids growing up fast, whether parents really care that much about this issue. Conservative attitudes don't seem to be mirrored by parents, considering the trend exists. Having said that, if I were a parent, I'd be siding on the conservative side of things in raising my kids. Agunimon979
Well I say for kids to accept the truth and grow up because they can't do anything about all the adult content taking over television these days. It's not like kids have a say in anything anymore.

I'm sure when we were young our role models did something bad, but since we were young we heard nothing of it. We are older now and we know these things but I'm sure if you ask a 6 year old they wouldn't have a clue. And with the mobile phones I found that more kids are getting them at a younger age because their parents are afraid of all the 'bad' people and want to know where their kid is 24/7. I remember a news story a while back where kids as young as 6 had mobile phones. Parents are becoming too overprotective and spoiling their kids. ^Sir Jem 05-The Bunny Drinking Blog?^ Click it! Agunimon979
Parents are becoming too overprotective and spoiling their kids. Debatable, because since I go to school in Meriden I see a lot of uncaring parents and children wandering the streets after dark. But parents are spoiling alot of kids these days, I agree. Range_This11
I had a talk with my mom the other day about kids being spoiled. She said that she had a hard enough time saying no to my sister and I (22 and 18 respectively) and I told told her that I thought it was because her generation never got any of the "treats" that we all take for granted; going to McDonald's, having a bag of potato chips, or having sugary cereal. A lot of those things our parents didn't get and of course, they always wanted them. Now they see us wanting the same things that they did when they were children, and on top of it: they can afford to get us those things. That's why, in my own opinion, kids seem to be more "spoiled" than in past generations. That's why, in my own opinion, kids seem to be more "spoiled" than in past generations. I agree, and it's also that there is more to want nowadays. Especially with video games. A while ago, there were no video games for children to want. Now, there are...And there are a lot. And children want video games a lot. And they're getting them. Children are being more spoiled and spoiled as the years go by, I'm pretty sure it's a fact. Back when my sister was in middle school, she got her first cell phone, and it was a crappy one. Cracked screen, no games, no camera, she only got it because she had to stay after school a lot of the time for some play. Now, I see elementary school students with cell phones. And really good cell phones too, I'm willing to bet more than half of them are better than mine. It doesn't stop with cell phones either, I'm sure a ton of children got their Wii/360/PS3 long before I got mine. Meh, I guess you could even say it happens in my grade, basically everyone has some console, some good phone, some good clothes, etc. I could go on and on with my rant about kids being way more spoiled now than in the past, I think I wrote an essay about it not too long ago. Anyway. With that aside, the world has changed. Companies are targeting at young children more and more. And children are buying into it, asking their parents for stuff, and how could you say no to cute little Johnny? In my opinion, the average age of parents is dropping, and young parents have absolutely no idea of discipline. They're simply too young, not ready to handle a child, as in a way, they aren't done with their childhood yet. #-o I'm simply ranting here, I have no idea what this has to do with the topic. I actually have no idea what the original topic was, but apparently it's changed into kids being spoiled? Or was that it...Anyway, my views may be extremely different from yours, I live in a different place, different things happen and we've had different experiences. Nenga
Yes kids are more spoiled because, like what has been said, parents what to satisfy their kids every want and need and they have the money to do it. It started about 1 generation before mine, and now that my oldest sister (who was in that generation) is older and has a child, I can see some of those effects. A little while ago I realized that I need to wake up and small the coffee as well. Even though I thought I was ready to go into the world, i'm far from it, which was my wake up called when my parents actually started making me do things for myself. My older sister (I have 2 older sisters) is still hanging on to my parents pretty tight and i'm worried she wont be able to make it in the real world. My point is kids grow up too fast and then dont have the skills they need to survive. Ponies!

(although I need to call mum more often then I'd like  ) and I can run really fast for ~500m without slowing down at all, I know because I had to go somewhere about 1km away in like 5 mins, sprinted the first 500m then decided to walk because it was early and the winter air was killing my throat :wall: ) Steam | PM me for BBM PIN Nine naked men is a technological achievement. RichieMcD
It's all to cheap and to easy for children to get their hands on items which would be owned by adults only last decade. Mobile phones can be bought for 80, drugs are easy to find, alcohol is easy to get, 18's movies are easy to get. I don't think it's that they're growing up to fast, I just think all items are to easy for them to get. Yes I agree with you there isn't many good role models left for children any more. Take Paris Hilton for example, what has she achieved in life? Barely anything notable, her biggest selling item is that accidentally released porno of her yet teenage girls love her and look up to her. Every role model has a bad side these days, one of the sport stars I look up I played golf with recently, turns out he's an absolutely stuck-up [puncture]. Welcome to the 21st century, society doesn't care, teenagers act like adults and children act like teenagers.
Riku3220
i dont see anything wrong with a 9 year old having a cell phone, they probably have some sort of family plan so its not like it makes it incredibly expensive for each member of the family to have a cell. i was 9 five years ago and i remember i knew what i was doing wrong if i was, i knew not to be an idiot and keep asking for things but you can put a tracker on a cell phone so you know where your 9 year old is after saying "Hey i'm going to Jimmy's house"
warren211
Got my phone at 11, my allowance at 10. My little brother was jealous so my parents gave both to him at age 8. And my brother is the kind of kid who leaves his phone around and doesn't usually know where it is at a moment's notice, and spends lavishly on things he'll never use (he bought an 80 dollar basketball because it was "limited edition" and now it sits on his shelf where he never uses or looks at it. There's nothing really wrong about kids having phones, but it's when they abuse them that something needs to be done. Wanting a brand new phone just because "it looks cool" or "all my friends have it" when your current phone is perfectly fine is not the way to teach kids the value of money. I'm the really frugal person in the family, I try not to spend too much money and always beg not to get too many presents on my birthday or christmas. My brother is the exact opposite. [hide=]tip it would pay me $500.00 to keep my clothes ON :( :lol:But then again, you fail to realize that 101% of the people in this universe hate you. Yes, humankind's hatred against you goes beyond mathematical possibilities. That tears it. I'm starting an animal rebellion using my mind powers.
