"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice

Featured Replies

I think I actually found a girl that's single and we get along pretty damn well. I'm gonna be pretty honest about one thing though, I have no idea how to ask her out. Some advice wouldn't hurt.

Pick something low compliance that can easily branch off into something else. Helping you shop for something is perfect for it. Assuming you're at a mall you can end up seeing a movie, getting lunch, playing pool, airhockey or minigolf, going back to someone's house for a movie etc. The wording was deliberate for a much more likely yes because it's something you're doing anyway therefore she can safely back out without being rude if she changes her mind.

get somewhat on topic and ask her "do you want to be girlfriend/boyfriend?"

Please don't do this.

  • Obviously you ask her to come with you. Drive with her to the steepest mountain. Put her in the backpack and spend a week climbing the mountain. You will drink the rain and you will eat like a bear. B

  • Okay so I'm pretty confident at least 2 of you remember me and maybe .5 of you remember how my last post went. To recap, I went on the first date of my life and then a second one that went poorly.   T

I vote use the middle ground. What I do: Walking along with the girl, talking, having fun. You grab her by her upper arms (lightly, please...), turn her, look her in the eyes, up and down, back into her eyes. Your expression isn't quite readable. Then, you look satisfied. "I need to take you on a date," you state matter-of-factly. Keep walking, talking about the previous subject. When you're done walking, that's when you tell her that you'll call her to work out the details (three, no less than two days before the date - also call prior to the actual date to confirm nothing came up). Tell her what you're doing, at least one specific thing and some generalities. Girls want to know what to wear, to plan.

Well I had a few kisses with my girlfriend tonight ( they were mine and I think her first). I think we did more of a peck then an actual kiss  I need more practice...

Mimicry is mighty fine practice. But if you learn how to use your hands (no, not like that!), she will be very appreciative.

catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream

the hell kind of mall do you hang out at?

Mine only has a theatre, and a crappy one at that

Yeah no kidding. That's all the one at mine has too, although there is also an arcade.

I was going to eat hot dogs for dinner tonight. I think I will settle for cereal.

OPEN WIDE HERE COMES THE HELICOPTER.

The one closest to me has a theater and arcade, 40 minutes down the coast there are 2 massive malls right near each other, (pacific fair and australia fair) near a beach with a street mall with clubs, (cavill ave) also has heaps of hotels around.

40 minutes inland is also a national park/rain forest with a popular hang gliding spot. There's a pine forest nearby for 4bying, and brisbane isn't too far away. I like where I live :)

Err help?

My best friends, girlfriend (well ex well not well it's bloody complicated) is hinting at [cabbage] and idk what to do. Now she won't answer me straight oh I'm a [bleep].

Edit:

If you ask whether she likes me? Yes a lot I think though she won't let it get anywhere because of my best friend. I know this because she told me earlier :/

Slap yourself in the face and then read this line:

It's your best friend's ex. Don't go there.

I'm not stupid but she is stubborn and won't take no without feeling stupidly insulted.

That's her problem. Just continue life as usual, if she makes an advance then tell her you're not interested.

Hm lets apply this to a suicidal person.

If she has depression she's not going to have the energy for suicide unless she gets given the wrong meds or something. It's a touch situation because you can never be 100% sure, but you can't be with her when you don't want to for her sake. Get her help, but getting caught up in it is a terrible idea that I learned the hard way.

Rinse, and repeat.

Seriously, that's the number one way to loose a best friend, is to sleep with their ex. Other way? Sleep with their parent. It's an utter and wholly complete betrayal.

Edit: @bonkers, I know, again i'm not foolish but I will see.

If we were to hang out, and went to all those places, I'm pretty sure I'd sleep with you.

I'm so sick of dating, and ex's, and expectations and pressure and just everything that revolves around the dating game. It's gotten so...uggggh. Yes, I did have a bad night. To hell with it.

Anyway, hanging out with girls is sure to be good experience.

Whoever would sleep with you best friend's parent is seriously [developmentally delayed]ed in the head.

I just got a new girlfriend  Just a quick question, what should you talk about on the phone? We've had a few awkward silences haha. Not fun, so any suggestions to avoid them or what to talk about?

Just like you, baby.

@Blake: Just talk about whatever pops into your head, if she's your girlfriend you obviously have some common ground, so focus on that. :)

Well, I know it sounds bad, but I just met her last week through a friend. This weekend we hung out a lot, and by the end we were going out. Kind of spur of the moment thing, but I'm happy with it. Except the awkward phone silences haha

Maybe you should stick with texting for a little while? And only call her up to be more personal if you're taking her out somewhere, etc.

That's what I was thinking too, texting is a little easier. Once we get closer there'll be more to talk about.

i wouldn't use texting as a crutch though. Try finding intersting topics prior to calling her, so you have more to talk about.

I just suck at talking on the phone I guess. In person i'm perfectly fine. Maybe it's the lack of body language or something. I just can't really think of anything at all to say when i'm on the phone
